  1. CMMG has radial delayed blowback. It makes a big difference. It’s not as smooth as an MP5, probably due to weight, but it’s the only 9MM AR I would consider. Plus you can get the CMMG mag kits that convert AR PMAGs into 9MM mags. Yes it’s more expensive, but I hated the few 9MM SBR ARs I’ve owned, just like I hate my two SBR CZ Scorpions.

  3. I took this course as my first real training course (the HCP course really doesn't count). Two primary components, lecture/classroom work and range work. The lecture portion was outstanding - nothing earth-shattering but presented in a way that allows you to convert that "this situation doesn't feel right" to I know why this situation feels wrong which will allow faster and more intentional responses. As someone subject to analysis paralysis, having the patterns of bad guy behavior explained will make it much easier to take action instead of standing on the street wondering why the situation feels wrong. The shooting component was great. As someone limited to a no draw from holster indoor range for most of my shooting, the ability to combine moving, drawing and firing was great. I got better and more importantly learned what better feels like so that I can monitor myself to prevent bad habits from coming back. We got a lot of drills in and there was a lot of personal attention to my technique and motion. I recommend Randy as an instructor and am looking forward to taking future classes from him.

  5. Hey guys, Don't really post much on here but do visit just about every day. Wanted to share some of the work I've done to a Gen3 26. Not sure how everyone feels about the stippling but I'm real happy with it. Pretty new to this polymer "enhancement" stuff so feedback is welcome. (only my 3rd attempt) Planning to add some durakote "dark bronze" here pretty soon but here are a few pics in the meantime.

  7. This is a bit late in the thread, but thought i"d add this, FWIW. I have ordered seedlings of Shellbark hickory, the large nut variety, ( small saplings about 1/8" dia. shank, from the Tenn. Forestry Service in East TN. Had to order 25 ( minimum order ), $40. I'm having them shipped FedEx to be delivered in March. I'm not starting a tree farm, so there will be several left over, depending on how this goes, LOL. If anyone ( Greg, thought of you ), wants any, let me know. These will be free to my TGO buds, out of the goodness of my heart, LOL. I know most don't believe I have that organ. My ex said I was the only living heart donor she ever saw. I only plan on planting maybe 2 or 3 in my back yard.

  8. This is my only Class III item. Honestly, I'm not sure just how to go about selling it. That's why I was asking for the name of a dealer. Capbyrd: Can we really sell this legally between two individuals? Just how does that work? As for my sons, both are shooters and gun owners. But neither is into it like I am. Neither wants to own the suppressor and while the transfer may be easy, its a lot of hassle and time involved to get the few hundred it would bring by one of them by selling it. I just want to save them the trouble. I bought this back in 2011. A good friend of mine had just gotten his Class III SOT added to his FFL. Honestly, I bought it on a whim trying to help my friend get established as a Class III dealer. While it was fun at first, the thrill wore off pretty quickly. I haven't used it in years. That's why I'm considering selling. The maker, Long Range Precision, was just trying to get started in the Class III business with suppressors and AOW shotguns. They offered these items to my friend at great prices. Unfortunately, they didn't make it and soon folded. A couple of you have asked, so here's the details: Maker: Long Range Precision Model: Ghost Caliber: .22LR K baffle design 1" diameter 1/2 " X 28 threads. Very early production with a single digit serial number: LRPG000X It works extremely well. On my 10-22 I can hear the bolt cycle. I've fired about 200-300 rounds through it. I'm hoping to get $250-300 for it. Do y'all think that would be a fair price?

  10. Point instinct shooting was how I was trained. That was many years ago and they have since made up many different names for that. Had I not been trained that way; I would be dead. However, I have no problem transitioning back and forth between that and using sights for target shooting. But everyone needs to train, and use, whatever they think will keep them alive.

  11. Rep came in yesterday with a .410 upper that attaches to any 5.56 lower and a ten rd mag. Pull the pins, take off your upper, put this on, and you have a ten rd .410 shotgun. We tried it, it's amazing.

  12. A bit off topic, but some of the best shots that I have ever made was from my getting out of my head, looking at what I wanted to hit, pointing the gun (or arrow) at what I wanted to shoot, and pulling the trigger. The theory put forth is that you naturally point at what you look at - although me hitting a rabbit in the heart while on the run at 40 yards with an field arrow could arguably be luck. I'm not referring to cowboy shoot-out style here. Many times during a gunfight either the gun, or the gun hand/arm, is shot because the opposition is focusing their eyes on the weapon pointed back at him/her. The problem with me is that "Sight alignment; sight picture" was ingrained into me for most of my life. Once I get my bullet stop finished out back I plan to develop point-shooting further. It's much faster, and I need that as I get older.

  13. Aero Precision showed off their new 9mm upper and lower receivers at shot show. Looks like it will be available as a complete carbine or upper/lower separate to build off of. The lower takes glock mags and the upper has last round bolt hold open. I'm looking forward to getting a closer look at the NRA show in a few months.

  14. A "Belly Band" is adjustable and can be worn as high or low for your comfort as wanted. Most I have seen seem to be junk, but there are a few that offer good width (4-inches or more), have good retention (Velcro straps for weapon, magazines & other items), can be concealed under just a t-shirt and are maybe a better solution than the pocketed under-shirts. I often use a BlueStone Safety brand one that comfortably carries most any pistol, 4 extra mags, a flashlight and a can of pepper spray. It conceals well under just a t-shirt, can be worn and accessed fairly easily when seated and is easy/quick to strap on or take off. This makes taking a firearm with me on quick trips to the store an easy decision and is comfortable to wear for long periods when other activities are done. Getting under a shirt to access your firearm is not as easy/quick as a standard holster, but when concealment and comfort are high-priority, I find it hard to beat a belly band.

  15. I want to take a minute to thank each and everyone that contributed to my GFM account and also sent funds not on the GFM account. It has been a tough road but we are on our way to getting him enough tools that he can begin looking for work again thanks to the help from all the folks here. I can't thank you all enough!! 16. My guess is that you're using the wrong holster. And the dress belt is completely wrong. A proper concealment holster and a good gun belt to support it can make even large guns disappear.

  18. I pay a Membership at Barren River Rod and Gun Club. It's about 25 or 30 minutes north of Westmoreland (where I live) but a low traffic outdoor range for $50/year is perfect for me

  21. It all depends on the shotgun, some work and some don't. I know the Mossberg 500 I had would hiccup on them. I would just grab some low brass target loads and use them. No need for slugs or 00 buck at the distances inside a home. Birdshot is very devastating inside of 15 yards. Another advantage is overpenetration is not going to be an issue. A slug will go through the bad guy, a few walls of your home, exit and cross the street or field then go through a few more walls and likely go through another body before stopping. I generally use a mix of low recoil (yeah right) 00 buck and #4 steel shot. I recently added some slugs just to change things up a bit. Dolomite

  22. As long as you are not the bad guy; you would be fine. You guys don't understand. Everything can't be about you; this is about Dave. I will leave you out of my group buy. Just remember when everyone is pointing at you and laughing at the range, for being the only ones using those ridiculous dot sights; you were convinced they are the best. Kids...

  23. Frankly, I thought almost all the ads were lame. A lot of them, I didn't even understand. I asked my wife, "What did we just watch?" She said she didn't get it either. I didn't get the dementia ad. How did google know all that stuff? Who programmed it with all that information? Can it really answer questions like that? If so, that's creepy. The whole ad was creepy.

  25. Ha! Neither Glock nor S&W offers what I am convinced is the best. I am quite fond of plastic Glock sights, however, because they are so easy to remove Good luck in your search for white outline rears. I have a feeling you will need it. I hope I’m never nearby when you start point shooting In a defensive scenario.

  26. I emailed LPA a couple of times and they finally answered me. They told me “No” and to either just keep using the totally worthless POS 3 dots sights that come on those (and most other) pistols, or buy a POS Glock and buy their sights to put on it. Well okay, that’s not exactly what they said…here is what they said. I should have known better than to expect those freakin’ Italians to help us out. They were probably too busy making pasta. I obviously will need to find an American Made product to deal with this problem.
