  1. Get some integrity back in your life. Make your word actually be your word. Be honest with yourself as well as others. Don't be feeble in your quality or character. Everyone believes in something ...whatever it is stand up for yourself....and you don't have to be an ass while doing it. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. Think about that as you make your life decisions.

  12. Looks like RK Gun Shows has found themselves a new Venue in Memphis at the Shriner's Temple. Next show is March 7. This just off HWY 70/Summer Ave in East Memphis. Pretty easy to get to and a whole lot closer to my home. RK's web site shows a map. I've seen this building before. I think they'll have plenty of space for vendors, but I'm not sure if there's enough parking. I guess we'll find out. Al Chymia Shriners Building 5770 Shelby Oaks Drive Memphis, TN 38134

  13. My wife told me, many years ago, " I will never allow myself to think of being with someone else, like I am with you." That one statement helped keep me from doing something stupid. We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary today. Daughter called last evening and told us to be ready to go, somewhere, at 3 this afternoon, and they would be here to pick us up. Don't know how this sweet lady put up with me for this long, because at times I didn't deserve it. However, I like it, I love it, and I want some more of it! Edited to add advice to younger men; Treat her well because you are going to be old someday, then you will really NEED her to be nice to you. The Bible tells man that happiness, in the home, is the man's responsibility. And yes guys, that means you need to take out the trash. Do your part.

  14. Our daughter called and told us they were taking us out to dinner. Came and picked us up and we left and my son in law said he wanted to stop and get a car part. We pulled into a big building and SURPRISE, 70 of our friends were there to party us down. All 4 of our daughters, two from 10 hrs away, were there with their families and all of us were there except for one grandson who burned his foot badly and could not make the trip. Those traveling are here at our home tonight and we had a totally great day. I never had a clue. My girls really made the day special for us. I know it took a lot of work, money and time. The day could not have been any better. So glad to have all our girls under our roof tonight. I will get up early, in the morning, and make them a breakfast to die for. Country Ham, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and eggs. Nothing is too good for our girls and their family. I have kissed our baby granddaughter many many times, and I miss her so. She lives in Charleston SC and we only get to see her(7 Y O) and her brother (11 y o) 3 or 4 times during the year. I showed Parker the Savage 308 I am going to give him. I also gave him a new Rem 1911R1 which I will take at the same time. He told his dad they were going to need to get a gun safe for their house. I know he will appreciate the guns, and I don't know any old man that truly enjoys giving his guns to grandkids that they know will cherish them as he has in his life time. I am a blessed man for sure! Thanks for all the replies and well wishes.

  18. I've got about 350 rounds downrange with the Masada as of today. Basics: 2 x 17 round magazines, with remarkably stiff springs. Comes with 2 backstraps (small and large), and optic mounting kit with 4 RDS-specific spacer plates and appropriate screws. The optic cut cover and all the mounting plates are plastic. The RDS plates included are for: Deltapoint, RMR, Venom, and Romeo 1. Trigger pull is 4 lbs, about 4.5mm worth of takeup and another 4mm of smooth, non-stacking creep. Ambi mag release and ambi slide release. Steel 3-dot sights. Handling and shooting impressions: Good hand feel for me, I left the large backstrap installed. Trigger has a great pull, but trigger slap does occur on mine. Out of the box, shooting a few mags of mildly hot 9mm earns you a stinging trigger finger. After mounting a RDS, the trigger slap was softened and all but unnoticeable. The Glock-type safety dingus isn't really a problem. I'd put about 100 rounds through it before I installed the Vortex Venom RDS, and the trigger slap was unpleasant enough that I was considering getting rid of the gun. After installing the RDS and putting 250 more rounds through it with considerably tamed trigger slap, I feel like it was built and intended for RDS use exclusively. Sights are very much a "combat hold" setup, where the POI is about where the white dot on the front sight is. I was using a 6'oclock hold at about 10 yards and my group was about 1.5"-2" below the 1" dot that I was resting atop my front sight. Accuracy was about average for your typical $400 polymer combat pistol, about on par with my S&W M&P 1.0s, at least while shooting irons. The rear sight notch is a bit too wide for me, so that likely contributed. With the RDS, accuracy seemed to tighten up to the point I had no complaints. Reloads were not as fast as I'd have liked. The front of the magazine extends up into a "tab" that is prone to catch on the frontstrap side of the mag opening. The mag opening has a pretty good bevel on the rear but not on the sides or front, which are thin; and the recessed area on both sides doesn't do you any favors, either. The mag release button is a bit small and requires me to twist the gun just a bit to hit it reliably, but since this is an ambi mag button, I may just work on hitting it with my trigger finger instead. At least the mags eject briskly. Slide release is large and easy to hit but not big enough to be in the way. The gun doesn't seem all that fat, but the only holster it would fit in is the one for my Steyr M9, which, along with the Beretta APX, has the fattest slide of any gun I own. Fortunately, the Steyr, APX, and Masada all fit very nicely into the same holster, so that what I'll use. Reliability was 100% with my ammo, which are 115 gr coated lead reloads running about 1200 FPS. Summary: An exceptional value at a little over $400. Trigger slap is something to watch out for, maybe it was just my gun, but installing a RDS made that a non-issue. Due to its magwell, mag changes are a little slow. Accuracy and reliability earn an "A" for me. Sights adequate but not optimal.

  19. Build this gun about 3 years ago intending to shoot it in USPSA Limited division. Of course life gets in the way (new child, building house, etc.) and kept me out of the sport another couple of years. Looking forward to shooting my first match in a decade next month. 20. If you need a car or some other big ticket item and you don't have the money to pay cash for it, you need a different one that you can. I paid off a car in my twenties and continued to make the payment to myself in a special account until I needed another one. Haven't financed a car in many years. Keep all that interest that would go to the bank for yourself.

  21. We all get very busy with our careers so our family can be prosperous. But spend all the time you can with your kids. When you retire and have plenty of time to spend with your kids; they will be busy, and will have to try to work you into their schedules. You owe it to your kids to teach them that life is not fair. There are winners and losers. They will be judged when they enter the workplace. Teach them they don’t have to respect the person; but they will respect the rank. (“Rank” could be teachers, bosses, cops, etc.) Teach your kids to not be criminals, drunks or drug addicts. A big part of that is by example. There is a lot of good recommendations here about money. Heed them; life is easier when you have money. Don’t live beyond your means.

  22. Tested mine this morning. Put 60 through each one loaded to 15, plus one in the chamber. They run. Now I will run a box of carry ammo (Hornady 115 Critical Defense) through each and start carrying them. I'm ready to buy Shield stock.

  26. Thanks all. I definitely should have learned to be better about money sooner in life. It's not everything, but it does frequently represent options. I'd add, be honest with people even if it's not what you think they want to hear. Polite, caring, diplomatic, yes, but also frank and complete. Even if it makes you feel uncomfortable. A good start: tell another man that you care about him. Look him in the eye and say those words. It might make you squirm, it might make him squirm, but it'll be good for both of you.

  27. Got mine this past week with the aluminum mag catch. They work great in my 43X so far. No problems. Crazy to have 15+1 total rounds in a small package. Don't know what else to say about them. If you have questions feel free to ask.
