  1. Pricing an AK is easy. Gun-broker/Armslist or check the classifieds on the AK Forum or the AK Files, but you'll need to check the sold ads. Yes, people ask a lot more for things they think they can, Childer's receivers included. What they sell for is a different matter. Don't mean much on a personal build. As to your response to Magiccarpetrides, a new dude with 15post would be better off to receive info or PM a trusted source than posting an obvious forum tactic of newbies to sell stuff without a proper add. Magic has been around awhile and knows pricing and sales far better than you could imagine. As well as how to be part of a forum community.

  2. Show her the fundamentals, then let her practice on her own at the house. Don't watch. Write off the truck bumper, tail lights, and bed corners before she starts. Whatever you do, don't tell her that she is doing it wrong.

  4. Pull the bolt out. If it closes now, you don’t have the bolt and charging handle properly seated. If that isn't it, like Chucktshoes said; you need to post pictures.

  10. Teach her to use the mirrors, not look over her shoulder. Best place is in a big parking lot, try to keep it between the lines. Last but not least, get some one else to teach her, yall might not talk for a few days.

  11. Lol man just become a benefactor and list it for sale ...it’s very obvious what your doing here. I think it’s like $35 for 6 months. Who knows maybe you can turn a buck off several builds if your so inclined but please do it the right way. Also as to value an unknown person building one in Knoxville isn’t going to bring as much as an established company...I personally wouldn’t buy a home built AK unless I knew the person who built it had some actual gunsmith credentials (like Xtriggerman on here).

  12. Best advice I ever got was to put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel so that the trailer turning will match up with the direction the wheel is turning like you’d expect when backing a car. Small inputs on the wheel with short trailers. Maybe find a good double width ramp and practice during the week.

  13. It's been a while since the wife went fishing with me, but I would back the trailer in, wife would be in boat when I actually launched the boat and then she would crank it up and idle around while I parked the truck/trailer. She would idle back to the dock and pick me up. When loading up, I would back the truck/trailer down to the water, and then load the boat. She would pull the rig up to the top and park, she didn't have to back up or make any serious turns. It worked fairly well for us. YMMV It would be easier to teach her how to control /drive the boat, from starting the OB when launched to dropping you off at the dock and idling around while you get the truck/trailer for loading. It takes time but just have to avoid the weekend crowds so she won't freak out. Boats bounce off the docks pretty good, and usually just a minor scratch or scuff mark is the only damage. JMO .

  14. I figured it out. I had tightened the buffer tube too far and it was rubbing the upper. I loosened a rotation cranked down the castle nut (of course lost a spring in the process of releasing the face plate back) and they fit like a glove. I still swear I had it that many rotations before I had cleaned but oh well.

  18. I relented this morning and went to the doc....well I should say the wife relented. Got the full exam, saw the ortho doc as well. Slight tear it seems so follow prescribed treatment/rest and we will take it from there. At this time surgery seems like it's not required. Got some drugs and the wife gets to do my chores as well as hers for a while. I've had my share of plates/pins in bones...shoulder, wrist...heart attack and quad bypass, onset of arthritis and other stuff. I've become spoiled, especially over the last ten years in that I've been able to still do what I need and want to do from cutting trees, trimming bushes, cutting and trimming grass, carpentry, knife making, shooting and whatever else. I never wanted to imply there isn't a ton of folks that have it worse than me. I was just whining and complaining that I couldn't get out to my shop is all. I'm not much of a sitter...never have been. Thankfully there is plenty of stuff to watch on you tube "how to stuff mostly".

  20. Thanks for the review TripleGGG. As an instructor we of course want to see the improvements in the student’s shooting skills. But as anyone who trains with me knows, skill without mindset and skill without the ability to read the signs of impending criminal assault and skill without the education to make faster decisions does little to help you. The best shooter in the world will lose every time if the fight starts before he realizes a fight is about to happen. And all the shooting skill in the world is useless if you don’t actually carry your gun with you. So when students tell me the class improved their confidence and their shooting, changed their mindset, made them more aware of their surroundings, and has them carrying more often it puts a huge smile on my face. Hope to see you guys again in class !

  23. Not really, but permitless carry is a more accurate name for this bill. There are still too many remaining restrictions not addressed by this bill to consider it constitutional carry.

  24. Same here. Left in Fall of '18 and Right in Fall of '19. Total replacements on both. Still have big-time swelling in right leg. Degenerative disc disease in lumbar spine as well as arthritis in back and now hands. And just to make things interesting...tendonitis in right elbow. So I hit 68 this year and all the physical restrictions have kicked in. Not a happy camper. My point is....the "Golden Years" ain't having much gold for most of us. But for you GT and you E4 I offer prayers for recovery. For the rest of us...suck it up.

  25. I pull a large box trailer occasionally and my wife usually rides with me. She will spot if I have to back it into a tight space. My two best tips on communicating between the spotter and driver. First, have the trailer spotter use their phone and call the driver. The driver answers using hands free. You both can talk normally and hear every word. Great two way communication. Second, if the spotter sees something going wrong, they say STOP and the driver stops immediately. Work out whatever needs to happen next while no vehicles are moving

  31. With snubby revolvers, sometimes the muzzle/cylinder blast is as or more objectionable than the recoil. The first thing we rented when shopping for my wife was a. 38 snubby. She hated it, and so did I. Not horrible outdoors, but it was terrible at an indoor range. I found the 4" .357 nicer to shoot than the .38 snubby.

  40. I’m sure a lot of people in VA thought that too, until the Party of the Anti Gunners, took over both houses and the Governor’s office. Now look where they are. Protests seemed to have turned away the worst of the proposed anti gun bills. But I doubt such tactics will work in DC, Should that same situation happen. Be ever vigilant. It probably won’t pass this time, but this time next year, we could all be facing this again, with votes enough in both the House and Senate to send to President Biden for his signature.

  42. As someone who teaches other folks to back a trailer for a living, I endorse the advice to have someone else do it. Barring that, ensure that no matter what happens you keep a calm and measured tone. Recognize when she is fatigued and stop the lesson. After the basics of how to turn the steering wheel and learning to anticipate the trailer, the best thing you can do is just let her poke around and get the feel of it. Your number 1 job is to spot and ensure that she doesn’t hit anything. Any time she backs and doesn’t hit anything or jackknife the trailer and damage it or the truck is a solid Mark in the “win” column.

  44. One of the best things I've ever done. The firearm skills he showed us, and how to practice to get proficient were priceless, but the mindset may have been the biggest WOW of the training. Not only am I more observant but I have multiple plans as I'm moving about. Dry firing and practicing the scenarios is now getting to where it is 2nd nature. I also know if I miss a couple of days of practice (it's happened twice since our training) I notice a difference. So practice is extremely important for firearm and mental skills.

  45. This is my favorite paragraph. I can just imagine the howling coming from die-hard AR fans. Much thought has been given by the conference to the subject of semi-automatic actions for scout rifles. If a semiautomatic action were made which was sufficiently compact and otherwise acceptable, it should certainly be considered, but at this time there is no such action available. The whole concept of great rapidity of fire in a rifle has been weighed and found, not exactly wanting, but somewhat inconsequential. About the only circumstance in which a rifleman might need a volley of quickly repeated shots would be in the unfortunate and unexpected event of a "house clearing." Such a problem mightarise for a lone rifleman but the chances are very low. The primary purpose of a rifle is a first-shot hit, whether the target is game or a human antagonist. Semi-automatic fire does not assure this. As a matter of fact it sometimes detracts from it by letting the shooter believe that if he misses with his first shot he can always make up with a second. This is a bad attitude for a rifleman. As a result of these deliberations all prototype scouts will be bolt-actions unless and until something new in the way of the semi-automatic action appears.
