Don’t you know that it’s impossible for anyone other than white people to be racist?4 points
-
I’ve watched his ads on YouTube and they don’t come across like that to me at all. It isn’t “I’ll be your racist” it’s “My values are your values, but I’m not white, so they can’t call me racist.” In the era of demographic warfare and intersectional feminism, it’s a powerful card to be able to play in these kinds of debates.3 points

It’s not rocket science. The things are designed to cover mouth AND nose. I’ve seen plenty of ignorant people running around wearing masks with their noses hanging out and it’s just further proof to me that we are only as strong as our weakest link....and there is no shortage of those.3 points

I’ll go as far to say that we are all being played. It’s the greatest social control experiment the world has ever seen.3 points

I don't know how many of you have been listening to the news but they have been talking about the channel Markers on the lake not being where they are suppose to be. Some of the main channel markers he moved out of the main channel and are in shallow water knee deep and they need to be put back on the deep water. I did see yesterday that the Corps had boats out there putting the markers back where they are suppose to be but they said it will take a couple more weeks to get all of them where they need to be. Just thought I would post this for folks that may be planning an outing on the 4th weekend on Priest Lake that if you don't know the lake well make sure you have your GPS on and are watching it so you don't tear up a lower unit of worse get hurt by running a ground. Just be careful if your going to Priest Lake. If it is not to far out of your way you may want to go to Old Hickory Lake as those channel markers are where they are suppose to be. My so in law was on Priest Lake 3 weeks ago and he told me that many of the markers were in the wrong place but he knows the lake well but he still had his GPS on and was running by it. Be safe!!2 points

Any positive habit is better than what the alternative could be! I have heard several doctors say that the Virus can't survive long in direct sunlight yet look at all the people that have tested positive after a day at a hot sunny beach. So what does one believe?? I actually have not changed much except I just stay home. My Daughter and Son In law do all my shopping for me cause they are out everyday for work and they both wear masks and do the hand sanitizers routines before bringing my food in the house and I have also got Lysol and other spray sanitizers that I spray the counters with after I put my food up. The doctors have all agreed that the food packages are not likely to contain many if any viruses. After I get the food up I wash my hands with sanitizing soap and then follow it up with hand sanitizer lotion. I also live in the sticks about 25 miles from the nearest town and 50+ miles from the nearest big city which is Nashville. I do have times I would like to just go out for a drive in the evening but Jeep is broke down and won't be fixed for at least a week or longer. It's funny but I never use to watch golf on TV but recently I look forward to it coming on so I can watch it. I do have a good friend I email quit often and he replies back pretty regally and that helps also. I do hope everyone here stays safe and we all get through this un-harmed!!!2 points

I have a package of N95 masks. I keep two in my van. Here's how I use them. Prior to going into a store, I put on the mask, making sure that I pinch around the nose to get a good seal. What works best for me to get a good seal is to keep the lower elastic band around my neck and the upper band above my ears. In the store, I don't touch my face, but I don't worry too much about touching the mask... more on that later. Upon leaving the store, I unpack my cart, put it away, get in my van, use hand sanitizer on both hands. Then, using only the elastic bands, I remove the mask and place it facing up on the dash in full sunlight. I'm careful to only touch the straps since the mask might have gotten exposed to virus. Then, I reapply a little hand sanitizer on the tips of my fingers that touched the mask. Any coronavirus that gets on the mask will be killed in minutes in full sunlight. Or, at least, that's my belief. Should I need to go into another store in a few minutes, I either leave the mask on or I switch to a clean mask for the second store. I also carry a tiny spray bottle of alcohol that puts out a mist. I use that to clean the steering wheel, workout gloves, keys, etc. It's really not too inconvenient to do this once you make it a habit.2 points

If you were running a hospital as a business (pre-pandemic), would you keep a surplus of unused and very expensive equipment? They don't either. The best efficiency point is just below 100% occupancy. You need only enough beds to be able to clean and turn them. As for masks 100% of the time... Is that really in our best interest? Seems to me it would certainly reduce the rate of transmission of lots of bugs, which is good in the short term. Long term, doesn't herd immunity need to be established with the end goal of a healthier population? If a location is having an outbreak and the medical resources are nearing capacity, then measures to limit transmission are appropriate. If the medical resources are in good shape, then continuing with herd immunity seems the best long term solution until a viable vaccine is produced.2 points

All of my 401K, Roth and our joint brokerage account are in Vanguard. My wife's 401K and Roth is in Fidelity. I do all the management myself on both and have for years. In two firms because at the time I thought it better not to put all the eggs in one firm. I was scattered out across 5 or 6 investment companies at one time and slowly moved everything into two for easier management. The short time I tried out a financial advisor, I started him with $10K with the promise of more when he showed me what he could do. In 2 years he lost half of it and talked me out of investments that if I had made and held them till now would make me about $500K richer and that was using just a portion of the $10K. I have most of my 401K split between whole stock market and whole bond funds. Roth's and brokerage account split between a few other more focused index funds in areas that might give a bit more growth. My long range plan, starting in my late 20s, was to have enough stashed that I could retire at 55 if I wanted to. Until the 2000 tech ballon blew, I would have been ready at 50. I rebalance my accounts and started switching to the approach I still use now and was ready at 55 but work was fun at the time and I waited till 57 when the company was looking for volunteers to reduce size and offered a year's pay and bridge insurance till I was 65 so I took it. As I got closer to 55 I slowly shifted my allocation from 70:30 to 50:50 and I keep it there now plus or minus 5 points or so. One nice thing about Vanguard and probably Fidelity is one call and my wife or I can change to a managed account and start paying them to do what I do, which is very little now that I have picked my mix and allocations. I'm now 72 and we lived off our savings all this time and waited till 70 to start taking SS and have more money now than we had when I retired. Maybe a sharp advisor could have made us more money or maybe not. Everyone has to make their own decision but a couple of good index funds will outperform 70-80% of the actively managed funds that advisors will put you in and you get to pay higher fees for those funds and pay the advisor. If you are into picking stocks you either have to be very good or lucky picking them. When I was doing stocks, every stock I picked went down accept the ones the financial advisor talked me out of and in reality they could have went the other way. Probably more than anyone wants to know.2 points

Work came out with a rule that you have to have a face mask on if you're 6' from someone else. The rule does not say it has to be worn over your nose and mouth so mine gets put on my belt loop.2 points

Pants are less government in crisis mode (where they often enough seize power beyond the immediate need), and more standards of public decency. I think the biggest point of contention is the lack of trust in government that their course of action is right. We went from Dr. Fauci on 60 Minutes (I think it was there) telling us that masks weren't needed, then not terribly long after, having the Surgeon General show us how to make one from a sock or old t-shirt because we all needed them riki tik, to confirming Dr. Fauci was misleading with a purpose to prevent panic buying that would leave medical practitioners without. All that on top of the usual government statistics that people don't trust, an election year making this another issue, Fox News and CNN having opposing views of what's good for us, ect...and people just stopped caring beyond their bubble because they don't know what to believe. I say this as someone who agrees masks are a prudent measure and has my own, but has issues with government mandates around them.2 points

Does anyone know the proper way to wear the face mask to protect yourself and others around you? I asked a doctor friend about all these people running around with their noses uncovered and the mask on only their mouth. He said that they might as well not be wearing one if they are not going to cover their noses as well as the mouth. That is why they test people by putting a swap up the nose because that is were they find the spores for the virus. I was going to look at buying a few masks till my son In law gave me 10 N95 masks which is my understanding are the best on the market. His company buys them by the pallet because his company does spray fire proofing of commercial buildings under construction and they are required to wear the N95 masks to perform their job. I just thought I would bring this up so people that are wearing the masks need to make sure your nose is covered along with your mouth!!1 point

A full, fun day with Randy Harris and 13 other shooters at the Ridge. If you don't know Randy, he is an excellent resource to our area and TGO. I have had a 1/2 dozen classes with him and certainly add to my toolbox with each one. We started with several pistol drills before lunch then after lunch we did rifle drills. Finished the day with transition rifle/pistol. Load of fun with like-minded folks. Certainly get your money's worth, plus it is a local class.1 point

With race not being a consideration with me, both Sethi and Hagerty are saying all the right things. The problem is I have no way of knowing if either of them will keep their promises once they go to Washington. One has no track record, and the other doesn’t have any record on the issues. The only differences I see so far that would sway me would be that Hagerty stands with the Police and the rule of law. He has it on his web site, so he isn’t worried about the votes of those supporting the lies. Sethi does not mention it on his web site. I feel if I have to ask, I probably won’t get a straightforward answer. But Sethi is a trauma surgeon, and Hagerty was an investment banker. So points go to Sethi for that. But it’s a long way to November yet; I’m trying to pay close attention to what’s going on.1 point

I hope the Indian tribe does buy the company. It would be better than the company just closing down. I'm sure the Native American tribe will do a good job of keeping the company in operation. They have proven over the years that they are good smart business people. Also the Indian tribes operate under different laws in many cases such as tax exempt in many of their existing companies such as the Casinos they already operate. ....JMHO1 point

Hence the reason I started reloading 30+ years ago, I always said a #2 iron was a better weapon than a gun without a live round to fire. The only commercial ammo I have purchased in 10 years or so is .22lr.1 point

Technical correction: there is no such thing as virus spores. They are looking for the virus itself. Mold forms spores.1 point

No, and they won't. If I come in contact with someone with caronavorus and report it, I'm required to take 14 days off with pay and no vacation days will be used. It doesn't matter if we had a mask on or not. We don't have to test positive. We've had several guys do this. Out of 30k employees, zero have tested positive. I could use an extra 2 week vacation1 point

Yeah, I follow the market to some extent. I follow a more conservative buy and hold strategy, so yes it affects my portfolios just like everyone else, but the large swings from over-reacting to political or medical news (in these days) are un-warranted IMO. Day traders cause a lot of the large swings/over-reactions looking to make a quick profit or to protect their profits. JMO1 point

Like when discussing what may be wrong with the wife’s car a husband’s opinion doesn’t stand a chance against that of a man with his name on a patch on his coveralls.1 point

Not sure if it was the same model you are asking about, but about 2 years ago, I got the chance to shoot a CZ Bren rifle with a Meopta on it. I found it to have very good clarity, and was spot on at 50 yards(longest I was able to shoot).1 point

Not just anyone, no. - OS You really think anyone is "in control"? As far as getting back to the mask issue itself, science/medicine evolves, generally in a positive way. It took several hundred years to quit using leeches, sometimes only a few weeks to find that a certain virus can be spread by the non-symptomatic, and to realize through experiments/data the effectiveness of its contagion, the duration/distance/concentrations at which it is viable, and the like. Also, certainly there was almost certainly some early dissuasion from the general public using masks due to immediate shortages for health personnel and perhaps also with a mind to keep panic buying as a part of general panic to a minimum. Etc. There seems little scientific debate on the subject now though -- masks can remarkably reduce infections. Same with influenza strains though, so what else is new. Only that this one seems determined to get to the ~70% saturation herd immunity PDQ without intervention. Which of course would solve the problem, at the cost of x million of us of course. But we still don't really know all that much about this damn thing. We may well find that all these folks who get through it, even with little or even no symptoms at all, could have some sort compromised health factor long term, just like some other viruses. - OS1 point

I'm certain we're number one in data dicking. This pandemic is serving several masters here in the good old USA. It's simply harder to embellish the death numbers, even though they have. Yeah, we have better medical, even though some claim it's the worst.1 point

Something just occurred to me, if I’m going into the bait business, a boat would be a legit business expense, right? I mean I have to be able to test out the baits, don’t I?1 point
