  1. Sometimes it’s healthy to just take a break from things for a bit. I heard from him over the holidays, and he was doing fine.

  3. While I make jokes, TWRA is a government agency I don’t mind in the least. They perform their function well and within the revenue provided by their fees. The fact that they are self supporting by the folks who actually wish to make use of their services elevates them in my eyes on basic principles alone.

  4. I have been wanting one of these S&W Model 29-10 44 Magnum's ever since I saw my first Dirty Harry movie. This gun has been at Guns and Ammo in Memphis for sometime. Every time I come into the store I take a look at it. Yesterday I bit the bullet and picked it up. Once I get it to the range I will give an update on how it shoots.

  6. By the way, I had 3d printed a bunch of masks when there were shortages for a number of friends/family in health care work to their spec. I have a bunch left. If anyone wants a 3d printed mask and replaceable filter I will give you one or a few for FREE I just ask that you meet me in Knoxville. The link shows specifically what they are. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4225667

  7. We have seen so many questionable postings and had so many people show up here trying to hunt down people who weren't even TGO members because of bad deals on that site, that we started blocking their URL just to keep people from accidentally hopping over there. I see that I need to tweak the URL filter a bit more now.

  8. I can't even count the number of times we had to ban people from coming here and stirring up drama about people on that site, who weren't even TGO members, because of bad deals. Or the occasions when we would be alerted to the fact that some scammer over there was using photos and descriptions of firearms listed for sale on TGO to post bogus ads on that site. People would Google whatever the key words were and then wind up here looking at the legit ad and raise hell with the legit ad's poster about whatever scam had happened to them on that site. It took us a few times of that happening before we totally figured it out, but after that it was a 100% block for any URLs going there. That place used to be a complete cesspool. I can only assume it still is.

  9. Here is a pic 1911alltheway sent me the other day of the sheath he made for this one. I'll post up some more pics when I get this one back from him, he really did a great job on this one.

  10. Yeah, all you need to do is visit some of our surrounding states to see how good we’ve actually got it with the TWRA. We’ve gotten some world class fisheries under their watch that didn’t exist 20 years ago.

  13. Buddy of mine as that Smith scandium/titanium snub nose 44mag. The real fun is to load a few 44spl and 1 or 2 44mag and give the cylinder a spin. Each trigger pull is a surprise.

  16. Colt 1911 Series 70 in excellent condition and very few marks especially considering the gun was manufactured almost 50 years ago! I have two of these so this gorgeous Pony can be added to your collection! $1,000

  22. Typical Face coverings do nothing to prevent the spread of a virus 5 microns in size average. Especially the cloth covers they sell. Getting sick is as easy as exposing any amount of active virus to a mucus membrane. The greatest risk is contacting an infected surface and then contacting your face either directly or by proxy. From what I've seen the past few months the average person has no clue how to use gloves to prevent cross contamination.

  23. I will continue to do what I've been doing. I'm out in it most days and there are those without masks and then those with masks that are clearly compromised and should not be out in public but yet there they are. Regulations, mandates, laws, it all pi$$es me off. Make no mistake, this is a pecker pulling contest with other cities in the state. I predict Sullivan and or Hamilton County will follow suit shortly. Got to keep up with the Jones's.

  25. I've got a 6" Model 29-8. Its a classic all right. Every gun owner should at least experience one. Honestly, I very rarely shoot it. For big bores I much prefer the .44 Special and .45 Colt. I'm just not a fan of all that buck and roar of the big magnum. The only reason I have it is because it was left to me when a dear friend passed away. Believe it or not, that cannon was his EDC.

  30. Sadly, I think we've all done similar things. I know I have. Can't really even tell what the worst was. But I did walk away from a consecutive serial number set of Smith revolvers once. With my wife standing there telling me to buy them.

  32. Dennis.. RE:... This... "... .This is just a personal opinion and I'm not disparaging the Big Dots. I tried them on one of my handguns when that 'fad' was at its peak. The lollipop system goes against my 60 year shooting experience of regular sights. I'm growing to dislike the accumulation of all these birthday candles and have to wear bi-focal's to see halfway decent..." I had some of the same problem... I found the " trick " wuz to draw the center of the bead down into the " vee " for a" fine bead " as the old timers would say... I found it worked like a charm. leroy

  34. It’s not rocket science. The things are designed to cover mouth AND nose. I’ve seen plenty of ignorant people running around wearing masks with their noses hanging out and it’s just further proof to me that we are only as strong as our weakest link....and there is no shortage of those.
