  1. Given today's climate, I think it's prudent to set the, "a typical gun fight is less than a 3 round average" thinking to the side. So for me and whichever gun I'm carrying, I'll have a spare magazine.

  2. Are they all picture books like the Time/Life series or are there some actual reading books? Not saying I’m interested, but curious enough to know...I’m a WWII nut. I’ve culled tremendous amounts of books the past few years. They’re not worth all that much, take ups tons of space, and relatives will be cussing you when you shove off. I’ve been through it all before. So, why don’t you just post some pics of the splines so we know what you’ve got.

  3. Chad Nichols has been down there forever. And Chad hosted a lot of events down there. Well a few years back Les George and Brian Fellhoelter were both looking to move and both of them moved to Mississippi. Brian went a little further south though. Memphis has a ton of great custom makers within a few hours drive.

  5. If you end up replacing the barrel, let me know what you want for it. Regardless, here is a video on taper pins. The key is to use a punch larger than the pin head. You put the punch over about half of the pin head and give it a good solid whack. That frees it and then you can move to an appropriately sized punch to remove them the rest of the way.

  8. Grab a Gun in Coppell, Texas keeps them in stock so I was able too pick it up today. I haven't shot it yet, but it looks and feels good. I've never owned a 1911, in fact, over the last few years, I've gotten rid of all my guns with a hammer and bought a few striker fired autoloaders. It'll be interesting to see how this shoots.

  9. Reminds me of the tiger stripe G.I. Joe camo. Or if Aquaman had an AR. Might think in reverse and see how much it would be to cover it up. Just depends on how thick that coating is.

  10. I couldn't agree more buddy. The people in China have been wearing masks as long as I can remember. They know not to trust their government either..... I wish everyone that gets them would take them to their local health departments so they can box them up and mail them to the Government office in China!!!

  11. The more time you spend on the porch the more use to you they will get and soon they won't pay you no mind unless it's a new bird. I have a buddy that has a covered deck and has 10 feeders hanging all the way around it and it doesn't matter how many people are on the patio sitting or walking around there is always a bunch of birds buzzing around the feeders and there is times that 5 or 6 birds will come wide open right down the middle of the cover patio between and around people just like we ain't there. He goes thru 100+ lbs of sugar a summer. He buys bags of 40 pounds at Sam's. He has a small refrigerator on the patio and his wife keeps it full of food for the birds.

  13. This is probably the only thing that the Postal Service is delivering on time nowadays. State agriculture officials are urging the U.S. Postal Service to stop delivering the mysterious seed packages that have been arriving in mailboxes across the country, mailings that federal officials believe are coming from China. https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/u-s-postal-service-is-urged-to-stop-delivering-mysterious-seeds

  14. Our hummers seem to be on the skittish side as I smoke on the screened-in porch out back where the feeder is. Unless I move very slowly, they take off from the feeder, but return soon thereafter. I was standing out on the deck this morning and one landed on the feeder and drank some, but it kept one eye on me just to be sure. LOL

  16. About 12 years ago I learned something about them that surprised me. I went out on my patio back where I use to live and found an injured bird on the concrete and I picked it up gently and cupped it in my hand and took it in the house and thought it might be thirsty so I filled a lid from a milk jug and put it in front of the little guy and he was not bash full at all. He drank till I thought he was going to explode. I began calling people to find out where I could take him to get him help. I finally called the TWRA to see where they took injured wild animals and they told me to take it to Waldon's Puddle in Bordeaux so I called them and they told me to bring it up. Long drive but well worth it. They took him down to the examining room and checked him over. They said his wing was injured but not broken so I gave them a donation and they told me they would sent me updates on his case. About a month into it they send me a video of him in the flight net that was where he was in with 3 other birds and his wing was about healed and they would be keeping him for two more weeks until the migration should be about ready to start. They sent me a video of him when they released him and he was well nd took flight out of the lady's hand and was gone. What I learned is that they are very trusting little critters cause when he was in my hand and I put food in front of him he ate it while in my hand and didn't even try to get out of my hand. I made him a small box to stay in with cheese cloth material and he ate out of that milk cap for 3 days till I could find him help and he never once tried to get out of the box when I would open it to put his food in it. I don't think they are as afraid of humans as many people think they are.

  18. Actually, I miss-typed the above. It's 5 Billion years, not millions. Basically, they take what they know from experiments and plug it into a incredibly powerful computer system to calculate what will happen. As far as God is concerned, He dictates our physical reality whereas science attempts to explain it.

  19. I can vouch for ammoseek. @Mseals22 told me about it so I set up an account. Within a week I was able to purchase 5k small rifle primers before they were gone.

  20. I should rephrase my statement, "taken" isnt really the right way to put it. You're just paying more than what you could if get an ammoseek account and watch for them to pop up which they seem to do every couple weeks somewhere. You're right in that the market value is just the value right now. Supply is low, demand is high.

  22. Yes, the human body is a marvelous thing, but it's also a maze of parts that react differently to our environment and our foods. From person to person, sometimes it just doesn't like certain things. Be careful and be safe my friend.

  27. As Clint Smith has said, a revolver speed loader is nearly as big and bulky as another revolver. New York reload actually does have merit.

  30. If you want auto, Protech has a few that are less than an 2 inches. I have a few Kershaw Chives and the smaller Sog Flash. I'm not a huge AUS8 fan, but I like every thing else about the Flash and it doesn't feel like the safety is needed in the pocket.

  31. Exactly. Just because it's unlikely doesn't mean it won't or can't happen, especially with the sudden idiocy one can encounter in public nowadays. The "average" gunfight is two or three shots at six feet or whatever. If this is actually a calculated figure, that means some gunfights were more than two or three shots. If you believe the "experts", all you need is a j-frame with two rounds in the cylinder and be able to hit a pie plate at five feet

  32. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22-250_Remington The .22-250 Remington is a very high-velocity (capable of reaching over 4000 feet per second), short action. WOW that is a ripper!!!

  33. Yes I sharpened a couple and fell in love, the autos have dual springs to push the blade very nice action i had no idea how beefy they were

  34. Got it figured out with the help of an old friend. Its a 22-250. Thanks for the thoughts and help. Not the 280 i had planned for but a fun round nonetheless. And cheaper to shoot! Will probably let the wife and kids take it over .

  35. There is no federal statute mandating that a private business, a person, or an organization must accept currency or coins as payment for goods or services. Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether to accept cash unless there is a state law that says otherwise. Section 31 U.S.C. 5103, entitled "Legal tender," states: "United States coins and currency [including Federal Reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal Reserve Banks and national banks] are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues." This statute means that all U.S. money as identified above is a valid and legal offer of payment for debts when tendered to a creditor.

  36. Got the black manual. Like it so far but it is much larger (thicker) than I expected. It makes the Protech TR4 seem small and svelte. Which is no easy thing to do. I don’t think I could break it if I tried.

  38. Eh we kill so many on my lease it's nothing new, I keep them baited year round. But 50 yard shot outta a blind, with a Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08. I shot the big sow and Trevin got the smaller boar. We had been in the blind 20 minutes before they showed up.

  42. Know that the brass being damaged when your shoot it is normal. You won’t be reloading it. It’s because of the fluted chamber and the roller delay system. HK91s just destroy brass. Nothing wrong with the gun it’s just how it is and there’s nothing you can do to fix/change it. Just a heads up.

  43. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Changes to the law should require the legislature to make changes; not some ATF hack. Just like with AG opinions, the courts are not bound by ATF rulings. The ATF states that on their website. If a DA decides to charge you for using a brace as a stock; there is nothing to keep them from doing that.

  45. I said something similar as I was walking out of Walmart with my limit of one little package of hamburger at twice the normal price. Speaking of price and availability of products; for a number of reasons I think what we're experiencing is going to be the new normal, or at the very least last a long time? Just like famine, it's not that food isn't available, it's the price that is prohibitive or government / controlling forces restricting it. This time next year in hindsight, I could be thinking what a bargain 9mm was for $0.43 per round was, I wish I had bought more. 8/22/2021 USPSA / IDPA: Due to shortages and the overwhelming amount of requests, we have added three new divisions; spear chucking (SC), optical sling shot (OSS) and tactical target rock (TTR). Rock can only be made of [insert material here], weigh no more than 4 ounces, a diameter of no more than 0.50 inches, with a PF of no more than a Nolan Ryan fastball. Wind ups and hesitations are prohibited in Production and Carry Rock (CR) divisions. Exceptions: Super seniors may wind up as they hesitate because of their age; unintentional trips and falls to the ground, there will be a three second procedural, and no longer a D.Q. as long as the rock doesn't break the 180 rule or is discharged. Yea, I got better things to do, but I'm waiting for daylight

  47. I have a couple of buddies that reload, and I thought I'd buy me the Dillon equipment to start reloading myself during the two year Obamazation shortage. Along with no one being able to obtain ammo, no one could find powder or primers for reloading, so everyone was still in the same boat. It's more expensive but, it's just easier for me to stock up on ammo rather than everything needed to reload. And at my age, I only have so many bend overs to pick up casings, maybe 4 or five?
    1 point
  48. Crazy prices. Having lived through the Obamazination I'm adequately prepared. Let me say again, learn to reload. I'm still seeing an asston of empty brass on the ground.
