  1. Definitely put it in the garage, especially if it’s 950 lbs. You can always get a smaller safe that would fit in a closet for your “need to get them quick” guns.

  2. Today a guy bought my 1903 Springfield rifle for 7 bones. I was going to put that money toward a AR45 build but like an idiot I cruised GB for odd ball things I had handled over the many decades passed that I took an interest in. One of those was a rifle that one of my clients used to hunt in various countries. I don't remember the cal his was in but the one I won is in 308 and that's one of my stashed ammo cals for my 2 FAL's and 2 98's. So this one has some wear & tear on it but nothing major from the pics. The GB pics dosent show the action in the open position so I found this old add that has great pictures of one in 270. Mine is identical other wise with no scope. Trust me, if you like a smooooth working action that feels and sounds right when racking it, this gun is amazing. The design & workmanship of the action is pretty mind blowing in its function. Scored it for a hair over a grand. https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/rifles/mauser-rifles---model-66/mauser-bauer--scarce---model-660---270-caliber.cfm?gun_id=100907820

  3. Yeah, they told me the biggest issue is moisture and you can co trail that with a dehumidifier. I was the same as you in thinking that it should go inside. I’m not worried about theft as much as child safety and general nosy guest safety. If someone wants something they’ll likely get it if they have enough time. Adding a switch to the hole alarm is a cool thought I may do. Bolting them down is the biggest theft deterrent as event the less expensive safes need to be laid down for easiest access. We could put it in the master closet but would have to remove some custom shelving and not sure that’s what I want to do. I have an office that I’m really leaning towards as a likely indoor location. I want it indoors mainly because I’m a pussy and don’t want to sweat while fondling my guns daily

  4. I use to load a lot of IMR4350, it measures like a bad dream. I just ran the measure sort of firmly. Seemed to work ok.

  7. Prior to going to the DMV make an appointment online. It will keep you from having to wait in those long lines. The wife and I drove up, there was a long line and people were sitting in lawn chairs. We told the lady at the door that we had appointments for Real ID, she let us in and we were finished in about 15-20 minutes. When we left, the same people were waiting at the door. It feels weird having to have a star on my ID to travel in the states.

  9. I'd never seen anyone try to demonstrate using a firearm for self defense against a dog so I thought about what it would take. Luckily, I got in touch with a group that trains working dogs for military/police and they let me come out to get attacked. This was all new to me and I wanted the stress inoculation of experiencing what it was like for a dog to be latched on to my arm and to try and deploy a firearm. Anyway, I hope someone learns something. YouTube video here.

  10. My big safe had a pop out plug in the back to run a cord through then you put the plug on after it is through so the hole is small and low in the back. I have a Golden Rod dehumidifier in mine and put a gauge inside to keep an eye on it and it stays between 42-45% in my drive in basement. My small safe is a Winchester, about 100lbs not fireproof, from Tractor Supply, that is in our walk in closet. Both are bolted to the walls/floor. The small safe has one of those rechargeable dehumidifiers.

  12. “Hole” is a problem. While its rated fireproof, I’d rather not make another hole in it.

  13. Thanks to Defender and Links2k for the information. Depending on the next few months, I'll see if I have the inclination or the need to fly anywhere.

  14. Mine has been in the garage since 2008. It’s not the best climate but do have rechargeable dehumidifier that does well. Also keep everything wiped down. I did buy silicone laced sleeves for longer things. edit to add-most newer ones have plugs to get power into the safe. Mine doesn’t so that’s why I have the rechargeable stuff.

  15. I didn’t even see the one play of the backup QB. Guarantano is very good when he wants to be but after 5 years on the team and starting games for the past 4 years, constantly getting pulled and put back in, his time has come and gone. He can’t get his head right. We’ve been patient with his potential for far too long. TN has had a real bad habit of committing to QB’s who have potential but don’t deliver like they should and that problem has been going on long since before Pruitt took over.

  16. Yeah, I have a small safe, bolting to the floor to secure it makes sense. 1000 lbs ain't going anywhere...

  17. I put mine in the corner of a spare bedroom. The safe weighs around 725 lbs empty. I had Parker Safes get mine in the house. If you need to get the safe in your house I highly recommend them They had to block up the steps to the front porch before taking it inside. I don't have it bolted down but with the weight of everything in it, I doubt it will get very far. I also have a dog and alarm on the house to protect it.

  18. An old time problem with stick powder and these powder measures. We always threw em a bit light, then trickled em on the scales to the exact weight... All the vari volume powder measures have this problem... Sigh... leroy

  20. Big safes won’t go thru interior doors. I would put it in the garage, bolted down with a switch going to your alarm system. Throw a blanket over it so it looks like a safe with a blanket over it. I would want air to circulate underneath safe so I would use spacers with B7 grade bolts.

  21. How much does it weigh? I have a 850# and 550# safes, I cannot even imagine getting those up stairs.

  23. I found this video to be more captivating than the song. This one is actually #3 in a 10 song series that details several generations of the fictional Sparks family. If you go back and watch them all, it plays like a mini movie. It's a good time-suck for about an hour of your day if you choose to go down the rabbit hole. The story is a tragic telling of the horrors of addiction.

  24. You renewed a HCP, not a ccp. Your HCP was changed in name only to an Enhanced Carry Permit. No other changes in what you can or cannot do from previous permit. If you are referring to the 'Real ID' for your driver's license, that was pushed back by at least a year by Covid. I assume you know it has nothing to do with a carry permit.

  25. For any retired LEOs on here, Tennessee now offers a free Retired LEO Lifetime HCP. I just got mine. At my age, I wasn't going to spring for the fees for a lifetime permit, but, for the time to complete a little paperwork, it was worth it for free.

  26. Attended the Lebanon RK show today.......was a really good show (nothing like the old Lebanon shows). Excellent crowd but not over-crowded. Was really nice to see lots of the opposite sex of all ages as well as a great number of younger folks. Definitely not your typical old geezer (like me) show! Plus many new vendors. Excellent inventory of firearms with fairly reasonable prices considering the current environment. Plenty of ammo available at twice last year”s price, but still less than CTD. A nice enjoyable 4 hours.

  27. I must stay away from them !! I've been resisting the urge to buy this for 3-4 days now. Don't need it, would probably never shoot it, and sure wouldn't take it to the woods but what a beautiful work of art.

  28. It's Fernando Lamas, who often appeared as a Latin lover but was also in a large number of Western TV shows and movies. He later moved into directing; mainly TV shows, I think. And he's the father of Lorenzo Lamas.
