  1. They're right in that they're not a good use of tax money. Flying over near empty stadiums when the federal government borrowed $3,000,000,000,000 in one fiscal year is a waste of resources and training hours. I can't imagine flyovers is much of a benefit beyond the flight hours, and right now we need to streamline as much of the operations and training budget as we can while still having combat readiness. So, sorry/not sorry, we shouldn't be seeing flyovers for a random 4pm game early in the season.

  2. Any one have one in Webley 455 or in the 38-200 cal? Neighbor has his grandfathers Webley 455 Mark VI with the shaved cylinder. Wants to shoot it so brings it over to work up some loads. Slugged the barrel at .452, smaller than expected so the 45 acp should shoot in it. I have an Enfield 38-200 spurless hammer version so slugged the barrel .3635. My stock expander die is for the .361 dia S&W crtge. So off to the barn to make a bushing for my Lee powder thru expander die for this project. The Webley 455 was proofed at 6 tons so have to down load from the 45 Acp GI hardball loads which are about 19000 pressure. Settled on 3.2 grs bullseye, 230 gr lrn pc boolits for the Webley. Have some 200 gr. lrn pc for the Enfield. With that long boolit not much room for powder in the short 38 s&w crtge. With the 200 gr boolit the Enfield should shoot to poa at 25 yds. Have always loved the looks of the British top breaks. Would love to have one of the Webley's in 455 with original cylinder. Originals shot a 265 gr lead boolit. Love these older gun with a lot of history . They also made a bayonet to fit the Webley 455 for trench warfare, Up close and personal!!!! If you had to use a pistol with a bayonet in trench warfare would be having a very bad day.

  3. As a taxpayer who understands what a bottomless money pit the government and military is I want more flyovers! Certainly the AF and Navy can spare what is literally a few pilots to show the American people how awesome we are. The people do need to be reminded.

  4. While I'm not overly fond of them, they have value as recruiting tools in some form. Young kids see them at airshows and become enthralled with the idea, so the seeds of military service are planted. Right now I see flyovers as time and money that should be reallocated to combat training, or operational missions of actual value. Same with the Blue Angles and Thunderbirds you mention, just add in we should put those very good pilots back into line duty somewhere as either instructors or into combat formations.

  6. Steve can sharpen it for you. He has a great knife sharpening service. I believe he uses a Wicked Edge system. His edges are very sharp and durable. He has another job besides his knife business so he may be a little slow to reply but will take good care of you.

  7. That's the way I feel about The Blue Angels, Thunderbirds and Golden Knights. Total waste of money !!

  8. I'd never seen anyone try to demonstrate using a firearm for self defense against a dog so I thought about what it would take. Luckily, I got in touch with a group that trains working dogs for military/police and they let me come out to get attacked. This was all new to me and I wanted the stress inoculation of experiencing what it was like for a dog to be latched on to my arm and to try and deploy a firearm. Anyway, I hope someone learns something. YouTube video here.

  9. Here is a Knoxville outfit, 12/21 Designs, whose last post on FB pictures some Kydex made for a BUL. Maybe they can make what you need, although I'm not exactly sure how you're supposed to get a hold of them other than FB. They don't have a website. https://www.facebook.com/twelvetwentyonedesigns/

  11. Don't forget about the people who will return to doing business with them when their prices return to something more like normal. I'm generally not inclined to return to a place that tried to bend me (or others) over when they had the opportunity...

  13. I would hate to have to shoot a dog; justified or not. There are other options. But my chances of being attacked by a highly trained security dog are up there with winning the lottery. Don’t take what I am saying wrong. I’m not saying someone wouldn’t be justified in a dog attack. I’m just saying I personally can’t imagine a situation where it would go that far. Interesting video. But in real life I suspect you would have killed those dogs in every one of those attacks. They couldn’t have stopped you from whatever bad stuff it was you were doing, they could have only allowed a handler to act.

  14. Thanks for this video Tim. My wife and I are currently renting a place near downtown and I've had several dog encounters while walking our dogs. I always carry a gun and a knife. I feel like the chances of me breaking up a dog fight without accidentally shooting my own dogs are really low so I've determined I might have to use a blade if it came to it. This might be difficult if I'm the one being attacked but I guess that's where the gun comes into play.

  15. In my younger, stupider days, I once tried to separate 2 dogs fighting. A neighbor's dog jumped my Chow. Big Mixed breed that didn't seem to like anyone or anything. So it jumped on Cody one day as we were walking the yard. Sudden and vicious. Somehow, I got Cody away from the other dog, but in the process it latched onto my hand. I felt like a feather being blown in the wind. Couldn't really control any movement. I just kept swatting at the dog until his owner got into the mix and got me loose. Had it not been colder weather and me wearing some old insulate gloves, it could have been real bad. As it was, I had several puncture wounds and a lot of bruising. Since all this occurred on our property, and we had witnesses; the other guy paid my ER bills. He soon moved away. No loss there. In short, I DO NOT want to have to tangle with a dog again. Tim, I see your rationale, and salute your guts and determination in doing this. but I think I'll pass on it. BTW, very good video.

  17. Blew the guys flip flop right off. I agree that I am not sure this is the best way to resolve this situation. I like my .308, but it doesn't come close to a .50BMG for stopping engines dead. I think the shot to the guys leg (?) was what really stopped the car, not the hood shots.

  22. I personally know 8 people (including my college age daughter) that have had confirmed cases of COVID and have all recovered. While 3 of them did feel pretty miserable for a week or so, non of the 8 were hospitalized, and most did not go to a Dr. other than for the COVID test. The oldest was 57, the youngest 18. One of the guys who had the hardest time is 36 and is extremely active and fit. One of the guys who had no symptoms other than loosing his sense of taste is 51 and obese. I don’t know that any of them are/were smokers. I work Fire/EMS at a medium sized city here in TN. I work a 24hr shift every third day. So I can speak to at least 33% of the medical calls that we have had since COVID started. As a department (across all 3 shifts) we have been averaging a COVID call about every 8 days, meaning a call with a confirmed COVID patient that is having symptoms that require them to be transported to the hospital. In every single one of those instances that I have taken part in, the patient had obvious previous conditions that put them in the highest risk category. To be clear, these are the same category of patients we work with every day that are having to be hospitalized for and are dying of their previous conditions. They were being hospitalized daily and some were dying weekly before COVID and they will still be doing that after COVID. What I can also tell you, is that our city has seen a noticeable increase in domestic violence, drug overdoses, and suicides during the COVID lockdowns. Those numbers are starting to go back closer to normal as more things have opened up and life returns to some normalcy. For me personally, I think the saddest trickle down effect that COVID has brought us is the isolation of our elderly population from their families. We go into the assisted living facilities daily for various medical calls. To be honest they are not the happiest of places at anytime, but the downward spiral of morale since the COVID lockdowns is palpable. Many of these people have not been able to physically see, touch, and hear their family members in months due to regulations meant to “keep them safe”. We have had several of these patients tell us that there’s no point in going on if they can’t see their family. These comments are not suicidal ideations, they are just stating the facts of life as they see it. We see everyday what it looks like when these elderly people loose the will to keep on living and trying. Very similar to switching off a light, their physical decline progresses, sometimes rapidly once that will to live is gone. The reality is that none of us will make it out of here alive. People young and old are dying ever day from a multitude of causes. It’s always been that way and it always will. We should all take reasonable precautions in life, but if we spend too much time worrying about everything along the way, we aren’t going to live a happy and full life. More than worrying about who’s wearing a mask or who’s not or how they are wearing it or which self serving politician was right about COVID and which was wrong, take some of that energy and make some memories with your family and friends. If you have elderly relatives please find some way to encourage them and love on them. Do it in whatever way makes you and them feel safe, but do it.
