  1. What a loss. He was a true legend. First Guy Clark, now Jerry Jeff. Luckily both of those guys inspired so many, and there’s some great music coming out of Texas these days.

  3. I've been using a combination of different kinds of clover with good luck. You have to cut it up good when mulching in (green manure), but after a couple years I've noticed an improvement. Makes good bee food, too. I've got some kind of pea going in addition to an oat I plan to try to harvest for the chickens this year. Buckwheat makes a great cover crop, and can re-seed if you let it go. Knoxville seed over by the zoo usually has good stuff and saves shipping. I've also been putting daikons out in the pasture area to try breaking up the soil, and its been working well. I want to try a really dense planting in the new garden space we're trying to get going.

  4. Hey everyone, recently I sent away and later received my state certification as a handgun instructor. I know I have to be somehow affiliated with a school to teach the course/have range time, which is where my question comes in. For those of you teaching the handgun safety course as a state certified instructor, how did you go about finding a range to affiliate yourself with? Thanks!

  7. .357. I like .45, but the fact that you could toss some .38spl in there to use with the .357 is a bit of an edge to me. Also means if for sone reason you were stuck somewhere needing ammo, you have twice the optiins. And as far as speed of reloading, look at speed strips or speed loaders

  8. LOL! I hear ya. I've done bathroom remodels and tile-work (laid the bathroom tile in our home we had built 2 years ago, but I paid someone to do the larger areas). Its back-breaking, knee-torturing work! Down here I'm surprised there aren't more... documentationally challenged laborers suppressing prices (seen it in landscaping stone work, which I've also done). But I don't do it professionally and can't recommrnd anyone, my builder was a total douche... you're quite a haul from me, too, otherwise I'd offer! LOL! - K

  10. A New York attorney, representing a very wealthy art collector, called and asked to speak to his client. "Paul, I have some good news and I have some bad news." The art collector replied, "You know, I've had an awful day, Jack, so let's hear the good news first." The lawyer said, "Well, I met with your wife today, and she informed me that she has invested only $5,000 in two very nice pictures that she thinks will bring somewhere between $15 and $20 million; and, I think she could be right." Paul replied enthusiastically, "Holy cow !! Well done !! My wife is a brilliant business woman, isn't she? You've just made my day. Now, I know I can handle the bad news. What is it?" The lawyer replied, "The pictures are of you and your secretary.”

  12. Although I did not agree with the bump stock , I did kinda see their point in banning them. But the SBR and pistol brace makes even less sense. Even without the brace attached, the buffer tube could be used as a brace itself against the shoulder i would guess, almost as good as an add on brace. The lines between SBR and pistols in AR are so stupid as to be conflicting and nonsensical. The ATF has long issued stupid dulings that are not law but can be used to imprison folks, and issues stupid rulings that braces are ok, that also don't have the force of law. WTH? Its time someone reined in the ATF sharply, or disbanded it altogether.

  13. Personally I think driving without headlights should be punishable by flogging. I see idiots every time I drive in the evening that don't have their lights on, and in the fog and pouring rain. Personally I WANT people to see me and maybe, just maybe stay on their side of the yellow line, which is a dream.

  14. Well, I hate to break in to the Covid forum but I thought I would get some garden stuff going. Last weekend we got a start building our new greenhouse. It is a highwall (7.5') 24x48 structure. We did pretty good for a bunch of not very good layout folks. I hope to have it finished by the end of October. Still trying to decide if we are going to do in ground beds, or raised beds or maybe a combination. We like raised beds the most but they are expensive to build; especially now with the cost of lumber... Next year we will be adding a second layer of plastic and a fan to create an air gap between the 2 layers for insulation
