  1. Gun control affecting hobby/self-defense/career-paths is one of those things that isn't likely to happen but when it does we will regret ever doubting its probability.

  2. My sister currently has the virus. She has symptoms and tested positive Saturday morning after having the symptoms since last Tuesday. My BIL and niece still don't have any symptoms and currently my parents who were visiting them don't have any (the next few days will tell.) I firmly believe that there are a ton of people who either naturally can fight it or have had other cronaviruses that give them immunity. The testing is a scam and there are people getting very rich off it.

  3. Flight hours are flight hours. If they take a 10 minute break from practicing refueling and doing touch-and-go's to fly over a stadium, so what? They're also practicing mission planning, coordinating with ATC and ground communications, and a whole host of other operational activities.

  4. Howdy guys! I'm Garrett, in the Chattanooga area of Tennessee. I've set my sights on entering the Gunsmithing industry as I've become more familiar with handling firearms and working with them, to the point where I typically have a fair understanding of them; even ones I've never personally encountered before! I'm a HUGE CZ buff when it comes to brand association, which my lineup of firearms will usually show. Currently, I own a CZ P-09 and a CZ-75B Ω, with many more CZ firearms in my past and prospective future! I generally enjoy Commie-bloc firearms or anything intuitive that comes from the European countries, and my AMD-65 kit build shows that! With time, I hope to not only expand my personal firearms portfolio and knowledge, but to someday develop something new to bring to the table and create a business around it!

  6. If they will take the case... So far, they have declined to rule on a lot of 2A cases. BTW, she's a cougar.

  7. I think this is a trial balloon, but it has to be taken seriously. Some eager beaver civil servants may be seeing what they can line up in anticipation of a handing a potential Biden administration and the AG he picks a gem for the "first 100 days" of action items. People have been absolutely brazen about "pistols", the sales numbers are a thumb in the eye, and it's some very low hanging fruit that doesn't have to go through Congress because they ceded this authority to the ATF because governing is actually hard. The road to what we're facing is pretty easy to see.

  8. Looks like we are screwed. Trump is perfectly content to see them go. Biden actively wants them gone. Election doesn't matter.

  9. Haha - thanks! The PCR has the full-blown CGW pro kit (good eye with the race hammer!), plus 10x bushing and barrel crown with Dawson sights. It is super sweet and very accurate. The 75 is a Shadowline, fully stock (except grips). These came hot-rodded from the factory with no firing pin block, 85C trigger shoe and trigger/hammer upgrades. I haven't found the need to do anything else with it.

  13. Randy Harris (Harris Combatives // "Cruel Hand Luke" on TGO) put on his Surgical Pistol Skills class over the weekend (Sat and Sun) at Windrock Shooting Range in Oliver Springs, TN. I took the class along w/ 9 other local (to Oliver Springs) shooters. The purpose of the class is to help shooters improve their precision and all around shooting skills at the appropriate speed based on size of target/range to target. We started Sat morning w/ some history and background of defensive handgun shooting/training as well as shooting technique. We then moved to live fire drills. The drills tested the shooter and also reinforced the techniques, becoming progressively more difficult over the two days. This included very small targets at close range, medium sized (8x10 ish) targets at long range, and various sized targets AT SPEED w/ both hands, dominant hand, and non-dominant hand. A wide variety of targets were used, including steel. Randy also addressed other topics relevant to defensive use of the pistol, including proper mindset. Shooters were "tested" for a baseline on day one and again near the end of the class. All showed improvement and several commented on specific techniques Randy taught/showed them which helped them solve individual "problems" they were having w/ their shooting. Throughout, Randy was responsive to each student, addressing their individual "problems" in addition to the material included the the course. We finished up Sun afternoon w/ some one-on-one competitive shooting. Nothing better than learning and having fun at the same time! Overall, this was an excellent class and a good value for the money. In spite of long days on the range, there were no complaints from students... which is usually indicative of the students being fully engaged and interested.

  15. I sorta get that. The thing is, it’s hard to find a subcompact 9mm that’s runs as well as a small revolver. I carry my S&W 442 .38spl when I hike. Yeah, it’s a 5 shot, but it weights in at 14 oz. A S&W Sheild and Ruger LC9S both run 17 oz. Of course you get a couple more rounds with that extra weight and they are faster on the reload, but few small autos are as reliable as a revolver, in the woods.

  16. I think tacops hit on the answer there. Only respond to ads with a phone number. Let's just hope sellers catch on to this as well and be sure to put their number in the ad. But then, some folks preferred having that extra layer of the Armlist e-mail system for their own privacy. I know I did. Gives you a chance to scope out the other guy before giving out much personal info. I have killed deals due to sketchy sounding messages. And then, the vast majority of sellers are individuals with only one gun to sell. They just want to make a buck. I kinda doubt they'll be wanting to join up just to sell one gun. So I expect the number of ads to drop considerably. I rarely, ever buy a brand new gun. Most of the current crop of plastic fantastics holds absolutely no interest to me. I like old fashioned blue steel and wood. Most of the LGS in the Memphis area carry very little in the way of used guns and what they have is way over priced. Gun Shows and Armslist have been the primary sources of new-to-me guns for probably the last 20 years or more. I've made some great deals on hard to find stuff. Truth be told, many were impulse buys. Just casually cruising through Armslist ads and suddenly "OOH! I like that!" I have no self control. I guess we'll just have to see how it works out.

  17. They’re saying maybe, maybe not. The ATF could take 2 identical saint pistols and declare one an AOW, the other not and they won’t determine that unless they have the actual item in hand. So all the “Large Handguns” out there are basically Schroedinger’s AOWs at this point. You don’t get to find out until a cop decides he wants to make an issue of it and arrest/seize/submit for a determination.

  18. I'm just trying to understand how this goes down. Say you made a perfectly legal purchase of a Saint AR pistol, the ATF is now saying those would need to be registered as an AOW? And they are banning future imports of similar guns? Or they are just thinking about it? We're talking about millions of guns here.

  19. I suspect they would have to call in the Navy Seals to recover all those guns from all the boating accidents that would surely follow.

  20. Given the choice between calibers, I'd pick the .357 any day. However, I don't think you have to worry about any dangerous animal encounters in TN that warrant either caliber (or the weight). I actually spend far too much time backpacking and camping (heck, I've hiked over 1100 miles so far this year!) and truly suggest you find a lightweight, plastic 9 milli that you don't mind getting wet or losing.

  21. I just purchased a Sig P229 Legion this weekend off of Armslist. The seller posted a phone number in the ad for text or call purposes. Had he not done that I would not have bought the weapon for I was not willing to pay a fee in order to use the "Contact Seller" Armslist contact method. Too many times I have had sellers simply not reply via this method of contact.

  22. I got the chance to meet Randy a couple years ago at a local IDPA match in Cleveland. The person that introduced us didn’t give me much information about him. He just told me, “Randy does some training. You should check him out.” I was waiting for Mr. Harris to give me a sales pitch. Didn’t happen. Randy gave a brief rundown of what he does. That was it. The day ended and he smoked the rest of the squad. There was no chest beating, no look at me attitude, it was just another day. After returning to Knoxville I did a little research. Both online and by word of mouth Randy seemed to have a good standing in the shooting community. I thought that if an opportunity opened up and the right class was offered i’d give him a try. Not only did I attend the class this weekend but my daughter did as well. This class helped both of us greatly. Not once was my daughter uncomfortable. The course was a very professional and well put together. Randy and AJ held our attention both days and did an outstanding job. Guys, we’ll see you again. Thanks, Howler AKA Full Size Target

  24. They’re going to find out that for the most part most of the positive tests are wrong and I honestly believe that when it’s all said and done most of us have been exposed with no results.

  25. Wow. That's really an eye-opening article. So the tests are WAY too sensitive, resulting in up to a 90% false positive rate. ...and that's being reporting in the NY Times!

  27. As posted by Tim from Military Arms Channel This was sent to me for sharing on social media (see link below). The law firm of Wiley Rein is one of the largest law firms in the firearms industry and represents a number of major manufacturers in their dealings with the BATF and regulations. This is NOT a joke nor is it speculation. This is a stark warning of things to come and I hope it prompts you to take political action. This letter is about several things but primarily it is something you should take very seriously because of recent actions by the BATF that will affect any owner of AR15 pistols, AK pistols, HK pistols, etc. Yes, this means your Saint AR pistol or your Draco. That's exactly what the ATF is targeting. There are several things of importance in this email. First: It goes against the Trump administrations Executive Order mandating such regulatory practices cease. The BATF has lead the charge is thumbing their nose at the President and his DOJ under the leadership of Attorney General Barr. Second: Any firearm that has a barrel length that is too long, or the firearm is too heavy will be considered not importable by the BATF. No more pistol versions of rifles will be importable. Third and the MOST IMPORTANT: Through unwritten interpretation of regulations and through private correspondence with unspecified companies, the ATF has capriciously and arbitrarily decided that ANY AR15 pistol, AK pistol, HK pistol, etc. is an ANY OTHER WEAPON (AOW) and thus is subject to the NFA and taxation. Any company who produces such firearms for sale in the United States and any consumer/owner of such firearms are either manufacturing or in possession of illegal AOW's. This is being retroactively enforced. It does not matter if you bought a previously approved firearm. The only way you can be for certain you are not in possession of an illegal NFA item is to personally submit your AR15 pistol, AK pistol, etc. to the ATF for a determination. This can take up to a year and any letter given to you is only for you. The ATF is getting around the EO's by claiming they're not making any permanent determination and their decisions are in essence fluid and subject to change. When you were willing to hand over bump stocks, we warned you it was not about the bump stocks, it was about HOW they were doing it. This is why Gun Owners of America and I are suing the federal government. When they started talking about reclassifying braced pistols as SBR's, you laughed and said people who bought them were stupid. Now, as we warned, they're coming for your regular AR15 and AK pistols. Is it so funny now? WAKE UP! Contact your representatives TODAY and tell them you will NOT stand for the ATF making such capricious and arbitrary rules thus turning millions of Americans into felons over night. Sit silent now and you will have no one to blame but yourselves for what comes next. GET POLITICALLY ACTIVE. Letter from Wiley Rein: https://bit.ly/3otxo2t Contact your Reps: https://bit.ly/3jpVzva

  28. This is painfully accurate.

  29. No, it’s not about the brace. They are declaring the pistol as an AOW. Brace or no, it’s an AOW. It’s $5 to transfer one that’s already been registered. It’s $200 to make one and initially register it.
