  1. Made the trek to the show this am. The crowd was unbelievable. By far the largest I've seen there. Prices? As expected, thru the roof. Saw one box of hunting ammo, box of 20, $80.00. Other ammo ran pretty much in the same track. One dealer had numerous cases of assort. ammo, priced on the roof, people lined up to buy, apparently at any price. Folks, it's going to be a long time before this changes. There was still long lines waiting to get in.

  2. I found a box of Buffalo Bore 45-70 in some stuff in the garage. I no longer own a gun in 45-70. I don't have the stomach to list it for some obnoxious price. I gave it to someone I know that has a gun chambered for it. Not everything is about money. The way things look like they're headed, I don't think money is gonna buy much anyway.

  5. Ok, 1911 lovers, I got this in the Guns America email this week. Ed Brown Products is running a special promotion where you can trade in your old, crappy 1911 mags in on brand new Ed Brown mags. Just send them your old mags and you can get new stainless mags for $10 each or black nitride mags for $15 each. This is roughly half price. I know that many of us have accumulated cheap, unreliable mags over the years. Also some have just worn out, bent or been damaged. Here's a chance to put 'em to good use. I got to digging around in my junk and came up with 14 unmarked, no name, worn out old mags of questionable quality that I have somehow acquired over my 40+ years of being a 1911 fan. Honestly, I've never used the Ed Brown Mags as I prefer Wilson. But they do have an excellent reputation and they gotta be better than this no name junk taking up space here. This is a good deal. I'm going for it. 7. Certainly possible. I happen to have done some genealogy and have tracked my family name. George Adam Kastner 1698-1767. Originally from the Southern Rhine Country in Germany emigrated to the colonies through Pennsylvania and finally setting along the South Fork River in Gaston County, North Carolina. My Great Grandmother's family, the Sparks, were from Cades Cove. I can support my "heritage" while not flying any sort of confederate trash because they remained loyal.

  8. Brad lived in California and was a lifelong environmentalist. He was sick of the world; of Covid-19, Brexit, Russian belligerence, China, global warming, ethnic tensions, and the rest of the disturbing stories that occupy media headlines. Brad drove his car into his garage and then sealed every doorway and window as best he could. He got back into his car and wound down all the windows, selected his favorite radio station, started the car and revved it to a slow idle. Two days later, a worried neighbor peered through his garage window and saw him in the car. She notified the emergency services and they broke in, pulling Brad from the car. A little sip of water and, surprisingly, he was in perfect condition, but his Tesla had a dead battery.

  10. I think you’ll be pleased. The last rounds can sometimes be difficult even with an UpLuLa but once you get the rhythm down you’ll see what it’s all about. Pro tip: stand magazine on solid surface and let the device do the work.

  11. If I have something to sell I'm going to sell at market value, or possibly below if I'm just looking to get something out of the way. I don't recall ever selling any ammo, but if I were to sell ammo today I would price it based on it's market value, just like anything else. What I will not do is find ammo in stock, buy it out and sell it at a profit. Though during the last ammo shortage I was known to buy it up and resell to family, friends, and even some TGOers at the price I paid. Anything to keep it out of the scalper's hands.

  12. You obviously priced the tiller too low. "Fair" is a subjective term, make sure you're "fair" to yourself first ...

  13. Crazy is as crazy does. I bought some .458 350 grain bullets for $18 a bag (100) 10-12 years ago. Good bullets for the 45-70. Tried to sell them locally for cheap and not one taker. I listed them on Gunbrokers with an opening bid of $9.99. Today the bid is up to over $160.

  15. I learned to drive on a 73 CJ and had a couple YJ's. Really fun vehicles if you have good mountain trails around. The last Jeep I had was a 2005 Diesel Liberty. It was a far better road vehicle yet still not bad in the woods but needs a lift if woods is a regular exerciser. I would have kept the Liberty but the Italian motorini engines started having head gasket and valve stem failures. Since I was coming up a 200K, I got rid of it. Too bad, I had a program in the PCM and a number of upgrades, that little Jeep had alot of git up n go. Those Liberties were good vehicles. High milage 3.7's were bad for head gaskets and the 4 bangers were light on power. Hard choice.

  16. She wanted it to come back that she was Jewish just to piss off her great grandfather. She 49% Scandinavian and 30 something % German. 0% Jewish. My best friends wife had it done and she was 40% Asian. The women in her family have always had pride in the face that they were beautiful successful black women. Well surprise you're a beautiful successful woman that happens to be a Heinz 57 like the rest of us. She took it in stride unlike her sister.

  17. I would avoid it at that price. About 2k over market. As Erik mentioned the new mill at 100k miles is a big flag for me especially considering that 4 banger is a tough engine. Trouble you run into is anything larger than stock tires it will be underpowered. Also be aware 1997 models and up are bad to rust. Ive owned several and will buy another one if all the stars align and I avoid the above things I pointed out. Hope this helps.

  18. I would have a hard time paying almost $9k for a 21 year old Jeep with a 4 banger but I don't know what it's worth and they tend to hold their value. Was it rust free underneath? I find it odd they already had to replace the engine at 100k miles but it is a Jeep so....?Ultimately it's your call. Might be worth paying for a Carfax at least.

  19. The 158 gr plated RMR bullets with 6.5 grs of AA#2 and 8.0 grs AA#5 worked out nicely. I was able to keep them on paper (1/2 sheet printer paper) at 25 yards... it'd help if I could shoot a bit better LOL, but the rounds are nice!

  23. "As far as "treasonous secessionists" goes, where does it say a State cannot secede from the union?" In the case mentioned earlier, Texas v. White, the SCOTUS ruling can be briefly summarized as this: While the adoption of the Constitution basically replaced many of the Articles of Confederation as the founding document of the Republic, nothing in the Constitution ever revoked or made null the precepts of the Articles. Since one of the tenets of the Articles of Confederation was the concept that the Union of the States was perpetual and irrevocable, and the preamble to the Constitution stated that the Union should be made "more perfect", the notion that a State may arbitrarily secede from the Union was incorrect and violated both the Articles and the subsequent Constitution. As one justice noted, a "perpetual union", made "more perfect" was inviolable and permanent. The ruling further noted that the only exceptions to this perpetual Union would be by a unanimous consent of the remaining states to allow another to secede, or by a successful revolution, as noted in the Declaration of Independence. In 1869, when handing down this opinion, SCOTUS also pointed out that neither of these exceptions had occurred, as the seceding states had not obtained the consent of all the others prior to their attempt to leave the Union, and their insurrection had failed as well, therefore their actions in attempting to withdraw from the Union of States established by the Articles of Confederation and the later Constitution were illegal and unconstitutional, as were the actions taken during the insurrection. To date, no opinion of any Federal Court has taken issue with this ruling, and the official interpretation of secession remains that it constitutes an illegal act in violation of the Constitution of the United States.

  26. It really pisses me off that the Confederate Battle Flag has been turned into a symbol of hate. I happen to be proud of my Southern Heritage, but I don't dare show it without people judging me wrongly. Another thing is the Celebrate Diversity thing. Be proud of your heritage, family history, national lineage, etc. Except of course if you happen to a Southern, White American. In that case its perfectly acceptable to discriminate and automatically assume that person is a racist, anti-government idiot. Equality is for other people.

  38. adding to what I said above....If your not gonna fly THE FLAG then fly a flag that honors our current generation of soldiers or any of those from say I don't know any campaign that wasn't about dividing our nation. Out of all the wars to "celebrate our history" why anyone would pick the civil war is beyond me. WWI WWII VIETNAM KOREA DESERT STORM OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM but no lets "honor dixie" General Lee would roll in his grave if he saw the stupidity associated with that flag.

  39. He is an idiot for: A: Breaking into our nations capital or just breaking and entering in general B: Trying to halt the democratic process...."stop the steal" has to be the most hypocritic tag line ever made after this debacle C Carrying the losing sides flag from a war that barely lasted 5 years and is a symbol of a divided nation (hell carry the Operation Enduring Freedom Flag...this war is over 20 years old and it has nothing do with us fighting each other) D Embarrassing that during said civil war the losing south never flew the flag at the capital yet here comes this idiot from Delaware waving the damn thing inside of it.

  46. I use a big job box to store ammo inside military ammo cans. It'll accommodate a double or even triple depth, and I lock it with two keyed-alike padlocks. Since these things are designed to make it difficult to steal tools, I figure they're pretty good for ammo. The only trick is deciding which ammo cans go on the bottom layer. I actually drew a map so I can find what I need quickly. The loaded box weighs well over 500 pounds, so it's unlikely a crook will try to haul the whole thing away.
