  1. If we have learned anything in the last 9-12 months you don't need money when you have credit. Just run it up and wait for someone to forgive you for being an irresponsible dumbass in life. Personal responsibility? Soooo last gen !

  2. Fuji is spot on imho. I've recent;y viewed some completed auctions on GB as well. People can be desperate. Some of us may be a bit jaded, as we've been through these cycles before, and prepared for such. But folks new to our passion may not have had the benefit of that foresight. I don't have as much empathy for those that have been through the cycles before and simply chose not to prepare. They have to own that. But I think that is a small minority of what we see going on. Of course, there are those simply trying to turn a buck. But I don't really think that's behind what we're seeing here. Folks are anxious, and rightfully so. Just my ever devaluing $0.02 worth

  4. I was in my LGS yesterday to purchase a new Taurus TX22. While waiting on the TICS to go through, I noticed a new SCCY Pistol with a RD on it. Before I could ask to see to see it, the TICS was completed and my mind went SQUIRREL and I was headed home with my new purchase (which I am very impressed with, BTW, but have not shot it yet). Last night, I did a little research on the SCCY RD and found out they released a new striker fired pistol, called the DVG-1 and it comes with a CT Red Dot, with motion activated On (no button to push) and a battery life of 20K hours. MSRP is $389, but if my failing memory serves me correctly, this was about $299. So who has one or is willing to pony up for one and give us a review? Don't be shy! I know some of you actually own a SCCY pistol. I can't find a range report anywhere on the internet! Just a bunch of Shotshow reviews and SCCY promotional views, one of which I have attached? I may very well go put it in lay-a-way later this week. But no way i am bring it home any time soon. I've bought too many this year as it is and I actually like being married.

  5. I use to browse GunBroker most nights for 30 minutes or so but haven't been on in a couple of months, not worth even looking. Glad the last to handguns I wanted were ones no one in their right mind would want for self defence and still got a reasonable deal and they are .22s and I have plenty that I would rather shoot than sell.

  9. Old Jeeps with the doors off are lots of fun. I get it. $9500 sounds a bit rich too me. I’d prefer the inline 6 in any Jeep.

  10. Sorry was late. I have a 2000 wrangler SE, 4 cyl Wrangler. Had it 15 years now. Drive it work daily from Dover to Clarksville. My engine gave it up at 200k miles. I use slightly taller tires, but not overly large, 235/75-15s and I roll at 75mph the whole way. $8k is a touch high but not bad if all else is in perfect shape. A TJ jeep will last forever with regular maintenance. The things that do need replaced from time to time are much less costly than a payment. I have put 10k in mine overall even replacing the engine. Much less cost than what a new one would be but then I enjoy shop time with my Jeep.

  12. That is the one advantage perhaps in going with an auction. You can set a starting price that is a good deal. If it goes for more, that is not on you. I generally start an item here under market, no takers than I try auction. Id rather have it stay here, but we all know what cheapskates we all are I like to think it’s not rationalizing scalping. It cuts both ways, it’s not like someone is going to offer me a solid the other direction, right? Say, “hey,...whatever you want you get at historically low prices no matter what or when you buy it “ If I choose to buy today of my on volition, I don’t think I’m being taken advantage of. Buyers determine their own needs in a free market.

  13. William W. Johnstone's Out of the Ashes series. Re-reading actually for probably 4th time. Decent stuff from the 80s. Mack Maloney's Wingman series. Pure numbing bs, but fun. And lastly, Jerry Ahern's Survivalist. Again, decent...but his stand alone novels are much better.

  15. If I have something to sell I'm going to sell at market value, or possibly below if I'm just looking to get something out of the way. I don't recall ever selling any ammo, but if I were to sell ammo today I would price it based on it's market value, just like anything else. What I will not do is find ammo in stock, buy it out and sell it at a profit. Though during the last ammo shortage I was known to buy it up and resell to family, friends, and even some TGOers at the price I paid. Anything to keep it out of the scalper's hands.

  16. Yeah no problem. It's like now you're a life member right? So when you pay to upgrade to Endowment life it earns you an upgrade to them begging you to become a Patron life member. When you do upgrade to Patron, then and only then will they anoint you with mailings begging you to pay to become a Benefactor! Finally, you get get to the grand poobah of life memberships... you will be then invited to the Golden Circle of Patriotic Sainthood. I'm not sure if there's and end to it... So to summarize, each time they get you to send another $250-500 they will give you a new title, a new sticker, and a new Chinese duffel bag should you choose to accept it.

  17. Made the trek to the show this am. The crowd was unbelievable. By far the largest I've seen there. Prices? As expected, thru the roof. Saw one box of hunting ammo, box of 20, $80.00. Other ammo ran pretty much in the same track. One dealer had numerous cases of assort. ammo, priced on the roof, people lined up to buy, apparently at any price. Folks, it's going to be a long time before this changes. There was still long lines waiting to get in.

  19. I certainly encourage you to pursue this. However it's a really lousy time to start due to limited availability of powder and primers. Bullets seem fairly easy to find. What caliber do you want to start loading?

  24. I guess when it hits $1.00 a round for .22 I'll let go of a 525 pack. Geez, I hate this! I used to be just fine with going to the range and shooting 100 rounds of whatever. Now I'm trying to just shoot enough to keep current. It sucks.

  25. Looking at recent ended auctions it will get worse before it gets better. There are those that will pay that if they have a 22 firearm and zero ammo.

  27. Cross posting this to events. we have hundreds of thousands of new gun owners in the US. They are panic buying ammo to go with panic bought firearms. I understand their panic, I even sympathize. But I refuse to join the folly. I looked at ammo today on GB and found 30-30 that I bought two months ago for $16 a box bid to over $80. For a box of 20? really? I would like to have a better stash but I have what I need. Stop feeding these speculators who are cutting off our supply only to try to gouge us. where do you think they are buying theirs? when they stop selling because we stop buying from them the ammo will return to the shelves where it was destined to be.

  28. Currently I'm working on Texas Ranger. The biography of Frank Hamer, the man who killed Bonnie and Clyde. Amazing man with an amazing career in law enforcement. Waiting in the wings is Crisis, This is book five and the latest in Kurt Schlitchter's People's Republic/ Kelly Turnbull series. I reviewed this series earlier in this thread and every day its looking more and more that it could become reality.

  30. I think you’ll be pleased. The last rounds can sometimes be difficult even with an UpLuLa but once you get the rhythm down you’ll see what it’s all about. Pro tip: stand magazine on solid surface and let the device do the work.

  31. I found a box of Buffalo Bore 45-70 in some stuff in the garage. I no longer own a gun in 45-70. I don't have the stomach to list it for some obnoxious price. I gave it to someone I know that has a gun chambered for it. Not everything is about money. The way things look like they're headed, I don't think money is gonna buy much anyway.

  33. I would have a hard time paying almost $9k for a 21 year old Jeep with a 4 banger but I don't know what it's worth and they tend to hold their value. Was it rust free underneath? I find it odd they already had to replace the engine at 100k miles but it is a Jeep so....?Ultimately it's your call. Might be worth paying for a Carfax at least.

  37. Watch a few videos, get a good workspace to do it in. It's a bit of a pain with the springs, but otherwise simple. The triggers are awesome. I get the cost can be off-putting to some, but they really do perform that well if you've got the money to blow on cool gun accessories. Never tried the LaRue triggers, but have only heard good things, and know the company makes a solid product.

  38. I'll say it again. Make sure the springs are installed correctly and you'll be good. That's a great trigger. I have a ssa and a ssa-e. Love them both. On my last one I went with something else just to see how much difference there was. It's good but it's not a geisselle.

  43. I use a big job box to store ammo inside military ammo cans. It'll accommodate a double or even triple depth, and I lock it with two keyed-alike padlocks. Since these things are designed to make it difficult to steal tools, I figure they're pretty good for ammo. The only trick is deciding which ammo cans go on the bottom layer. I actually drew a map so I can find what I need quickly. The loaded box weighs well over 500 pounds, so it's unlikely a crook will try to haul the whole thing away.

  44. That bothers me; that’s obscene. No gun rights group should be spending money on a building like that. If they have money like that, they need to be investing it in local elections and local laws.

  46. Yes, I'm dragging this up from the almost dead... I've got several new series started that I haven't made up my mind about. If anything turns out promising I will let everyone know. This is not survival related but I've started read the Corps Justice series by C.G. Cooper. Just general save the day kick butt action by a group of ex-marines. The author lives somewhere south of Nashville and the base of the company that these guys work for is located in the Nashville area. The entire first novel was pretty much in Nashville. This is not deep thinking stuff. Much more along the lines of turning off your mind and drifting through the book while embracing your inner mall ninja... Mark
