  1. The local V A Hospital called me this morning, and I get my first Coved shot on Wednesday(27th) and the second 4 weeks later. Getting the Moderna(S) Vaccine. Will be exceedingly glad. Been told to take a Modem tablet prior. Let you know how it goes.

  4. Pretty sure it's a joke from the inauguration, where he was seen in a chair alone in attendance. There's a million emails and memes going around about it. The sight of him sitting there alone went 'viral' I guess.

  5. No kidding, sir are those treble hooks on that fishing lure? Put the rod down and put your hands behind your back, we are arresting you on the grounds you may hurt a sweet little fish that is swimming in his own backyard minding his own business. Judge says 25 to life!! But Hillary still walks free as a bird!!

  8. For the times I open carry I very much like the Safariland ALS holsters. A tough holster with level II retention that still allows for a quick draw of the gun although it lacks the aesthetics of a finely crafted leather holster. For a hard case I have been pleased with these Pelican alternatives: https://www.harborfreight.com/9800-weatherproof-protective-rifle-case-long-black-64520.html

  9. This is what I do as well. If you really want to get "uptown" in storage, check Amazon for some foam inserts for ammo cans that are precut to hold mags in place. I've got some of 9mm and 556 both. And for real slick storage, you can get some nice molded plastic cans for them as well. Either method will work.

  10. Between the virus and Democrats we can blame them both but in reality I think there is a lot of profiteering going on.

  11. I just get surplus military ammo cans and some dense cell foam and make my own. Metal and water tight. If you are storing for a while, pick up some bags of silica gel (easy to find on Amazon) and drop one in each can to control moisture.

  12. I've went through dozens of holsters before finally deciding on just a plain pancake style leather holster for daily carry. I found a good custom holster maker (https://www.desertgunleather.com) and have been having him make all of my holsters since. I do usually have to wait 4-6 weeks for any new holster. The only non-pancake holster I've purchased in the last few years is I had Rick make an Avenger style holster for the IWI Masada setup for a Holosun dot sight. I prefer leather holsters for comfort. Wet-molded leather has enough retention for my use since I don't plan on running... not even to chase down an ice-cream truck. <grin>

  13. No, that is NOT capitalism, it's profiteering. Capitalism assumes adding value. People who wait on line to buy ammo, then sell it two hours later are contributing mightily to the whole problem. At best it's unethical.

  14. I work at Academy part time and we get ammo in regularly. The problem is the guys standing in line and buying the ammo up to resale. I know it's capitalism but it still annoys the crap out of me. If those people would stop ammo would become much more available, a lot of times we are our own worst enemy.

  15. Been looking at joining a pro- Second Amendment organization again. I used to be a member of the NRA but with all the turmoil going on with them, I'm hesitant. Should I join the GOA instead? Granted the NRA has a large following but GOA seems to have some clout too. Should I join both? Thanks in advance

  16. I was offered the opportunity by a coworker/friend to stop by their place today and learn how to reload some ammo. I was kinda ho hum about it at first but thought I'd try it. It turns out it was pretty fun. We used his RCBS Rock Chucker to load some 9mm and .45 ACP rounds. He showed me how the set up worked and how to use the loading books. The cases already had been prepped (with some exception to the 9mm brass) and the primers installed so that helped. The trickiest part was getting the equipment set up properly and the powder to measure correctly for the loads we were using. Once that was done, and seeing a few examples of how to load the powder and press the bullet into the case, I got to take my crack at it. It took me a little while to get somewhat of a rhythm down. I managed to make about 100 rounds of 9 mm and 100 rounds of .45. After we were done, he let me keep what I made! From other posts I read about learning reloading, now's a bad time to start with availability and pricing issues. Hopefully things will settle down over time and I will seriously look into investing into the equipment and supplies. I wish I had gotten into reloading sooner but better late than never I suppose.

  17. I believe the point is that this was a huge formal occasion for the democrats. Most were dressed in their very best. Then old Bern shows up casually dressed for cold weather like the inauguration was just another stop between the Post Office and the grocery store on the day's to do list. Lots of Dems are pissed off at him for not taking it more serious. Meanwhile the rest of the country is laughing their butts off. Hell, Bernies gettin' more mileage out of the inauguration than Biden did.

  36. I’ve got one of those Harbor freight Apache cases, and it is about as sturdy of a case as I’ve seen. With the coupon you can usually get it for about $110 or so. i’ve also got to say that if you need an overt holster with active retention, the Safariland with the ALS system is the only way to go. Everything else runs the gamut from merely falling short, to straight garbage (Serpa).

  37. well ammo sales have now scratched one of my local stores from my visit/buy from list. Went in last night, said good evening, put my mask on and per the notice on the door proceeded to the table and "sanitized" my hands. I proceeded directly to the ammo isle and found what I wanted. One of the staff came over and asked if he could help me find anything. "No thank you, I found what I need" I made my choice between the two different bullets and picked up two boxes. As I straightened up he returned to tell me they have a limit of one box. (20 rds) in each caliber. Ok, put one box back and made a walk around the store to see what guns they had and prices. I didn't tarry as it was near closing time. I went to the counter and was told "I can't sell you that, we are closed" I bought 60 rounds off Gun Broker this morning. I won't miss the local shop as we have two more and a sportsmans warehouse in town. by the way, the ammo I bought was reasonably priced. Got hit with shiooing of course but the seller messaged me that if I needed anything else he would not charge extra so I could have placed a bigger order and spread the shipping charges out.

  38. For the hard case, how sturdy are you talking about? A cheap Plano from Academy will keep a long gun protected for going to/from the range in the trunk of a car/back of a truck. I wouldn't want to use one as checked baggage on an airline for a hunting trip. You also can't store one on the bottom of a pile of crap without deforming the plastic. For stronger I'd opt for something like that Harbor Freight one if I needed to ship one or store it with stacks of other stuff on top of it. Of course if we're talking about a multi-thousand dollar hand crafted O/U shotgun, Pelican all the way.

  39. A friend of mine sold 15K Primers to a gun shop for $125 per K. The shop set up at a gun show & & sold all of them in 2 hours @ $200 per K. The shop set the $125 buy price. I hope we won't look back & say $200 for 1K primers or $1300 for 1K .223 was cheap...

  44. I don't have the patience to read this whole thread but I feel confident people are being scared by hyperbole and misinformation. I can understand why we don't trust the government on the surface as its failed us too many times but I don't think we should apply that skepticism to the point of folly. We you say "we don't know the long term ramification of this vaccine" you haven't researched it very much. This is not new technology, its acutally over 30 years old. They've been researching this vaccine mechanism for a very long time. "So why haven't we had this type of vaccine before now?", because thankfully we haven't had a widespread pandemic significant enought to warrant the human trials. Ebola, Zika, West Nile are all candidates but infections were not enough to be able to study the results (thank God, aint nobody want Ebola). The biggest concern with the vaccine is allergic response. Yes you will feel bad the day after, especially the second shot, but no you did not actually get COVID-19 from the shot. Its just your bodies immune system creating the defenses it needs to make you resistant in the future. The vaccine made it to production so quickly thanks to the 30+years of research before hand, without that it would likely not have happened. I can put my tinfoil hat on a empathize with those that are skeptical about the viruses origin and certainly how the government has leveraged us for its own gain to the determent of thousands of small businesses and personal finances across the country. But none of that leads me to a point where I don't want a vaccine. Obviously because I took one and get my second shot next Thursday and anxiously wait the opportunity to be "immuno-prepared" (i know that's not a word) for getting back to normal.

  46. I’m a fan of the gun! Their customer service failed. at twenty one feet I can shoot a roofing nail one out of four shots at damn near rapid fire pace. The pistol is smooth and very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot... my only disappointment in the pistol it’self is not a higher capacity double stack.

  47. No. They do provide a lot of emails explaining their Legal and legislative actions. There is a prominent link in each email to donate to the legal fund. So instead of the NRA tactic of “look! It’s bad people, give us money so we can do stuff!“ They are going the route of “here is what we are doing. If you would like to further support us, go here.“ It’s a small, but very significant difference to me.

  48. I belong to both. Despite its current problems, the NRA does have clout. They also have some serious internal problems that have gone on for years. King Wayne long ago got much to into playing politics and became our own worst enemy. Honestly, I hope he ends up in jail. Hopefully, the NRA will come through these troubles better for the experience and regain its glory. Omega is right about GOA. These guys are bare knuckle fighters and don't back down or compromise. If GOA was as big as the NRA, we wouldn't have to fight for our rights. Maybe the NRA's current problems will help GOA grow. I strongly recommend them.
