  1. Great topic! Hope we can continue the discussion apolitically? One of the greatest threats our nation faces right now is the bias in the media, and the stupidity of the average person. Its not just the "news" its the entire suite of programming... and thats exactly what its designed to do, IMHO. I have found it exceedingly difficult to find un-biased news. I currently spend time on as many places on the web I can find, and try to sift through it all to find the actual truth. Its not easy, but comes with practice. The old saw from Soviet days is particularly useful... if you're not allowed to talk about it, you know thats the truth. If they deny its very existence, its totally real. If they over-react and declare something anathema, its what they fear. Orwell and Huxley will be banned soon, but should be required reading to participate in this conversation. Make no bones about it, thats whats coming. God help us all.

  2. Now I ask, What good does it do to even watch the news? Most of it is reported with a slight tilt. Do you have thoughts of doing something about it? I watch very little news as of late. Consider it a waste of time for me. Just my HO.

  3. I bought this at a gun show a few years back. It came with a set of stag grips. I finally located original style grips for it. This was no easy feat. In case anyone isn't familiar, this is a Smith and Wesson Heavy Frame Target Model, also referred to as a Bekeart Model. I'm not sure the year of manufacture, but it is roughly 100 years old, and chambered for 22 Long Rifle. I've always wanted one of these, but never thought i'd actually have one.

  4. You know what they say about judging a book... I know a couple of TGO members that have Tesla’s and others that wear jeans like that. It seems to me to be more a age and profession indicator than conservative/liberal. That’s my opinion and you know what they say about opinions...

  5. Wanted to provide an update. Not on @willis68 but rather on the blade itself. It is already showing signs of how soft the steel is and I've not abused it. As I mentioned, the overall construction for the $75.00 price point is a good value and my perception of long life. It is now obvious to me what the extra $$ buys, quality of steel and the process used for the blade to hold an edge. "You spent $150 - $300 on your new pocket knife?" "Yep."

  9. I picked this one up right before Christmas and it quickly became my EDC. The action was really stiff to begin with, but loosening the pivot screw slightly and then a little use allowed it to loosen up nicely. It now flicks open smartly with just the nudge of the thumb. I put a 50 degree-inclusive (25* per side) edge on it and took it out to a mirror finish with my KME sharpener. That Bohler M390 steel is just fantastic. It's held the edge incredibly well and has even retained most of the mirror polish I put on it, despite regular use cutting apart boxes and slicing open packing materials. It'll still shave the hair off of my arm without any difficulty. The natural canvas Micarta scales are an interesting touch in the sense that they pick up the oils from your hands and slowly gain a "patina" because of it. But, wipe them down with a bit of non-chlorinated brake cleaner and they go right back to their natural appearance and you start all over again. The revised Titanium frame lock on this new Decade model addresses the weak lock the HEST had in its initial production 10-years ago. If you have stayed away from them because of that, I wouldn't worry anymore. I've tested it by firmly grasping it from the sides only, hand and fingers clear of the path of the blade, and pushed hard against the spine of the blade and against the lock, and it didn't budge a bit. I'd have had to use additional mechanical leverage to push any harder, and that would have been well beyond the force I could exert on it otherwise. I suspect it would hold up until the scale ruptured.

  10. It was finally time to get a second sharpening on my CRKT M16-14T Last time was 10 years ago at an RK Show. Decided to give @willis68 a try, others have reported quality work. This blade needed it, trust me. Contacted through PM, was given turn time (extended in my case, Mr. 68 was heading off shore) Completed within promised window and contacted via email. During this exchange, I asked about the quality of this particular steel; not great and and substandard bevel on factory edge, especially at the serrations. In my case, it was a gift and I have sentimental attachment. It's sharp, I wish I had thought of before and after pics. When I am ready to upgrade, @willis68 will be my first stop to shop and buy. Thanks for the great quality of service!

  12. If the vendor is a ‘personal collection/cash only’ type of seller, then the cash-only sale is perfectly legal. The people from Williamson county may have dressed differently than you, but how did you come to the conclusion that they are liberals?

  14. Arrived Saturday morning at around 8:20. Line was around the building. Sat there for an hour, line got longer. Left. Came back at 8:30 Sunday, parked and was about 50th in line. Ammo prices were for the rich or uninformed. Found a couple of Ruger 10-22's that I was interested in. I really liked the one till I looked closer at the tag, $1100. Next one had about the same upgrades but $650. the others were stock ranging from $400 to $500. Went back to find the one for $650 and it was gone. Oh well. Found a couple of mags for brothers S&W, another mag for the UZI, Sight Mark reflex sight, ultra light bipod and 12 gauge buck shot at $2 a round. One guy asking $25 for 5 rounds . Went looking for 6.5 bullets for reloading but not a one. got crowded around 11 am. Prices seemed to be anywhere from 20% to 50% above what I was able to order online 6 months ago. Primers from $100 to $130 a thousand. Still have some money in my pocket, lol. I drive a pickup truck

  17. What you have is your basic Colt "D" frame revolver. The Cobra is a lightweight, alloy framed version of the classic Detective Special. Your's appears to be a 1st Issue revolver made between 1950-72. We would need the serial number to find the exact year of manufacture. The .32 Colt New Police cartridge is the exact same round as the .32 S&W Long. The only difference being that Colt loaded it with a flat point bullet where S&W used a round nose. You can shoot .32 S&W Long ammo in that no problem. The Colt "D" frames have always been popular and the lightweights even more so. However, the .32 caliber will detract a bit from its value. Those grips don't help much either. I'd guess that to be about a $500-550 gun. Edit: Just saw where you added a pic with the serial #. Your gun was made in 1966. Further research indicates a factory original nickle finish.

  18. I was a teenager in the 1960s and a young soldier in a drug infested Army from 72-75. Believe it or not, I went through all that and never once have used any form of recreational pharmaceuticals, including marijuana. Nope, I was a drunk instead. I've got nothing against anybody who has an occasional toke now and then. And I fully understand the benefits of medical marijuana. But I never have understood the whole CBD thing. Ok, so its marijuana but you took the good stuff out? What's the point in that? Nothing but snake oil to me. I won't waste money on it. And yeah, the stuff is everywhere.

  20. Maybe. I'd wager social media and the two party system will be our downfall. Everyone who is sure their "team" is right. It won't be just one party that does us in. This website is as fair as anything I've seen. https://www.newsnationnow.com/

  26. "The National Desk" has been on a couple of weeks now and it seems to be balanced and just reports the news not give analysis and opinion about the news, hope it stays that way. Locally it is on a Fox station for 2 hours in the morning but the second hour is pretty much a repeat of the first so I switch over to the Today Show if I'm still nursing my coffee, to see the left leaning side while I read One America News on the computer to see the right side. I recommended it to some friends up North and it is on the CW iup there for 3 hours in the morning. It is from Sinclair Broadcasting Group.

  30. I have a friend that grows hemp then does the extraction into CBD. He and I have had some discussions on the topic. The market is saturated. I also think most of the claims made about CBD are largely exaggerated. I'm guessing people tried it in the beginning and eventually realized it wasn't really doing much to help them. My friend has a theory that the folks that love CBD must be highly sensitive to the tiny amounts of THC in it, and that's the real reason they like it.

  39. I have the LASR X system and love it. They send out drill training emails which have really pushed me in developing control and muscle memory. I purchased the SIRT Pro Pistol Glock version with removable magazine. It gives the feel of a fully loaded Glock. I have been amazed with how it has helped when I do live fire. Did some training with @Cool hand Lukeand he talked about how he did dry fire training before matches. I highly recommend it. The money saved on ammo has more than paid for the cost of the system.

  40. I guess I made a mistake selling a little over 3k rounds to a forum member for .06 a round last week and today. (Not a mistake) I had extra and they wanted to shoot their .22s. I just can’t bring myself to sell my extra on gunbroker for stupid prices.

  42. If I have something to sell I'm going to sell at market value, or possibly below if I'm just looking to get something out of the way. I don't recall ever selling any ammo, but if I were to sell ammo today I would price it based on it's market value, just like anything else. What I will not do is find ammo in stock, buy it out and sell it at a profit. Though during the last ammo shortage I was known to buy it up and resell to family, friends, and even some TGOers at the price I paid. Anything to keep it out of the scalper's hands.

  43. My pair of Lovelies , well, the AR is 5.56 so maybe not a sub. But non the less ..... A sub should have a hunger like no other...... By the way, the 120 rd AR drum was a china import in early 90's. Absolutely the best Mil spec drum with harden shell & parts. It will satisfy any cycle rate of fire. Last time I saw one on GB many years ago, it sold well over $300. I used to sell them for $120. God knows what they sell for these days.
