A buddy from my Army days runs a gunsmithing shop in Central Texas and did his magic on my late Grandfather's ole Colt he use to slip in his pocket coon hunting. I think it turned out great.

We all know what's coming from Washington. Many Counties in TN have already passed 2A Sanctuary resolutions. However, I'd like to get a movement going to have the entire state of Tennessee declared a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary. I think that with a little nudging from the citizens that this could be done. It won't stop the feds, but it will send a message that we want no part of their BS. I sent e-mails to my State Senator and Representative today. I strongly urge everyone here to do so and encourage all your friends to join in too. The time to speak up is now.

If we're within $1000, I call it good. They're not holding too much of my money and anything I have to pay, that money is in my control. Regarding new and shifting tax brackets; 3 year ago, our gross income increased about $4000, our tax burden increased about $3600 YoY. Not much incentive to make that extra money...but hey, we rich folks are fortunate and greedy.

110 pieces of 6.5 Creedmoor brass, one fired thru gas guns. Some case openings have deflector flat spots. Minimal to no ejector swipes. 200 to 300 pieces of 556 / 223 brass, once fired. Sorry never counted, they barely fit in a quart ziploc from a couple range sessions when I thought I would start reloading.

There is comfort to be found there, even in a tragic situation, if you are open to it. Get a Bible and read 2nd Samuel chapter 12. Pay close attention to what David said in verse 23 of chapter 12(I shall go to him). Also you can see how a father can overcome tragedy. Drinking is not the answer. Said a prayer for you all this morning. Praying you all may find peace with your situation. One who puts his trust in God can/will find peace with death. I still think the gun deal is a red herring

Sad story. You can do gun deals arranged online, but you need to exercise some selectivity (buyers from TGO are generally a trustworthy group). Don't do deals at night, and meet in a public place like a gun store parking lot or a police dept parking lot (several depts maintain places for Craig's List transactions and whatnot). I'm sorry for this guy and his family.

I too have suspicions, but I will reserve them. The victim here was a 22yo kid. He very well could have been naive enough through youth and inexperience to place himself in such a bad situation. I know I ended up in a lot of sketch situations at that age. Time will tell what the truth really is here.

The proper approach to this question and others like it isn’t “what can I do?” It should always be “what must I do?” Whether in your home or elsewhere. So the question isn’t “can I shoot this person,” the question is “must I shoot this person to defend my life, or the lives of others from imminent harm.” If that’s your operating position, I think the odds of you actually being in a position to shoot anybody are pretty damn low, and facing legal trouble over the shoot well below that.

Bartering seems a good way to go to get ammo, trade one caliber for another. I'm good on everything right now except some 6.5 CM, but it is not a "need" for me. One thing I found rather strange..well, thinking about it not so much, but anyway, the rolls of caps for the toy guns have become unobtainium lately, most are either gone (OOS) or priced much higher. For those that may ask, they can be used to make your own primers. I expect a run on strike anywhere matches coming too, it is good to be prepared.

I can usually get a couple hundred thousand miles per set of tires. That said, a set of tires runs me over $6k.

Same. I had a set of 60-70K Michelin tires that only lasted 40K. I filed a warranty claim with Michelin and got a prorated replacement set. Now these are dry rotted after 3 years. Even the tire salesman said he's having to constantly file claims for Michelin. I'll never buy another set of their tires again.

You realize that tires may seem expensive, but figure cost per mile and it is pretty cheap. If you get 40,000 miles on a set of $800 tires that is $0.02 per mile, just about what 1 primer used to cost. LOL

Just my $0.02, sounds like you have spent a LOT of time trying to find the screw, what could you have done with this spent time working on other things. My time is very valuable to me and my family, stop spending time trying to save a few dollars when you can spend the time with your family. After all you have found the screw.

Sad story, but it can happen with any type of on-line FTF transaction. Many people have been robbed or killed when trying to purchase stuff off Craig's List or similar sites. On-line car deals are especially hot due to large amounts of cash. Food delivery drivers are common victims. Go armed, with another person if possible, daytime and highly visible public place. Stay very alert and if anything at all just feels wrong, no deal and get out quick.

Well said Hozzie. If doing just a barrel swap, consider Feddersen barrels. Brimstone reworks trigger groups for $50 or so, stock selection is good.

So I am head deep into 22's and every detail around them for precision and accuracy purposes so take my view with that in mind. I would ask what do you want to do with it? In general, the 10/22 platform is inherently less capable of accuracy than a comparable bolt gun. That doesn't mean they can't be accurate but when it comes down to the little details, those details do make a difference if the utmost accuracy is desired. If you just want a really nice high end 10/22 they are very nice rifles. I would say them and Kidd are interchangeable. If you just want a high end, very accurate 22 without going full blown custom, I would look at something like a Bergara B14-R. They are more used for NRL and PRS types of competitions but are also excellent all around rifles. What's nice about them is they use standard Remington 700 SA stocks so the options are basically limitless. You can use a traditional type of stock or go with a chassis of some sort. I guess I say all of this to say if you would be buying it for the idea that they are supposed to be very accurate, I would say be fully informed. They are, but they will always give up a little vs a bolt gun. Of course any one example of either can potentially outdue the other on a case by case basis. If you like the platform and that is the direction you want to go you will be hard pressed to find a better 10/22 variant outside of a custom 10/22 based BR gun.

You'll have to activate the phone with PagePlus (this is pretty much true with any carrier where you roll your own phones). Most of the time this involves using their online activation, which generally is pretty simple, mostly consisting of typing in a bit of information or clicking on some buttons. Usually, to port (transfer) your existing number over, you'll need your ESN or MEID number, this is like a unique serial number which identifies your phone. This can be found on the phone, on an Android it's under "settings", typically on a page called "about phone" or something like that. It's not a complicated process, you can always find somebody to help out as most folks have been through the process before with their own phones ...

You’ll have to buy a phone that’s compatible with whatever network they’re riding on. As such, it’s probably worth buying from their vendor. Was the Kyocera an old flip phone? If it was, it might be worth checking Amazon or EBay to see if you could just purchase the samE model.

I think Chuck and Chip and A.J. and a few others have done a good job covering the answer but I want to touch on the above question. We don't pull our guns to threaten people. We pull our guns to stop the threat. If the threat ends at the draw or appearance of a firearm, it was a good day. If it takes being on target but the trigger never gets pulled, again, still a good day. But if it takes an empty mag plus a few more rounds, that's the amount of force we must use. Our goal should NEVER be to threaten anyone. Our primary goal is always the same. We use the actions and force necessary to STOP THE THREAT!

That’s kind of what I was getting at. Of course, at the time the robber probably doesn’t know you are a law abiding citizen, all the knows it somebody is pointing a gun at him and may shoot. That’s really they only thing that is keeping him from running off. Just seems like a lot of things could go wrong. Probably your best bet is to pull your firearm, the robber backs down where you are no longer in fear for your life, and you just tell him to get out of there. I’ll admit, I’d probably have a hard time doing that, but I’ll also admit I have problems doing what is best sometimes, especially right after I thought somebody was trying to do me harm. It’s really easy to talk about what you should do on a Internet forum, and we should know what to do and try our best to follow those rules. It all gets fuzzy though when things are happening fast, and you get into that “fight or flight” mode. Sometimes we start fighting when we should be flighting.

Some folks might be better off not thinking or opining on the dozens of ways such a situation could go.
