Well after waiting for 14 days for FedEx (sat for 10 days in California) to finally deliver my new pistol it is finally here. Waiting for my background check to go thru at Clarksville Guns & Archery.....if you've never been you should visit. Nice guys and a new indoor range. New (old stock) Sig Sauer P227.....sleeping since 2019 in a gun shop in Hawaii....now it's mine! Time to take off the production tape ring and oil/grease it up for the first time..... Ready to go but lets take a picture with his older brother........ Sig Sauer P229 in .40/357Sig and my new P227 in .45 ACP..... I fired 10 rounds to get used to the trigger and snap of the 45.....then fired 10 rounds at an 8" circle at 21 feet...it is a shooter....I will get better with practice...I am so glad I picked one up before they were are all gone!

I renewed my fishing license last week, and qualified for the "old fart" lifetime license, so I'm set going forward. Now if the wind will lay down. Tried to go yesterday, and just ended up towing the boat for about 30 miles, white caps at the ramp, so I came home.

Johnson's are a neat rifle. They just didn't catch on. Winfield got a hold of mine years ago before I got it.

Varget and Reloader 15 are gonna be real close, maybe identical on the chrony. I just loaded the three powders into quickload and they were virtually the same peak pressure and muzzle velocity. Might be worth a try

Keep an eye at Bass Pro, they were selling them without markup. I got both of mine there. You’ll love it. I’ve got an Apex PPQ and Walther figured out a lot of tricks working with them. They don’t come in 5”, but 4.5 for the longer version. I’d offer you my full size, but I got the 4” version

I had left my number with the local feed mill on Wednesday. He said he'd find me some within a week. Yesterday I got a call from a friend of mine. Turns out he and his lady have several different breeds, and they are just up the road from me. I'll be going over there next Thursday and getting an education. Might come away with some birds too.

I personally think the Walther's are some of the best looking polyguns out there. Online. Its early in a gun rush, so they are hard to find and prices vary from $589 to over $800.

Made it to the range today and it is a pleasure to shoot. Very consistent and grouped tight.

Gun guru Jim Cirillo had a system he called silhouette point shooting. Here the gun was raised to eye level, pointed at the target. But you didn't use sights. Instead you focused on looking squarely at the back of the gun. The sides, bottom or top should not be visible. What this does is make sure that you are square with the target and the gun was square with you. Or simply put, the gun was pointed where you were looking. The man survived over a dozen gun fights. I tend to listen to his advice.

TGO has unfortunately, from time to time, been visited by those who lack morals and ethics and would like to take advantage of the good graces and trusting nature of our fine members. This activity almost always seems to increase when social conditions are turbulent, especially if the turbulence is centered around the ability to find and buy guns or ammo. Lately we have had to boot a few people who were exhibiting suspicious behavior. We want you to be aware of this fact and to be sure to check a person's status on TGO before you commit to doing business with them as either the seller or the buyer. This is especially true if the other person encourages you to take communication with them "off the forum" and to email or some sort of instant messaging service. Before you buy or sell: Look to see whether they have have an active account or if they've been banned since you started talking to them. If you are going to meet to conduct business, do it during daylight hours and in a heavily trafficked, very public, neutral meeting place. Don't invite people to your home. Don't agree to meet people at theirs. MOST police and sheriff's stations have space at their parking lot where you can meet for selling and buying with strangers. Other good places are parking lots of busy business and in sight of their security cameras. Trust your gut instincts whether just when communicating online or meeting in person. If something feels "off" or "weird" - trust your gut. Feel free to involve me, @MacGyver, @Chucktshoes or one of the other moderators in a private conversation with the other party, or just contact us off to the side if you have concerns. Some of the suspicious activity that we've seen includes: People answering a Want To Buy ad claiming to have what you want, or that they know a friend or family member who does, and offering to broker an exchange between you and them. When it is fraudulent, this sort of thing often quickly becomes ridiculously complex and harder than it should be to do a simple transaction. Your warning senses should start tingling. We insist that people never list an item for sale for a friend on TGO for a reason. First Person is simpler, easier and often safer. People asking if you will ship a gun to them out of state or if you require proof of residency. Shipping a gun out of state always requires that you send it to an FFL in that state. An in-person buyer has to be a resident of your state. Again, heed your warning senses. People asking you to send money to them via PayPal "Friends and Family". Remember, first of all PayPal doesn't allow you to pay for guns and certain other things with their service. If you do and you get hosed on a deal, you may have no protection with PayPal. Second, sending money via Friends and Family saves the recipient a measly 3% charge but it also means you get zero protection via PayPal if the other person hoses you. Strangers insisting that they meet you after dark, or at a remote location, or at your house or theirs. This is a big NO. Don't do this. People asking if they can send a friend to pick up a gun from you instead of meeting you themselves. This is also a big NO. It can quickly become an illegal "straw purchase". Again, trust your gut instincts. You have them for a reason. It's safer to heed them and risk offending a person than it is to ignore them and end up the victim of a scam or worse. I had an experience with a 22 mag rifle on a dog pack that were killing our calves, several years ago. I shot a Red Bone hound(110 lbs) and the 22 MAG gutted him. The R B was charging me, in the field, and I shot, aiming for his head, however as he ran his head was bobbing, and I hit him in the middle of his chest. It blew his insides out his butt, and he looked like a stovepipe after being shot. Don't mean to be insensitive, but that pack of dogs cost us thousands that year until we thinned them out. There were 7 "city" dogs, (Rented farm was in the city limits), in the pack. We eliminated 5 of them, German Shephard, Doberman, and Red Bone hound, along with 2 smaller house dogs. Never had another calf maimed or killed after that incident. This was back in the early 80's. A calf with its ears or tailed maimed would sell for half what a normal calf would bring plus they outright killed 12 calves. The 22 mag rifle really surprised me how much power it has over a regular 22 LR. I diffidently encourage the 22 mag for your job, but don't know how effective it will be out of a shorter brl revolver. Sure worked great, out of a rifle, for me. I believe that hound would have attacked me, judging from the way he was charging me in that open field. Was glad I dropped him about 30 yards in front of me. The property owner and my father in law was on the opposite side of the pack from me.

In state con carry has no reciprocity. As an example, Vermont, the original Con Carry state, has no permitting system. Citizens of Vermont have to acquire non-resident permits from other states to allow them to carry outside of Vermont. So while I absolutely desire a true Constitutional Carry bill to pass, I will keep my permit as I do require the ability to carry outside of TN.

I guess third time's a charm. I ordered the 500/590 Streamlight version and it fits perfect. The light is blindingly bright. I still don't understand why the Shockwave version wouldn't work on mine even though it is a Shockwave with an 18.5" barrel. I ditched the birdhead grip for a Hogue stock and replaced the bead with an XS big dot sight. I should've just got a 590 and been done with it.

Not necessarily. It makes it well known to the feds that we are in an area that does NOT approve or want gun control. That makes us a hard target instead of an easy one. Look, I came from California, home of MILLIONS of illegal aliens living off the government tit. Totally flaunts fed law and the feds did nothing about it. The times the feds raided tuna factories and almond fields they got the cold shoulder and zero help from the local LEO agencies. The state filed lawsuits against the feds and tied it up in court. Also look at the pot thing. Totally illegal by fed law, but CA (and other states) allow it to flourish and the feds do nothing about it. I'm not saying that local LEO's would physically be able to stop the feds from doing whatever, but the feds don't have the resources to go door to door and prosecute everyone with an AR or an ammo can full of P-mags. If Tennessee refuses to prosecute, then who will?

I'd feel better about it if this actually meant anything.

You guys that are newer to shotguns you can’t beat old wing masters imho

My idea of a survival gun is surely something belt fed. I do, however have a good example of a more traditional idea of a survival gun. It is an H&R 058 Topper youth model with two barrels. One is 30-30 Winchester, and the other is 20 gauge with modified choke. My father bought his for me new when I was 10 years old. He paid $100 for it at D&D Ace Hardware in Lafayette. Although it has seen a lot of use, it is still in good condition. I still have the box, paperwork, and receipt. I should dig it out of the back of the safe and make some pictures sometime. It is responsible for the demise of untold numbers of deer, coyote, turtles, snakes, dove, quail, rabbit, and squirrel. Probably not worth a lot to a collector, but it holds many fond memories for me. It will keep a man fed if he does his part.

New in box from old stock as they have been out of production since 2019. Will join the family of P229's in 9mm, and 40 S&W/357SIG....now the wait begins as it is coming thru FedEx out of Las Vegas and they are backed way up with the winter storm from last week thru their Memphis hub. Will post some pick when I finally receive it...... Now to find some 10 round magazines.....have read that the 14 rounders are a bit less than reliable and I don't need it to stick out below the mag well like that....
