People all over the world and on this board have been arguing back and forth about this virus for over a year now. Both sides have valid points, but are also just rehashing the same things over and over again. I. too, believe that there is some sort of conspiracy involved, perhaps many. But I still don't know what, why or who might be involved. Odds are that none of us will ever know for sure. I see no point in continuing to beat this poor, dead horse. The one thing that I do know is that on the advice of several of my personal doctors, whom I trust and have managed to keep my sorry butt alive much longer than I should have, I was a good puppy and got my shots. I will keep wearing a mask and I will keep social distancing. I truly believe we have a very long way to go yet. What you do or believe is entirely up to you.

Saying that this virus doesn’t kill because you survived it is like saying bullets do not kill because you got shot and lived.

If the hipster would learn how to serve a proper plate of grub that actually fills one up, they wouldn’t need to ruin it for all the country folks that like to eat animal parts.

Thanks to a tip from a buddy on the Henry rifle forum, I scored 4 lbs. IMR4198 on Hogdons' site. They sell direct to the public when they have some. I wasn't aware of this til yesterday. No idea what's there now, but might want to check it out & keep a watchful eye later. You an also sign up for email notifications.

Well. That title covers a lot of territory doesn't it? Had 2 scheduled checkups and blood draws today. My GP and my Oncologist. I talked with both about the Covid Vaccines and my feelings and health issues relating to whether or not to take it. Interesting conversations from both. Especially the gentleman who actually drew the blood. We covered about everything from the source, the intent, and the possible outcomes of this pandemic. Even got into some of the religion side...Revelation and Mark of the Beast territory. But the core of all this is that my Oncologist's comments were this..."Do it. Do it Now!" You are at major risk. Walking time bomb. Just waiting to be infected. Really said that. Well, it seemed that TnOncology was vaccinating all their patients. And since I was in one office, a call was made and I was quite literally immediately shoved out the door and sent to the one where there were some shots still available. So...in spite of my comments here previously; I received the 1st dose of the Moderna Vaccine today. I do feel rather much a hypocrite right now. But it's done. We shall see what happens.

Well...I really didn't expect the reactions from so many when I started my little comment. Guess I wasn't thinking to well. I've watched and read all these comments and as ReeferMac says, I believe only time will tell who, if any, of us is right or wrong. I've talked to friends, family, neighbors, and some of us here about my decision and the opinions of each. Those opinions are just as varied as we have here. Can't say that my own perception of the vaccines have really changed in the last 2 weeks. In retrospect, had I not held such a high opinion of my Oncologist; I believe I would not have taken the vaccine. But that cannot be undone. So whatever my personal outcome, it's in God's Hands. But, it surely cannot be mass hysteria that so many around this nation and the world still question the virus and it's origins, it's effects and lethality, the vaccines, and the possible motives behind it all. I was a "sheeple" for many years, most of my life in fact. Never questioned anything. Took what was said and handed to me at face value. It must be true and good for me. The TV and government said so. I lived...no...existed. Watching the world and my life go by. What changed my and my outlook is personal and not open for discussion at this time. What is important is that I did begin to look around. To see the world beyond my 2 foot personal space. To think. To question people, government. Ask why we are so obsessed with things. Why do we accept because a "leader" tells us it is so, right, and true. When did we start believing the comments of a "celebrity" was always the truth and more important than mine? I opened my eyes. For the first time I think. Not that I'm a great and wise man. Far from it. But I'm looking, questioning, and hopefully learning now. So back to the Covid-19, and now it's variants. Was this a man-made virus? I say absolutely Yes to that. I don't believe that it came from a fruit market where bats, rats, or whatever lived. It came from the WuHan Lab. Far too many established medical professionals attest to this. Even the former Director of the CDC says it is. My lay opinion has not changed one whit on that. When first brought to national attention, "News" readers told us that it did come from the Wuhan labs and that a, or multiple technicians had been affected and had been the cause of the infection's spreading. That was squelched about two days in and all references and video removed. I KNOW I saw and heard it, as I'm sure many others did as well. Whether this was an accidental release, or...as I, in my tinfoil hat theories contend; it was a test release at the least. Just to determine our, the US's and the world's reactions and capabilities to respond to a viral release/attack. Agree with me or not, this virus has changed our lives, our country, and our world for the worse. Jobs lost. Businesses closed, many forever. Lives of families changed. Schools and universities closed. Social interactions curtailed. Dependence on government "Help, even Rescue" pushed to an extent we would not have thought possible. Living online almost 24/7. Damage to the nuclear family, which was already hanging by a thread, pushed further along towards complete loss. Many(more) accepting a government dole rather than working. Well you should be able to see it as well. Agree or not, it's your choice. But I think it is clearly a plan that at best is allowing the inmates to run the asylum; and at worst, a plan to fully control our lives. We have seen and talked of the "cradle to grave" government over the past few decades. I think I's here now. Just a few short steps away from fruition for our controllers. Whether you believe those in control to be some Uber-rich, Elitist New World Order, a military cabal, or just the Illuminiti coming to power at long last; Change has come. And it is here to stay.

If in any doubt do what your gut tells you to do. If you get a weird feeling then tell them you'll pass. If you still want to buy or sell the gun then tell them to meet you at the police department where it's on video for both you guys safety. That will weed out most bad ones.

Its Memphis. Nothing those idiots do surprises me one bit. I doubt there are two active brain cells in the entire city council.

This is the same council, albeit different members, that claimed there would be blood in the streets if people were allowed to carry into resturaunts/bars.

Proving once again that fear isn't rational. The council fears guns and thinks if they are banned, they are magically safe. What they fail to realize (acknowledge?) is that guns are already being carried & used by those they should fear (criminals). But honest people are currently at the mercy of those that already flaunt the law. Permitless carry (aka, Constitutional Carry) merely levels the playing field & violent crime will go DOWN as a result. Chicago politicians have followed the same thinking as the Memphis City Council for many years. Same outcome (300+ murders per year.) What is that definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over & over again, but expecting a different result. The governor is on the right path. Thankfully the Memphis council can't over-rule state law.

True, and women more than that. LOL Seriously tho, nothing wrong with changing your mind, there's often a better idea to be had. I've had both Moderna vaccines at the VA. No issues. I don't buy the idea that Pfizer is any better than Moderna. Haven't heard any official word on that.

I’ll take that as an affirmation from someone with firsthand experience that I’m on the right path leaning towards the Glock. I just don’t care for the long slide of the G40 though. I do find it odd that they make the G40, the 10mm with the longest sight radius, in a MOS version but not the shorter 10mm slides. It leaves me scratching my head.

Long term? I've still got my Daddy's Remington 11-48 that he bought used back in the early 1950s. He used it quite a bit and it was my hunting shotgun for many years until I finally quit hunting. I still shoot it now and then and it works just fine. Most any quality shotgun will outlast your lifetime will decent care. If I were you, I'd wait until a good Remington or Mossberg is available.

Ex-snipers get "re-snipered" regularly. You can pick up a refurbed PU scope, or one of the reproduction scopes and mounts that were made in Eastern Europe or Ukraine a few years ago. A good gunsmith can drill and tap for the base. BTW, although original scopes are readily available, mounts and bases tend to be rarer, and pricey when you find an original Russian example. As such, if you pay to have a competent gunsmith to "re-sniper" one, and buy original parts, you typically wind up with a gun that costs you as much or more than what the original snipers go for ...

I'm a big fan of the patagonia lightweight shorts. Maybe not as durable as some of the duluth options others have called out, but the breathability is worth it to not fight swamp a$$ all summer.

Sounds like one of the many people who think they can justify their paycheck simply with their physical presence in a building. Personally I have a low opinion of VP's in general. In my experience they are mostly good for taking credit for the work done by the directors, senior managers, managers, and engineers below them while having none of the responsibility and potential blowback of the President/CEO/Owner above them. If I am not physically operating a piece of equipment or physically inspecting a machine/part/component I can do my job from anywhere with an internet connection. I don't need a desk in a plant to look at a CAD model, drawing, or pile of data.

I find the Wrangler carpenter style shorts (& pants) very comfy, and wear well. I prefer my clothes on the loose side so I'm not all bound up when sitting, etc., or mowing the yard, yada yada yada.

I don't think there are many Republican politicians that are REALLY die hard about gun rights. They certainly aren't freedom loving in general. It isn't surprising to me that we haven't been able to make this happen yet.

I agree with others on here. Its hard for me to understand how we can have a conservative gov and legislature yet not pass all the good gun bills. We should have a real constitutional carry bill as well as removing restricted on locations to carry.

Welcome to the new members. I just passed my 7th year here on TGO and I stay around for a lot reasons...all of them being examples of this just being a great place to hang out on the internet. I'm all for new folks joining the site; especially if they're paying for the privilege as a benefactor. And while I'm not much of a buy/sell type through here compared to some, I'm also a-okay being someone's first transaction partner. If they're minding their Ps and Qs as they get the lay of the place, not trying to make themselves out to be the best new member in the history of ever, and don't have anything giving me reservation...no issues doing business if it suits us both.

I don't buy or sell with anyone who has no reputation points, and I'm confident others here take the same precaution. I think it's fine for new folks to get involved in the classifieds if they pay to become benefactors, but I just feel better dealing with someone who's been around a little while. Cheers, Whisper

Why not just go with a 870? Plenty of them have screw-in chokes. The other option is a Mossberg 500 variant. Also has plenty of screw-in chokes. Both have vast aftermarket support in parts, accesories, stocks, and also a plethora of choke tubes to pick from. You can accesorize to go from ducks, to turkeys, to deer, to tactical all with the same reciever. It's just a matter of swapping out bits.

Close. It's an upgrade to a semi automated system that requires less human interaction. It does require one specific job that I'm qualified for. If there is an incident, it will get the same news coverage as an airplane crash. We also have a habit of fast cars, fast bikes, and loose woman. Depending on the job you're in, you could be living in two different places a few hundred miles away from each other. Guys do crazy things. My drugs of choice are guns and fast cars.

Third option. From someone who’s been somewhere pretty close to where you sit - figure out a path to transition to something outside of the company while you still have options. It’s not worth the toll it takes on your soul.

This reminded me of an article I read several years ago in Backwoods Home magazine. Great magazine imho. The article was written by Charles Wood. He buried a Ruger Ranch Rifle and several thousand rounds of .223 ammo (and related gear) and retrieved them after 15 years. TGO has unfortunately, from time to time, been visited by those who lack morals and ethics and would like to take advantage of the good graces and trusting nature of our fine members. This activity almost always seems to increase when social conditions are turbulent, especially if the turbulence is centered around the ability to find and buy guns or ammo. Lately we have had to boot a few people who were exhibiting suspicious behavior. We want you to be aware of this fact and to be sure to check a person's status on TGO before you commit to doing business with them as either the seller or the buyer. This is especially true if the other person encourages you to take communication with them "off the forum" and to email or some sort of instant messaging service. Before you buy or sell: Look to see whether they have have an active account or if they've been banned since you started talking to them. If you are going to meet to conduct business, do it during daylight hours and in a heavily trafficked, very public, neutral meeting place. Don't invite people to your home. Don't agree to meet people at theirs. MOST police and sheriff's stations have space at their parking lot where you can meet for selling and buying with strangers. Other good places are parking lots of busy business and in sight of their security cameras. Trust your gut instincts whether just when communicating online or meeting in person. If something feels "off" or "weird" - trust your gut. Feel free to involve me, @MacGyver, @Chucktshoes or one of the other moderators in a private conversation with the other party, or just contact us off to the side if you have concerns. Some of the suspicious activity that we've seen includes: People answering a Want To Buy ad claiming to have what you want, or that they know a friend or family member who does, and offering to broker an exchange between you and them. When it is fraudulent, this sort of thing often quickly becomes ridiculously complex and harder than it should be to do a simple transaction. Your warning senses should start tingling. We insist that people never list an item for sale for a friend on TGO for a reason. First Person is simpler, easier and often safer. People asking if you will ship a gun to them out of state or if you require proof of residency. Shipping a gun out of state always requires that you send it to an FFL in that state. An in-person buyer has to be a resident of your state. Again, heed your warning senses. People asking you to send money to them via PayPal "Friends and Family". Remember, first of all PayPal doesn't allow you to pay for guns and certain other things with their service. If you do and you get hosed on a deal, you may have no protection with PayPal. Second, sending money via Friends and Family saves the recipient a measly 3% charge but it also means you get zero protection via PayPal if the other person hoses you. Strangers insisting that they meet you after dark, or at a remote location, or at your house or theirs. This is a big NO. Don't do this. People asking if they can send a friend to pick up a gun from you instead of meeting you themselves. This is also a big NO. It can quickly become an illegal "straw purchase". Again, trust your gut instincts. You have them for a reason. It's safer to heed them and risk offending a person than it is to ignore them and end up the victim of a scam or worse.
