  2. Does nothing for me. Had my permit since you could get them and i have no intentions of letting it expire. Keep in mind CC in TN doesn't carry reciprocity to another state so if you travel and want to carry you'll need a permit. At least that's how I understand it.

  3. Sold This one comes with a bit of a story, so bear with me. I've always liked the look of unfluted revolver cylinders and thought it would be fun someday to have a Colt SAA with an unfluted cylinder. One day in the early 1990s, I ran across this one. It's a Colt Horse Pistol Special Edition -- a .45 Colt with 7.5-inch barrel and gold Colt logo inlaid on the top strap. Third generation, made in 1984. Depending on which reference book you read, there were either 198 or 250 of these guns made. There were two variations -- some had rosewood grips and some had ivory, and some had traditional fluted cylinders and some had unfluted. As you can see, this gun is unfluted with the rosewood grips, which have inlaid grip medallions and a "blind" grip screw (i.e., the screw head is visible on one grip but the other end of the screw doesn't go through the other grip). A nice fancy touch. This gun would have cost a fortune except for two things -- it originally came with a wooden box, which had been lost, and it had been fired by the previous owner, which dismays many collectors. This was fine with me because I was planning to shoot it anyway and now I could do so without any concern for depreciating its value additionally. So I bought the gun, and I've enjoyed shooting it occasionally over the years, even in a few Cowboy Action matches, although I always was a bit nervous in matches because I wanted to treat this commemorative more gently than, say, a stainless Ruger. But now I've probably not fired it in 20 years, and it's time to move it to a new home and reinvest the money in something else I'll shoot more regularly. So, here it is for sale. Now comes the difficult part. This gun is in great condition overall, but it does have a flaw -- there's a wear line around part of the cylinder, similar to a turn line from the bolt, but close to the front of the cylinder. I have a theory about how it got there, but that's not relevant now. It doesn't go all the way around the cylinder, so it's not visible in all the photos, but I have included one photo that depicts it at its worst. This was there when I bought the gun and so I didn't care about it, since I was going to shoot it myself and figured it might get more scratched up anyway. But it didn't, so that flaw remains the gun's worst imperfection. I've considered trying to touch it up, but I am not confident that touch-up bluing would do an acceptable job on this beautiful unfluted cylinder, and I've considered sending just the cylinder back to Colt and having it reblued. Maybe I'll try that if it doesn't sell. But rather than go to all that trouble I've decided to offer it as it is, figuring that perhaps another buyer will be satisfied with it, just as I was when I purchased it. So here it is. Looking a prices of other Colt single actions, I think $1,000 should be an attractive price, but maybe I'm wrong. Feel free to argue with me. Anyway, the buyer should be a Tennessee resident legally able to purchase handguns, and willing to meet in the Nashville-Murfreesboro area. Trades also considered. Thanks for looking, Whisper

  4. Valid point. Gov Lee used cell phone data to justify to COVID-19 lockdown saying Tennesseans weren't staying home voluntarily. If that doesn't scare the #### out of you, nothing will. People scared of a vaccine implant and then carry a personal government intrusion device voluntarily everywhere we go.

  5. Take a look at a EAA Witness. They are a very high quality semi auto and often fly under the radar in terms of accuracy and function.

  6. This is mine, converted from the suppression ready version, change to lower sights, put a bunch of Cajun Gun work parts and it is sweet. Need to watch if it has the walking decocker issue, which is a easy fix though. Good luck for selling.

  7. Off the top of my head, No Reciprocity with other states. If an employee of a state public university, have to have the ECP. Would expect private schools to continue to require ECP policies. There may be some issue with 'guns in trunk' law, will have to see how that shakes out. I have heard that Const. Carry may not be allowed in National Parks. Lot to learn and differentiate by July 1.

  8. @Worriedman opened this thread to concentrate on the current bill in the governor's hand so the other discussions would not muddy the water. so this will be my last post not directly related to that. ALL children need gun safety/safe handling education. They will at some point most like[y find themselves in the presence of firearms and whether they cared or were interested before that point they NEED the knowledge to prevent accidental shootings. We cannot force parents but it does need to happen somewhere. It should be taught at home as soon as the child can understand but most often is not.

  10. As a proponent of personal privacy I am in support of this legislation. I can purchase a handgun from another law abiding citizen and legally carry with out have to surrender a mountain of personal information to the state. This also saves money from having to pay for the class and the permit.

Even in restaurants I can literally smell the chlorine now since I’m so used to pure water. It’s crystal clear and pretty darn cold out of the faucet.

  12. And last time I checked the TN permit is one of the best in the country for total number of states we can carry in. I still renew my FL permit too. The TN permit allows you to carry in around 37 states. https://handgunlaw.us/states/tennessee.pdf

  13. Rob, with the language that passed, you will be able to carry as long as you lawfully possess the handgun and and are in a place that you are "lawfully present." There are exclusions as to where you can carry without having a permit. My suggestion is give this a few months and handgunlaw.us should have a pretty good outline of what you can do.

  14. @Worriedman Thank you for your tireless work on this specific effort and those in past years. Tennessee is becoming more reasonable every year in regards to 2A rights because of what you do. I know it can be a thankless and controversial job, but it is not a job, you truly believe and fight, when you could easily be doing something else.

  15. Two amendments were offered by Republican's that changed the vague legally present language to the permissions in Enhanced permit carry, they were stuck down as being filed incorrectly, but they were in fact prepared by legal. I am the one doing the ads and please tell me where I have misstated any fact, that REAL Constitutional Carry includes long guns and the 18 year old an up provision? Did we think those had a chance, no, but our constituents want the REAL thing, while others are OK with something less. By the way, I have not once said I was against the Governor's bill , just that it needed to be amended. I take no pay for the efforts I make or have for the last 20 years. It sure is not making me an friends and has nearly cost me my livelihood, so any who think I am involved for any personal gain are incorrect. I am old and am going to die soon, and I want my grand children as well situated before I do as possible. Everyone who is involved knew the Governor's Bill was going to pass, they did not vote for the Republican Amendment by Jerry Sexton because leadership did not ant that minute change to wherever an enhanced permit carry allows and there are plenty of places in this passed bill that you can not carry that you can with the enhanced permit, like when you are bow hunting or in a number of parks, but those traps make work for lawyers.... If you ordered a pizza and wanted anchovies and pepperoni and you got chicken and pineapple would you be happy? A lot more work went into this attempt to get the right thing than any of you might know, or actually can imagine, and it will be years now before they take any of these issues back up. I have 20+ years in working these issues and for me, personally, I will keep my permit because I want to travel out of State and can afford it. Of far more import, Civil Immunity (HB 0025) passed with more votes then the Governor's bill and that one affects everyone regardless of their desire to have a permit or not. I have been working that bill for 15 years and got it through the House again tonight. So, while there were expecting me to raise sand about the "Constitutional Carry Bill", the real work for us guys who realize we are the only defense we have against crime prevailed. It did last year too, but the Senate refused to even take it up. They can't afford not to hear it now, it is by -partisan, I even got 6 Democrats to vote for it. The bluster and dust got raised about something they pushed back on what everybody admits is not the correct thing we should have, all the while the most important thing slipped under the door unnoticed.

  16. From the Bill: The defendant's use of force or threatened use of force was justified and permitted by §§ 39-11-611 – 39-11-614 or § 29-34-201; 611 covers deadly force, it is all good.

  18. Ok, I got an e-mail from TFA today about this new law and it pointed out a couple of restrictions, but not all. Under the new law a citizen can not carry in a park or greenway. Also, certain misdemeanors prohibit you from carry including stalking or DUI. Apparently there are more restrictions, that are not mentioned in the article. So does anybody have or can they work up a list of ALL the restrictions on permitless carry? I'm really curious about all this because I know several non-permited folks who want to carry, but lack info. Another question: There was a vague mention of carrying in schools. Can an enhanced permit holder carry in schools? I thought that was always prohibited?

  19. Just got this in the other day. Castillo Knife, made in Spain. The steel is SANDVIK 14C28N-SPAIN. This knife is light, you don't even know it's in your pocket. Has some nice file work on the spine, locks up solid and even. The handle is Spalted Maple, and is a regular lock back design.

  22. The government has had a ton of info on me ever since I was 18 and joined the Army. Birthday, blood type, SSN, and who knows what they got when checking for my security clearances. I have a voter registration card, a carry permit and an IP address. Over the years the file just keeps growing. Personal privacy has been a myth since at least the 1960s. Now as Papa pointed out, can we please get back to the subject at hand? I'd like to get my question answered.

  23. Might be too late for this to help, but I agree with RandyB. One of my nephews has a EAA Witness 10mm, and although I was never particularly interested in the Witness, I recently had a chance to shoot it, and that thing is nice. I had a Colt Delta 10mm when they first came out and I wound up selling it partly because I didn't think it would hold up under heavy use (something that was subsequently borne out). But that Witness handles the 10mm well...mainly because it's heavy as a boat anchor, but if you're buying a 10mm, you're not looking for a lightweight gun. Straight shooting, well mannered, and reasonably affordable for a 10mm. If you decide against the Glock, it's worth a look.

  24. I am surprised the gun organizations thought it was more beneficial to pass a law with heavily restricted permitless carry (looks like you cannot even carry in a park legally) instead of fixing the problems with the present enhanced permit such as: A parent cannot legally carry when visiting his kid at college. A person cannot legally carry at night visiting a sick family member in the hospital due to no gun signs. An working adult cannot carry at the local community college when taking night classes. Some state office buildings legally ban carry due to the no gun signs.

  25. No. The new law does not take effect until July 1st, after the Governor signs it.

  26. I converted to a new drilled well 3 years ago and ditched the leaky city run to my house. The research I did said, the shallow wells will typicaly give better water above 100" than water found at deeper depths. We hit 1.5 gpm at 35' and nothing more for the total of 260'. The water is very good and only is slightly above max in iron so there is some red coating in toilets. I bought filters to take that out but have yet to find the time to put them in. I installed a 275 gallon glass lined storage tank that I had to get from a NY visit I did. Not any of the plumbing outfits around here even carry 275's in their catalogs while its a stock item up north. With a large storage tank, I allways have water even in power outages. In that case, if the pressure gets low, I fire up the generator, bang up the tank to its 68 psi cut off and turn the generator off. That gives me some 3 days of water use with no electric if I need to be in the black. I do need to shock my well since I'v not done that yet. That entails taking pool chlorine of 12% concentrate and put 2 gallons into the well if its 250-300 feet of water in a 6" caseing. run every faucet in the house untill you smell chlorine and then let the chlorinated well & plumbing sit over night. The next day, run each faucet hard and you will see alot of dead blackish bacteria blow out of your system. Its a good idea to do that every 3 years to keep the well clean. In a SHTF situation, don't expect their will be pressure in city lines in the long haul.

  28. Ok, so...ummmm dumbass question here: I've been kinda on and off following this, not expecting it to pass. Does the passing of this bill mean that everyone who can legally own firearms carry, or only those who can legally hold a carry permit, carry? I ask, because as a non immigrant alien (i'm sorry if y'all are all sick of this by now) I cannot get a carry permit, but I CAN legally purchase & own firearms (NFA excluded) I want, rather, need to know if this bill means I can legally carry, or if i'm still prohibited.

  29. I will say that if you are on a well you can have a really nice lawn. I tried starting some grass in my yard two years ago and the first month of watering was $100 more than normal. Let's say my lawn is more "natural" now...

  30. I'm no lawyer, but I don't think it's necessary. I believe that those parts of the code justify the use of force, up to and including deadly force, rather than making a distinction.

  31. Is this bill as great as it should have been? No. Are we better with this bill than without it? Yes. I am still surprised this governor was willing to push this bill at all. Tennessee governors tend to be moderates, regardless of party, and a change of this magnitude is not usually something they will promote. They might acquiesce to it, but usually will not promote it. My read on this situation is that the governor told the leadership “this far and no farther” on this one. He seems to be willing to appear more conservative than the usual Tennessee governor, but he is not going to push for what he sees as “radical” change. One other positive: I think what just passed may ease the ability to adjust the law toward what it should be without as much fanfare in the future. After six months of permitless carry without the ever-predicted carnage in the streets, we may see some “corrections” passed in the next session to address issues like carry in parks and other differences from the enhanced permit. Of course, they could just ignore these issues altogether, but lately it seems they like to tweak the carry laws almost every year.

  32. Nothing really. If you want to carry in other states who recognize a Tennessee permit, you sill still meed it. I have a lifetime permit.

  33. That is disingenuous, working the bills is not shown on the video stream, I got 72 yes votes for my bill, the Governor's bill got 64. I am simply telling the facts of the game that is played. How many days have you spent working 2nd Amendment issues at the General Assembly? How many meeting did you attend in Nashville with groups of legislators to actually write bills and advocate with Leadership to seek their passage. I have spent two decades involved in the effort. Employee Safe Commute, Guns in Trunks, Guns in Bars and Guns in Parks, all issues that leadership fought that TFA championed and worked to pass, a lot of shoe leather and groveling spent, I saw very VERY few others doing that work. Here is what Senator Kerry Roberts said about the issue, and yes he also said he would support the bill as written, but these comments bear witness I think. https://youtu.be/4tRXSSBP3cw

  34. Suppose you had a Grandfather that worked his whole life, veteran of WWII even who saw you as his favorite grandchild and left you his prized Colt Python .357, pristine and kept in the best repair and condition, (box and all) in his will. When the fateful day arrived and he went to his reward, no longer troubled with the scars of war and strife of life... The Probate of his Estate, meager as it was, consisting of his house and few possessions scattered about the multitude of his survivors, comes to fruition some months after his passing and you receive an RG .38. with cracked plastic handle, broken pawl. You contest the intent of the will only to be told by the Executor and Probate judge that you should be happy with the fact you go something akin to what your progenitor intended, and if you are savvy and toss in a lot of hard earned cash and trade up over the coming years at some point in the future you can possibly achieve the equal, if not exact item that was yours to begin with... I keep going back year after year, for decades now, to attempt to gain back that which our sires won for us from an overreaching tyrannical government, wrested with bloody hands and in fact due in great part to Tennesseans who would not take crumbs of their God given Rights to Liberty but at Kings Mountain shot and killed their rulers, bleeding and dying in the attempt to leave us with our Right to arms and true representation re taxes and being able to keep our property and some semblance of privacy. We are culls who have allowed scurrilous men to steal those hard won issues, kneeling and "taking what we can get" from their table. Legislators, off duty LE and judges carry with impunity everyday, wherever they wish Are they made of finer clay than we who simply work and die and shoulder the biggest part of the duty and payment for the society we now live in? Where Rights are chipped away successively, bit by bit and drip by drip, the water in the pot coming up to heat while we clamor about the good work of a legislature that knows we are due the full gift of recognition of the 2nd Amendment at least?

  36. Funny story.... In my past life as a Prepress wizard extrordinaire, I was working at an MBE print shop downtown. Only 2 white guys in the whole place (the estimator and me)..., that was the shop where I came across the photo I'm currently using as my avatar! So a bunch of the guys would get lunch from some bodega down the street every Friday. Real home cooked soul food, 10 bucks, got a big styrofoam clamshell filled with whatever they made that week. Driver walked around at 11:30 taking orders from everyone in the plant, I'd stop for a sniff, sometimes it was interesting, smelled good, sometimes. One day Kameron our driver asks "wanna try some?" Me: Smells good. What is it? Kameron: Ox Tails, white beans and rice with greens. Me:...... Kameron: (holds up forkful) Me: Nah man, white folks don't eat that part of the cow. They were all rolling on the floor laughing. Ya know its funny, out of all the jobs I've had and places I've worked, I experienced the least amount of racial tension while there. We'd cut up all kinds of jokes and stereotypes about each other, nobody got offended. Good times!

  46. While I like his explanation of what 41F is, that does not (in my opinion) cover very much of the benefits of a trust. Yes, many people used trusts before 41F mainly for the benefit of avoiding fingerprints and passport photos. But there are many benefits of using a trust that have nothing to do with tax stamp application process. That video doesn't address those, likely because it was not intended to state "why a trust is no longer the benefit it used to be." That majority of benefits still exist and really the only one that disappeared with 41F is avoiding the fingerprints and passport photo requirements. I have run into many instances where having a trust would be highly beneficial beyond the issue of getting the tax stamp. 1. Possession by Trustees - this has been covered many times, so I won't go into detail here. However, I am personally aware of several instances in Middle TN where someone has come into contact with LE (traffic stops, call to DCS, etc) when the individual tax stamp holder was not present, but the NFA item was. This could be particularly important for individuals who travel regularly and leave the NFA item (i) in the house with someone else (like a spouse) or (ii) in the possession of someone else (which happens regularly with deployed military personnel). 2. Passing NFA Items to Younger Generation - this has been covered and I won't go into detail here. 3. Simplicity after Death - a will typically works, but does your will deal with the possibility of a beneficiary who is not legally eligible to possess the NFA item. You might be surprised how often this happens. Also, NFA items cannot be easily divided, so if you have (for example) 3 NFA items and 2 beneficiaries, who gets what? NFA trusts generally take care of this issue. 4. What if You become an Ineligible Person (temporarily or permanently) - This one has come up several times. An older gentleman had a WWII battlefield "trophy" he registered with the ATF in 1986 (no trust, though). A few years ago, he had a conservator appointed over him, making him ineligible to possess firearms. Since he hadn't passed away, the NFA item could not just be passed on to his son (who obviously wanted it). In addition, the gentleman's conservator could not legally possess it, either (and she wasn't "gun friendly). The item had to be destroyed or sold. Similar issue has arisen in several divorce proceedings lately, with the husband having an Order of Protection issued against him. When that happened, husband was ineligible and there was no one to take possession while the Order still existed. Several people have had to sell or destroy NFA items under these circumstances. If a trust had been in place, the ineligible person could have been removed as a trustee and another trustee could have possessed the item. These are just a few of the odd circumstances where a trust is better than individual ownership. We would love for the previous benefits to still exist, too, but there are still many benefits of a trust.
