Although I let my father talk me out of a stint in military service, I feel I have been a productive citizen.   2. I've got good news and bad news: The good news is, we're not of this dying world and it's not meant to be our home. We're just passing through. The bad news is that we're still called to be salt and light to it so we have to make a go of it while we're here. Any time some Leftist tells the world how much they hate me and my Christian brothers and sisters, I just smile and remember that Jesus said that they would and that they hated Him first. That tells me we're on the right path even if it's getting darker around us and the path sometimes harder to see.

  5. I vote with my brain in gear. I did the same thing this time. I saw what was coming. Everyone with any sense did. All I've heard from the Liberal gun owners leading up to this moment is how I've been full of #### for thinking that Biden would come for our guns because it's always been nothing but talk. The problem is, there are a lot of other elements of the current era that have eroded the safeties, the checks and balances, that kept it from happening before. Again, I've kept my brain in gear. I've factored all of these things into my decisions whenever I've entered a voting booth.

It sounds like something a flaming Leftist would twist and contort to fit a specific political agenda after reading Jefferson's views on government and technology and how advances(scientific) should affect citizens. Not only did he not actually say anything about "old dead guys" and rewriting the Constitution every 21 years, he made it very clear through multiples writings throughout his life that changes were best approached from a moderate position.   8. That's painting with a mighty wide brush. I think that there are plenty of liberals who are plenty patriotic. The founding fathers spoke often of "liberal politics" and were, of course, revolutionaries. A properly functioning representative democracy like ours needs both liberal and conservative voices. The idea of having a government like ours is that liberals, conservatives, and centrists SHOULD be able to work together to find compromise positions.   10. I usually stay out of all the political stuff here, but I have some opinions. 1. The stytem is broken. The so called checks and balances have just become quicksand to keep anything constructive from getting done. Bills about X are passed containing so much fat , you need a bypass after reading them. Politicians do just enough to get reelected so they can get all the side benefits. Even if we don't elect them again, they go into lucrative lobbing or public speaking gigs.   12. It happens every time a Democrat takes office because Democrats make it an issue. Gun Control is a big part of their platform. Biden's Cabinet is full of people who have very specific views about limiting this and banning that when it comes to firearms. How many Republicans go on the campaign trail and talk about what guns and gun accessories they're going to ban? There aren't that many, are there?   13. Sir, we could get serious about punishing criminals. Our current legal system is a joke mainly used for money extortion. We could also get serious about treating mental illness. Gun violence is a made up political term. Guns are not violent. We do not have a gun control problem. What we have is a people control problem. For those among us who weren’t fortunate enough to have parents who taught us right from wrong and provided discipline, fear seems to me the only thing left to deter crime.

There is no such thing as “gun violence.” Some violence is committed with guns, some with other weapons, and some with the human body. It's like convincing yourself that if all cars were Teslas and had super-high tech cameras and computers that make it impossible for them to ram into another car or motorist, you could just take your hands off the steering wheel of your 1978 Buick and take a short nap.   25. I recently watched a documentary on a San Quentin prisoners' basketball team. I wish I could remember the exact quote, but a Lt. guard said something along the lines of: These guys are going to be released when their sentences are up. We can release them as the very bad men they are when they get here, or we can provide counselling and rehabilitation to them so that some of them WON'T be very bad men when they're released. Given that they'll be sharing the streets with you, which do you prefer? That made sense to me.

  26. We already incarcerate more people than all other countries. People are let out early because we simply cant house them. Decriminalize non violent drug offenders. Provide drug treatment instead. Then you have more room to rehabilitate more serious criminals. Provide job / vocational training. Allow post sentence convicts to reenter and become productive members of society.

  28. I'm not positive of this, but I believe that we can blame the Supreme Court for a lot of these problems. I seem to recall that they are the ones who made it incredibly hard for family and law enforcement to commit someone in need to a mental health facility without their consent.

I often use the word liberals to describe the left, but perhaps a better word, as said above, is leftists, because that's what they are. American troops firing on fellow Americans? When I was a young Marine ( a LONG time ago!) one of the field grade officers was working on his Master's Degree and distributed a questionnaire to enlisted Marines under his command asking a similar question (among many others). I no longer recall it exactly, but essentially it asked about their reaction to the idea of firing on Americans. But why do you have to attack every other person who tries to express their opinions? I posted the way I see the situation. I really don't care what you think. I'm not advocating an armed insurrection. I'm pointing out that it may be too late for even that to work.   47. Being the now old man that I am, it seems to me that things have always been in some waY #u%ked up. It's like we're always waking up and it's the end of the world as we know it. The politics come and go and we're always sure that "our" way of life is over.
