  1. This. It would be nice if it was stated in the ad but I believe the first I’ll take it wins whether in public or pm.

  2. Yup... Or first PM... leroy...

  3. I was just about to say this. If I decide to buy from someone here I PM them and don't necessarily need the rest of community knowing what I buy. The first person that speaks up publicly or privately should get it.

  4. I have made deals in PMs and not in the "add", I some times like to keep things just between me and the seller. If I step on toes I do apologize.

  5. The debate over .22 for self defense? has gone on just about as long as every other caliber war and with similar results. Now Federal has taken it seriously with a new line of Punch Self Defense .22LR ammo. It features a 29 gr, nickle plated FN bullet that comes out of a 2" barrel at around 1070 fps. Out of rifle length barrels is said to reach 1600+ fps. The idea being penetration over expansion. I got this article from Guns America Digest in my e-mail today. Federal Punch .22 ammo I also found this informative video from 22 Plinkster: Federal Punch: 22 Plinkster While the debate may never be truly settled, I like the idea of an ammo company taking the .22LR for self defense seriously and developing ammo for this purpose. For some people its the only viable choice. And yes, I'm well aware that all ammo is hard to get these days. But Federal is offering some of this new ammo for sale in their website. It's just sold out at the moment.

  6. .25 ACP might not be any more than .22 lr but it’s centerfire. Rimfire is notoriously unreliable, centerfire not so much. A good .22 pistol/ammo combination can be devastating with the proper ammo. That caliber has quite a history, statistics prove it. Imagine 400 grs (or 290 grs for this round) of projectiles hitting a target in 10 different places in the same amount of time it takes to fire a couple of any other caliber.

  7. It's very hard to include every possible detail of a transaction in the sales ad especially if the item being sold is used. To me, "I'll take it" is a firm commitment to the seller that you will buy, period. I prefer to post a "PM Sent" in the thread to let others know and communicate privately with the seller. We've never failed to work out those details and complete the deal. Plus I've gotten to know some great TGO members in the process.

  8. I would amend my earlier post to clarify "I'll take it" can be in the thread or via PM. However, I do think the seller should update the thread with a pending status as soon as able, which would be after reading the PM as a courtesy to others.

  9. Wow, Guys ...... I am so sorry that I did not list these items as maybe I should have. And for that, I sincerely apologize! The Fox double that is the object of displease was sold to a forum member on the phone immediately after posting. I will edit the listing to reflect the requirement of first “I’ll take it”. 1). I thank everyone who has bought and sold with me in the past without any problems. 2). Please do not judge all folks who live in Wilson County by my unintentional actions. God Bless & I appreciate this forum over all others.

  10. I agree the first "I'll take it" should have the opportunity. Buy saying that comes with an implied understanding that the money is available, and you're agreeing with whatever the seller posted about the conditions of the transfer (location, ID, ect). If someone isn't ready to move now, they shouldn't get to hold up the seller from moving to another and making the sale.

  13. Just a rambly letter of introduction... I was taught to shoot by my grandfather, who was a WWII drill Sargent (well Canadian equivalent). I've been shooting since I was about 6, have had guns literally my entire life (my "toy" gun was an old training hi point that gramps likely bought from the army, he was too straight laced to steal anything). We used to have spots we could go on our bikes and shoot, 22 long guns hanging out of gunny sacks on our backs...nobody cared or called police. I've seen that attitude change over the years, with the media pushing a fear-fuelled agenda to disarm those that allow themselves to be disarmed. I am currently serving my "2 year amnesty" for the crime of owning a legally licensed, purchased, registered sporting gun (or as they call it, an "assault style rifle". In fact, they're hitting me for about $4,000 worth of "registered" guns. We've got neighbors calling the snitch lines on people they don't like, screeching about how dangerous guns are, cheering this arbitrary disarmament, and I tell you, I'm done. Put it this way, imagine California suddenly took over, and brian selter was lord and ruler, and he was just splattering the country with all sorts of SJW nonsense...and people were cheering him on. THAT'S what it's like here. They have weed, drum circles, guys that wear twat knots and capri pants...yes there are a LOT of good solid people here, but they've all been driven out of the cities, and the cities have all the voting power. In fact, only 2 cities select the leader, Toronto and Quebec. These are the cities where they direct most "new Canadians" and they shower them with free money, free phones, free healthcare, everything they need, so long as they vote. It's insane but very effective for the left. So we are looking to not only move out of the city, but out of this country. We are one "order in council" away from being a literal dictatorship. He used guns to set a precedent in bypassing parliament kind of what president pelosi did to you). This is the second time in my life they have done this. I lost my AK and MP5 in '94-'95 to a similar ban, and that's when they started registering ARs (swearing they weren't doing it to ban them...ha). Why I joined here was to get a feel/taste for the environment. We have an immigration lawyer helping us out, as we plan on moving a profitable business down there. The plan is to get a property with ~50 acres or so, and I want to set up a spot to shoot (right now I have to travel an hour to a gun range to even plink, and they are trying to enact sound bylaws that will outlaw gun ranges, they are really kicking us hard up here). So I'm looking for maybe advice on areas to look at/avoid, maybe realtors to contact, things to consider, etc etc. Any tips would be welcome. Oh and I'd like to also add. When we get there, we won't be like the "new arrivals" to THIS country. We plan to adhere to the laws and customs of the land, proudly fly the stars and stripes (can we do that as foreigners?), etc etc. We're not looking to rock the boat, we want to embrace what you offer, and hopefully add to it. We'll be setting up an office and looking to expand the business (biotech), add to the coffers of the IRS, etc etc. We are not snotty ungrateful people (in fact, I think we're incredibly nice). My daughter is taking her masters, and hopefully she will take over the company at some point so that I can just sit, drink beer and work on old classic cars or something. Lastly, and this one is both important and sad that we have to say it, but we want to simply stop socializing with leftists/liberals/socialists whatever you want to call them. We originally had pegged North Carolina as our destination, but as we follow the politics, we honestly believe that TN will be one of the last, if not THE last holdout state (I have a very leftist sister in TX, and she is 'thrilled' at how liberal the state is becoming with all the lovely Californians moving in...after destroying their home state with progressivism). So I guess my purpose for posting here is to see if anyone can give some advice on where we should be looking for property. Ideally we don't want to have to rent for a year, then find a place, we'd like to just get a place and move in. The visa system is pretty weird, we more or less have to go there, set up, and THEN apply for the visa, as our investment has to be considered "at risk" to qualify for the E-2. The people on the NC forum were really really nice, and it's honestly too bad their State is going blue, but probably for the best, I wanted TN from the start, my wife wanted NC for the biotech community there, but realistically we just want to be around like-minded people, and live out whatever time we have left, in a truly free State and country. So many Americans are totally clueless about how awesome your Constitution is...they simply haven't lived in a country where the government starts to simply take away freedoms...don't let those freaks alter your constitution, there's nothing like it in the world, and it gives the people power to tell the government ENOUGH. Of course the dems want to obliterate it. How can you herd the sheep when you aren't allowed to build fences around them... We have one business associate in TN, and she's been giving us some tips, areas to avoid, not to travel around unannounced on private property(duh), things like that, but I don't think she really gets what we're looking for. We just want to know people who are proud of their country, don't regurgitate cnn as "fact", and say please and thank you (like people used to do around here). So there's the introduction

  16. A few years ago I missed a 44 Auto Mag by just 3 minutes, man I was mad. The seller was very understanding and sent a screen shot of the times of the PMs he received. I did thank him for the effort, I was still mad, not at the seller, me for being slow.

  21. I agree... and for some folks I think thats important: my wife has trouble shooting 9mm or .38s out of smaller guns b/c her wrists are in bad shape from work. She never carries anymore, has a small knife in her purse. At the grocery store, or in a parkinglot, nobody is going to measure your barrel diameter when you whip that thing out and point it at them. And while tiny, I'd still rather not get peppered with something moving 1000 fps. And a little .22, you could do a mag dump in seconds.... thats a deterrent. I had looked at the Glock .22s when they came out for her, but couldn't bring myself to pay that for a toy (not to say tupperware guns are bad, just that one glock is terrible). Now with ammo designed for the task, I might look at some other pistols in that caliber for her to use.... and I'm sure I'll find a use for her Ruger, somehow. Thanks for sharing @Jamie Jackson, I know your experience in the medical realm is hands on. Often wondered how those news stories on the gang bangers always say "non-life threatening injuries".

  25. I got my first dose there yesterday. Super easy like you said. I made the appointment online a few days ago. Day of, I walk up to the pharmacy counter one minute before my scheduled time, confirm my info, and get jabbed within three minutes. My second dose was scheduled for the appropriate time after my first when I did the online booking, so that's already on my calendar. The only downside is there wasn't a $10 gift card like they give out with the flu shot. I always use that to get something from the deli for free when that time of year comes around.

  26. A tip for those in the middle Tennessee area that don’t mind a bit of a drive. Midsouth Shooters Supply up in Clarksville has had powder in stock occasionally. If you go to their powder page they have an option along the side to filter by what’s in stock. Check it a couple times a day and you may just catch some in stock, but don’t dawdle or it might sell out (ask me how I know). Prices are higher than pre-2020 mess but not exorbitant. You can also pick up at their store instead of shipping and having to pay the hazmat fee. They’re open till 5 during the week.

  28. This. It would be nice if people called dibs by posting “PM sent” or something similar to let others know to back off, but first interest always wins, even if everyone else doesn’t know about it. The seller also has a responsibility to promptly indicate in their ad that the goods are SPF or something to that effect, like immediately.

  30. Stopped in there once for lunch after a meeting in White House. Just had a sandwich, though. Decent place, I'd go back if I was a local or if it was on the way somewhere. Glad they made it through the pandemic as well. They seem to be a pretty good local business.

  31. I swear they’re low key the industry’s R&D department. If it was revealed that the big US manufacturers all threw them some coin to keep them afloat, I wouldn’t be surprised. I swear selling guns is a side business to coming up with goofy #### that will be a hit a decade or more down the road.

  34. My wife and I decided to move to TN after I retired and after we spent a week driving around the eastern part of the state. I came back a month after that trip and looked at dozens of properties for sale before finding 20 acres in Crab Orchard, just east of Crossville. Both of us feel like we found "home." The neighbors are friendly but not intrusive. There's plenty of shopping in the area to satisfy the boss. And property prices were still reasonable, but are going up FAST. A couple of negatives. I pick up a kitchen-sized bag of trash from my 1000 feet of road front once a week during the summer months, half that much in winter. It really ticks me off. And it's hard to impossible to find anyone to do any kind of work out here, you better be equipped and willing to do it yourownself. I was surprised to find out how rainy and windy it is here (having come from WA), but if you're already in TN that won' be a surprise for you. At any rate, my wife and I could NOT be happier than we are in the Crossville area. I'm retired, so I haven't paid serious attention to the job market, but I notice that an awful lot of older folks are still working around here. I think an ambitious young man with some decent skills in most any area could do well here.

  36. Crossville is a decent community. There are several gun shops, and multiple pawn shops wihch carry guns. There's one indoor range and several outdoor ranges. The indoor range is clean and rarely busy. I haven't used the indoor range since the Chinese virus b.s., and we mostly shoot on our own outdoor range on our property. In my immediate area, it's not unusual to hear gun shots in the evening, in fact I heard some shots a short while ago (we've been having some issues with some coyotes and a bobcat bothering our poultry, but it wasn't me this time). Demographically, it's mostly Caucasians, there's a couple streets of darker complexioned folks located towards the western portion of town, just south of 70N. The majority of folks here are conservative, and a lot of them are retired military, LEO's, and other government employees. There are three major housing developments, Fairfield Glade, Lake Tansi, and Cumberland Cove and all three have H.O.A.'s. The rest of the area is rural. Most crime in the rural areas is crime against another family member, so everyone has a pretty good idea who the usual suspect is going to be. We like it in Crossville, as the folks are friendly and welcoming. The medical facilities are good, for both humans and animals. There's a good selection of restaurants and grocery stores. Crossville is definitely more conservative than Cookeville, and when I visit Cookeville I feel like I'm entering a suburb of Seattle. Let me know if you have any specific questions about Crossville and I'll try to answer them.

  40. Ok this ain't about the trial, Floyd, or anything political at all. So just don't go there. My question is just how can a person be tried for the death of one person and end up convicted on THREE separate death related charges? Second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. I would think the jury could pick one based on the evidence. But how can a person be guilty of three different kinds of murder when only one person died? Somebody explain this to me?

  41. I've been wondering about that myself. How many murder convictions can one get from the same crime?

  42. Very true. I agree. However, word of warning.... Years ago in a passed life I had several saltwater reef aquariums, helped startup a local hobby club, and participated in online chat forums regularly on Reefcentral (TGO for reefers!) We started having club meetings at peoples homes (cuz you can't haul a 200 gallon aquarium to the park!) Really good times: pizza, chips, soda, coffee, great conversations, faces to names, and the trading, OMG the trading... people pull up with 50 gal coolers filled with little plastic baggies... but I digress. One longtime member hosted a meeting at his house to show off a new and fairly rare coral he had just acquired. Lots of new members showed up. A week later, someone had broken into his home during the day, and stole that piece of coral. That was the last club meeting we ever held. I do not invite people I do not know personally in to my home anymore.

  45. Well my wife is literally 'the boss' (CEO), and 90% of our clientele is either left, or at least liberal (those two things aren't always the same). So I'm not really allowed to talk to any of the clients (until my wife clears it at least). So I know what you mean. I think she heard that ben shapiro was moving to TN, and she loves listening to that guy (I find he takes 2 hours to say what he could in 2 minutes), but that opened the door for me to get the ok to start hunting for places in TN lol.

  46. You could also possibly knock the iron sighs out of alignment, not have night sights for a low light shoot, tritium expire, tritium fall out, FO tube break, sight break. There are lots of hypotheticals and nothing is perfect, except using a point shooting base. For years the military and police taught point shooting, mainly ignoring irons, shooting from the waist. Revolvers barely had sights, as well as 1911's. Think Fairbairn/Sykes. Then they taught sight shooting with one eye, highly reliant on tactical/precision irons. Now we are back to sight shooting with an optic. I believe that is what Dave was pointing to with Leatham and Enos. Point shooting is always the best technique for speed, accuracy (both eyes), awareness, next target acquisition, multiple target awareness, etc. Optics are used an as aid for the effective shooter, not as a necessity. Over reliance on any sight is a crutch. Irons alone > Optics alone Optics with irons > Irons alone Point Shooting > All sight/optic
    1 point
  47. I understand the idea of optics being hard to carry. I felt the same way when they first came out and to be fair, the first mounts and red dots did have some odd edges.Especially since a lot of them were dovetail/rear sight channel mounts. Once that was figured out and figured out quickly it's not a problem. It seems a bit counterintuitive, until you carry a modern pistol with an optic. It truly carriers no different than any other handgun I've ever carried and has never snagged on anything. I do have "truck" guns and stash guns that do not have optics. That is purely for simplicity and the fact I don't get to check and change batteries regularly. However, on a carry gun it does not make sense to not have an optic. Especially in low light and adverse conditions.

  48. I am going to try to be polite but sooner or later it becomes important to speak truth and crush falsehoods, so if I start teetering there you're just going to have to forgive me or accept that my intentions are pure. That said, this screams "I have never really tried to carry a gun with an optic IWB or AIWB in a quality holster and supported by a quality gun belt, so I am going to make an assumption and pass it off as an anecdotal bit of wisdom." You're wrong. Sorry. Just wrong. Unless you somehow manage to carry your handgun horizontally in your belt with the slide parallel to the ground, there is no way that a modern dot optic, mounted to the slide and not stacked on a dovetail mount or some other oddball fixture, riding along the same plane as the slide is going to cause you discomfort. I almost doubt you'll even feel it. I sure don't and I am not some Greek Adonis with washboard abs and 0% body fat either. I like tacos. Parts of me push AGAINST a holster and gun. I never, ever feel the optic and it's never, ever snagged on anything during a draw. People also said that about the Model-T. People with pacemakers are truly #### out of luck then.
