I DON’T know. That’s the thing. I wouldn’t want traffic on that bridge until I did know. As far as the interstate system, it was mostly built in the 60’s and 70’s as a means for military equipment to be transported efficiently. It was an afterthought that the motoring public could actually use it too. Those bridges are ALL pushing 60 years old. We are coming to a place shortly where there will be an astronomical bill due to replace them. Anything mam makes has a limited lifespan.

Well they may not have a real plan of action yet. But in typical government fashion, they quickly found somebody to blame.

I'm not saying the didn't deserve getting fired. He most definitely did. What I'm saying is that government wasted no time at all in finding someone to blame. That's their normal procedure.

I load 4.5gr pushing a 230gr bullet. 7,000gr per pound. So 7,000/4.5 =1,555.5 reloads per pound.

I just left bass pro in Memphis at Sycamore view they have lots of 308 and .223 but they also had five boxes of small rifle primers. One of them was regular small rifle the others were magnum. They were selling them for $54 a box per 1000. If you get there quick there may be two left.

Not exactly. It was planned as a civilian/commerce project. It aint unusual to " monitor defects " in structures and even piping systems ( .. we did it on steam lines in fossil plants.. ), which, in the case of cracks, is " let's monitor it and see if it is growin "... This one did pretty fast. Some defects are worse than others. This is in a main structural member, meaning if you cut it, the structure will fall. This one is really bad. Thats why they are doin what they are doin. Bridge failures are often catastrophic and involve loss of life... This aint a " no.. nevermind " thing. leroy...

I guess my question is, if this crack has been there since 2019 and nothing has happened, is it really as dangerous as they claim? I get that it's bad, but I'm wondering if a temporary fix might be ok. I understand they have to be overly cautious at this point. We probably drive over other damaged bridges every day considering out horrible our infrastructure is right now.

"... The arch truss spans are above the roadway and connected with steel box beams. A steel box beam is comprised of two side plates, measuring 32” x 1-3/8” (inboard and outboard), and tow cover plates, measuring 25” x 1/2” (top and bottom). A mechanical fracture, or crack, was discovered within the elements of a steel box beam on May 11, 2021. The fracture impacts 100% of the outboard plate, 100% of the top plate, and approximately 20% of the bottom plate. The bridge is undergoing intense analysis, including bridge modeling, to determine the extent of the damage. As of May 14, 2021, there is no indication that the bridge is continuing to deteriorate. Additional modeling and analytical tools will be used to ensure quality control before making a final determination on structural stability. Design teams are working on short- and long-term solutions that would allow traffic to safely resume on the bridge ..." It looks like they have hired the old Peter Kewit Construction company to do the repairs. They are talkin about reinforcing this area. Code words for cover plating. Looks like a modified Snider-Enfield rifle. At some point it lost its original rear sight and a few other bits. I suspect that its either Egyptian or Pakistani from the markings. Edit: There's one on Gunbroker that looks very similar, according to that listing its a shotgun conversion of an old Snider-Enfield and used by the Egyptian police. Fraud? Falsifying documents? Do these state inspectors hold and licenses granted by the state? Oftentimes there can be legal consequences for certain things. I am imagining someone too lazy to get tour of the truck and slapped a new date on last years report (or similar).

The " charges " thing is a non starter... Im guessin ( ... The operative word is " guessin " ..) that the reason for the firing was forging inspection reports. He wuz supposed to visually inspect, then write a report. He obviously didnt... leroy...

Most everyone here has been super helpful in my journey and one of the suggestions was to pay $30 to the AFT and apply for an 03 C&R license and they'll weed out what the holdup is. It looks like mine was a battery arrest from a charge falsely made by an ex-wife that they dropped but the court failed to file the dismissal. I just received mail and info from the CA DOJ that looks like should clear mine up, my new paperwork shows that the disposition was that the prosecution denied further action on it. I'll send this to the nice lady from the ATF, and also a copy to TBI and hopefully that will be the end of this nonsense.

Know those plants quite well (at least the CCR side of them). Not much steam pipe inspection at JSF anymore, unless it’s the CC plant.

My fishing buddy and I had a great day today. Great conversation and great company. The peanut butter N crackers washed down with ice cold Coke was delicious. The weather was perfect. The Hiwassee River was clear and cold. The crowd did not show up and I only saw 6 folks out fishing. A light breeze kept us cool when the sun got high. I did not loose one Rooster Tail all day. My waders didn’t leak and I didn’t fall in . We got a late start and didn’t get on the river until 9:30. The fish quit biting at 9 so we didn’t catch a thing......BUT......My fishing buddy and I had a great day today. Lesson learned: It ain’t always about the fish!!

Carry whatever you're comfortable with but get some training and practice, practice, practice. I carry a Sig P220 in 45 unless my attire limits me, then I carry S&W model 36. I've had both of these for over 30 years. I've had training and I consistently practice with both. I've got Pythons, High Powers, hi cap Sigs, Walther and of course, several Glocks, but I always go back to those two. Its a confidence game kinda like golf and your favorite clubs. The smallest thing you can carry is better than the biggest thing you had to leave at home!

Just an update: 30 days had passed since my application was initially denied. The FFL had heard nothing from TBI, so I reapplied today and it was approved.

unlike those idiots that waited at the pumps in lines 10 deep or more I actually stay topped off so I was able to avoid all that silliness. I still don't understand why people choose to live their life so unprepared when it costs less and is much less stressful to just stay very slightly prepared.

Iv got 2 sniders. A very nice complete Indian one in 50 something cal that I hope to rebarrel to 50-70 some day. The other is a Belgian 12g African trade gun. That one has a brass receiver. The barrel had a pretty good bend in it and was rough so I cut it down to 18" and it hangs over the fireplace. Interesting old guns for sure. Good luck getting yours more complete.

Personally, I cut over at exit 4 in Paducah to Wycliff Mounds then hop over to I-55 North to St Louis. That way I'm in that communistic state as little as possible. The roads are better too.

You’re fine with a loaded gun inside of your vehicle. You cannot legally carry it outside of the vehicle.

I’m partial to my Ithica model 37. Mid-60’s vintage. It doesn’t as easily have the option to change the choke, but it is quite easy to swap barrels.
