  1. It killed a lot of people. Just not as many as they said. It's exactly like racism. If you talk to the folks that profit from it, it's WAY bigger than it really is. Promoters gonna promote.

  2. I landed a National Postal Meter Vg-Fine rockolas went super fast. I had another brand Fine in my cart and it was OOS before I could complete the sale. Their Site was strained to the max. I’ll post pics when it arrives on my C&R doorstep. I’m hoping this is a case of you can never pay too much, just buy too early. Not that it matters. I don’t plan to ever sell it. It will likely go in my will to family.

  5. What a shame. There’s no one who’s done as much for the 1911 since John Moses Browning.

  8. A long time ago, Doug Wesson killed darn near every four legged game animal in the Continental USA with a .357 mag. shooting 158 gr. SWC bullets. I don't think any animal you're liable to come across has gotten any tougher than it was in the mid-1930's. For woods walking/hiking in the S.E. USA, I am very comfortable with the same recipe. I have a 4" barreled Colt Trooper that's logged many miles either on my hip or in a shoulder holster stoked with 158 gr. SWC's. If you reload or have access to some ammo with 180 gr. SWC's, and they increase your confidence factor, they will work well, provided your revolver likes them and you can shoot them accurately. WYT-P Skyhunter

  10. Selling my nice factory FM-9 AR pistol with side folding brace. I have added a magpul pistol grip, a three lug adapter (barrel is threaded), pic rail for a light, a gas reducing charging handle by PRI. Has been 100% reliable for me, I am reducing the herd. With ammo the way it is I have maybe 200 rounds thru it max. Super handy factory build 9mm AR pistol. Includes 1x33 round glock mag and original box & manual. Will meet in Clarksville or North Nashville area. Buyer must meet all TN and federal requirements to legally buy a pistol, produce ID, and sign a bill of sale. I will do same. $650 Would consider in trade a Beretta 92x Compact.

  12. Count me into that. So, a gun owner can't anticipate our ####ty government acting the way they always act? Doesn't mean I agree with them. I just saw it coming. Bump stocks too.

  14. Anytime I went to a gun show and didn't find anything I went looking for I always brought primers or powder. I now have enough to last me through the idiot that's spending our money now. I think I've got some primers that cost me $60 for the sleeve [5000]. Some powder that I spent like $15/# for. I can still hide in the basement for an evening when the wife drives me nuts. And when the boys want to go shooting I've enough ammo to keep them busy so they don't shoot each other

  15. Very true. You can even argue that importing huge quantities of milsurps, such as those brought in during the late 50's through early 2000's, artificially depressed prices below what actual market conditions would have normally dictated. After those shipments dried up, prices returned to what "normal" would have otherwise been. Now, years after the big surges of post-WWII weapons stockpiles have been exhausted, we're seeing large increases in prices as rifles wend their way through the secondary markets. We won't see anything like that again, as virtually all military organizations around the world adopted the use of so-called "assault" rifles in the postwar era, those will never be imported as surplus weapons here. WWII left an unprecedented supply of bolt-action rifles lying around unused after the cessation of hostilities, that situation and the laws of the times represented an historical opportunity for the importation of surplus weapons into the US. The unique set of circumstances that allowed that to happen won't be repeated ...

  16. 1300 probably qualifies as a large shipment of imported milsurps these days. Most of the weapons still managing to trickle in now and then are assembled overseas by roving buyers, who buy up individual or groups of rifles from private sellers or other sources and bundle them into one shipment. An example is some of the Swiss rifles that are still occasionally imported, buyers roam through Switzerland buying up older rifles passed down by retired (or deceased) militia members. Once they have enough rifles to make up a shipment, the buyers send them to the states. Often times, we're talking dozens, not hundreds of rifles coming in, so a lot of 1300 is pretty sizable these days. The era of full containers being brought in with thousands of old milsurps is over ...

  17. Firstly, I had permission to post this. One of my buddies at work who is ex military, well his best friend sent him a picture recently, I think he is from some sort of special forces unit, and apparently he has been taking care of some business for us all in a certain middle eastern country! I did not edit the photo in any way apart from rotate it and making sure there was no serial numbers on the 1911. Enjoy!

  19. Me too! Post lots of pics and give a range report. Somebody on another forum said that Midway had 1300 rifles. IDK, somehow I just imagined the number as being much bigger. If this is true, I don't expect the impact on mags, accessories, etc to be as big as I thought it would. I also expect that many of these buyers already own a carbine or two and don't need much for them. But just to be on the safe side, I have already ordered a couple of spring kits and a couple other small things for my two rifles. As they say, better to have and not need.........

  24. From what I read you have the 1911 and could trade for the SA .357? Keep the 1911, feed it heavy loads and go. SA revolvers are great for hunting and very fine handguns. I would not choose an SA revolver for defensive use. The .45 is all you need for small black bears. use solid bullets not hollow points, save the HPs for two legged predators. If it were a DA .357 then it would be whichever you prefer.

  25. Lets be honest hipower, do you honesty think biden is capable of saying anything uplifting? I'm surprised he can find the mic when he walks out on stage. Has anyone else besides me noticed the VP Harris is always with him when he is speaking on stage. I always heard that both the President and VP when never suppose to be in the same room or area at the same time. When did that rule change?

  26. I carry a J frame 85% of the time and feel perfectly comfortable with that . If you can't hit what you are shooting at under stress and like to throw shots randomly like they do on TV then the answer is no . I do own autos but seldom carry them .

  27. Well said chances R. That is the mindset of most folks. Try not to go into the places that would most probably be the most dangerous. We never know if or when danger will rear it's ugly head. I usually carry even when out in the garden or cutting the grass. Bad guys are opportunists and usually prey on the elderly, weak or the person that isn't aware of the situation. Be safe out there boys and girls, this isn't Kansas and it's not the wonderful world we grew up in.

  30. I find carrying about 2 o'clock to be the most comfortable of the IWB positions for me. It is still fast ( legit sub 1 second draw to first shot from concealment on a timer ) as AIWB but more comfy for me. I carry a G34 or a G17 that way in a holster with the FBI cant. So essentially take your holster that you would be wearing at the 4 o'clock position and move it forward so that the barrel of the gun goes right under the watch pocket of your jeans. The grip then kind of disappears into you. Here's a pic of me (black shirt) carrying an RMR equipped G17 at 2 o'clock, clinch pick knife at 11:30 o'clock and spare 24rd G17 mag IWB at 11 o'clock ...

  31. That sounds about right. The Planned demic, has completely cured the Flu. All strains, nobody gets it anymore. And for a long time anybody that died, died from China Virus. Chinese people are still probably saying, "we cure flu, and nobody thank us".

  32. I don't pay extra for 'all matching' parts on US military guns. I know how the military operates and 'all matching' means that someone swapped parts to make it that way 99.95% of the time. Most of the carbines I see with Type 1 sights look like they had a Type 2 or 3 sight removed and a Type 1 staked in. During WW2 the Military did not care about having one manufacturer making all the parts. Parts from different makers were shipped wherever they were needed at that time. And after the war, everything was re-arsenalled. Again, nobody cared who made what part. They put them back together using whatever in-spec part was next in the bin. If you want the 'authentic' WW2 look, buy whatever carbine you want and change parts to match what you want. I see repro flip sights for $40 and originals start at $80 on eBxx.

  33. Well..........isn't this a surprise A California county cut its COVID-19 death toll by around 25% after determining that some deaths were not a "direct result" of the virus. Alameda County revised the total number of deaths caused by the coronavirus to 1,223, down from 1,634. County officials decided to revise the numbers to align with the California Department of Public Health's guidance on how to classify deaths. The county previously included deaths of anyone infected with the virus, regardless of whether COVID-19 was a direct or contributing cause of death. https://www.foxnews.com/health/california-county-cuts-covid-death-toll

  35. It's sad but true. The other day I was at a local LGS and was just looking around, they had some AR's and I was looking through the rack and found that they had about 5 S&W MP 15's for $750-$800 thought to my self that isn't a bad price, then it hit me the ammunition will cost me more than the AR, so I just put it back and came home.

  39. Decided to buy a Glock 20SF 10mm pistol because of price and reputation. I sold it after one trip to the range. The recoil was brutal. Invested in a Sig P220 Hunter 6" 10mm. Totally different felt recoil and now I enjoy shooting the beast, whenever I can find ammo at a reasonable price.

  40. Of the two, I'd go with the SA .357. Much more versatile with ammo selection and just better suited to the task asked for. As for myself, I much prefer a DA revolver in either .44 Special or .45 Colt. I also agree that an encounter with a bear is extremely unlikely. More likely critter encounters would be feral hogs or wild dogs. Even that is pretty slim. The real threat is from bad people.

  41. .357 all the way but I would be more concerned about hogs than bears.
