  7. Another happy ending. Don't have a gun..........no worry Partygoers beat a man to death with bricks early Monday after he opened fire in Fort Worth, police say. Another person was fatally shot, and at least two more were wounded. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/2021/07/26/shooter-beaten-to-death-with-bricks-after-opening-fire-at-fort-worth-party-police-say/

  19. Yes, but we've got reasons that are COVID explainable, not signs of the economy being in a bad place absent that factor. We can't just go through what we did from March 2020 -Present and not have lingering effects for a bit. Meat processing still isn't back to where it was before the pandemic started, and neither is the supply chain from slaughterhouse to supermarket. Not ideal, but this wasn't going to be fixed when the masks came off. Fuel is one that's always in flux, but OPEC cut production when COVID curbed the use of planes and cars, and they've kept that production low as travel return to try and recoup profits. At best, they're going to slow roll the production increases people are asking for. Cartel's are gonna cartel, unfortunately. Building materials are probably the one to keep an eye out for (to me, anyway), but it ties into a bigger danger. COVID has hedge funds realizing they need even more diversification in the event of bad times. So, they're buying real estate and have no issues creating a permanent renter class along the way. If those don't come down before too long, private capital is going to keep buying homes at a pace I think isn't healthy for society in general. They've taken to overpaying up front knowing they can amortize and deprecate any costs along the way as they generate cash flow from day 1 in what I hope is not a new front for the sake of the middle class. All that leads to building prices increasing along the way. I'm not saying we're in a particularly good spot, just not seeing a bad one yet if bumps smooth out over the next year.

  20. BillyB, if you are now a TN resident, you have 6 mos to get a TN permit. Your FL permit won’t be valid, at least that is my understanding. Otherwise all other points seem correct. Permit has no bearing on long guns.

  21. On a related note about keeping records to later use against transgressors, down in Florida those who have been identified as being at the capital on January 6, 2021 have had their concealed carry licenses suspended. Mind you, this doesn’t necessarily mean the people having their license suspended broke any laws or were inside restricted space in the capital. It only reflects that they were in the vicinity at the time. “Nikki Fried Suspends 22 Concealed Carry Permits For Floridians Involved In Capitol Breach” https://miami.cbslocal.com/2021/07/27/nikki-fried-concealed-carry-permits-capitol-breach/?fbclid=IwAR0bGA4EEyS1UWaNY0045QC6jYxQSTotCGNQ7QiL1JpAR-IZLQeGu1rInO0

  23. You are correct on all points. Regarding the long gun, the statute does not specifically state it must be cased, so it’s up to you how you wish to transport it. That is of course since you are transporting it under your permit by TN Code, and not under FOPA rules.

  24. I agree that they're a little oversprung. Some owners had trouble, while others did not. Century Arms will send you a lighter RSA for free if you contact them. I had a little trouble with mine early on with match loads, but the new RSA cured that.

  30. If these electro vehicles arent annoying enough now. I was watching a vid on the new found science of the Sun's magnetic fields. Its pretty interesting to see how the sun functions with what they know at this point. It all boils down to we just finished up a magnetic short cycle and thats when the new cycle of increasing intensities come on at very high levels creating the most intense solar flares. The next few years are forcasted to be the most potentially powerful EMP producers that we have seen in decades. Just another reason to buy that model A pick up I'v been wanting ever since My High school buddy and me used to tool around in his Dad's Model A 5 window coup way back when. We could hit 50 wound right tight going down hill!

  31. My dad got a check engine light last week. I used my $15 code reader to scan it and figure out it was related to the MAF sensor. Start looking closer under the hood and his air filter cover wasn't on. The idiots at Jiffy lube installed a new air filter and didn't even put the cover on right. So he was sucking in dirt for a week. I'm thankful I've learned how to work on both vehicles. The only thing I've paid a shop to do recently was an alignment. I would never trust a place like Jiffy Lube.

  32. I’ve had one for a few years. Two things I don’t like about it: it’s oversprung IMO, and the shape of the trigger means my finger drags the bottom of the trigger guard. With a lighter recoil spring and a different trigger, it would probably work perfectly. However, for competition, I shoot reloads at minor power factor, and got more stovepipes and 3 point malfunctions than I’m comfortable with.

  33. Yesterday I was giving my ATV some lovin. Oil change, new air filter, adjust brakes, and most importantly I replaced the recoil starter rope that broke almost 4 years ago. I was doing this work, with special attention to the starter rope as I'm planning a 3 day solo trip to my hunting lease next weekend. The lease is big enough that if I were to have a battery or starter issue I could be looking at a several hour walk back to camp with no way to get the ATV out. I get everything done and go to start it to pull back into the parking spot and it's got nothing. I'm thinking that's very ironic since I literally had just installed the back up starter rope. I go get the battery charger and start to hook it up when I realize that the positive terminal is loose. Tighten it up and I was good to go.

  37. I feel like it's purposely confusing so that grey area will be what they use to attack it when something goes wrong they can tie back to it. I dont know about anyone else but I get asked at least once a week about carry laws. You wouldn't believe what some people think is illegal and then some that are surprised to learn what IS actually illegal and they've been breaking the law for years. Goes to show you how blissfully some people neander through life.

  38. Is it better than requiring a permit for carry at all, yes. It’s still needlessly vague, confusing and will quite likely result in someone getting hung up because they didn’t understand what it does and doesn’t do. I too am hopeful that it can be cleaned up and true constitutional carry enacted.

  39. Am I the only one that feels like some are making the permitless carry law out to be worse than it is? I know it's not perfect but it still seems like a huge step in the right direction. I am hopeful they clean it up in the future.

  40. You are correct that there are many millions of people who carry every day regardless of what the gun laws are and in clear violation of them. I do however believe that it is unfair and incorrect to assume that because one chooses to carry in violation of the law they are also the type of person to violate the life liberty or property of others. If the choice is to carry in violation of the law, or put oneself at risk and at the mercy of those who may decide that one is a target for which they wish to do harm there is no choice there at all. “In the first place, it would efface from everybody’s conscience the distinction between justice and injustice. No society can exist unless the laws are respected to a certain degree, but the safest way to make them respected is to make them respectable. When law and morality are in contradiction to each other, the citizen finds himself in the cruel alternative of either losing his moral sense, or of losing his respect for the law—two evils of equal magnitude, between which it would be difficult to choose.” ― Frédéric Bastiat, quote from The Law

  41. There are many people in this country that carry guns anywhere they want everyday and are not restricted at all by what the gun laws are. They probably number in the millions. They also commit armed robbery, murder, rape, sell drugs, rob banks, burglarize homes, jack cars and trucks, commit home invasions and such like. They will continue to carry guns anywhere they want everyday and will not be restricted at all by what the gun laws are. They probably number in the millions.

  43. Democrats make lots of promises to their fans too, many of which also go unfulfilled. The true test for any politician, and party, is not what they say during election season, but what they actually do once elected. Of course, election season is pretty much permanent, so there's that too ...
