  1. The base here in Millington is overran by deer. A while back I saw somewhere between 30 and 40 does and fawns in a field beside the Commissary and this is on the main road coming on base.

  2. Nice condition Ruger Redhawk with a Tasco 1x20 lighted reticle scope. The gun shoots great and the scope has fresh batteries in it. I intended to hunt with this but I just have to many hunting tools right now and it never gets used. $800

  3. I wasn’t there and don’t know the whole story, but I occasionally deal with people who claim they are “constantly being harassed.” After doing a little digging, it often means “I don’t like being told what to do.”

  4. Cleaning out the safe of a few guns I just do not shoot. Here is a nice Smith that I got from Gr8smiles. Here is his description: Born in March 1948, this Smith & Wesson pre-17 K22 has a lot of life still in her, and boy if she could talk the stories she would tell. Period correct diamond magna stocks have a different number from the gun. Deep dark blue still looks great on this 5-screw revolver. She is about as smooth as any revolver I own. For an 83 year old gun, she runs better than most new guns. It does have a little muzzle wear and the I have had a couple of light primer strikes. I gave it a good cleaning but have not shot it since then. $800

  6. I don't mind you selling your mags and I hope you're successful at selling everything you have and that is sincere. However, don't you think it would be better to contact that person via pm instead of replying to sell something of yours in my post? Granted I was not trying to sell anything, but you're a vendor and I'm guessing you wouldn't be too thrilled if I was trying to sell knives on your posts.

  7. It's that way on many installations, the deer know where they are safe and hang out there. Here at Ft Campbell, they used to have a cull once a year or so, where they got a few guys to get them at night to decrease the population. The deer would be donated to soldiers and their family and I think also the Hunters for the Hungry as well.

  9. Location is Murfreesboro off 840 and 24. No bill of sale/paperwork. Electronic and cash payments accepted. Not looking for trades and not looking to drive across Tennessee to sell it. Would actually prefer you come to me and do a garage transaction, but we can talk. Continuing to clean out the safe and get rid of stuff I’m not using. Watched Heat a few months ago, a whimsical SBR was the outcome. One range trip. Probably 90ish rounds through it. Irons just aren’t my cup of tea…until I start watching 90’s movies. 12. Picked this up over the weekend. All numbers match and looks to be fired very little. Came with 2 original mags and cleaning rod. Holster as well but it's a remake. Anyone have some experience with this gun? If so how do you like it?

  13. I do a lot of loading and testing. Thought these results may be of interest to some. I always enjoy hearing others results as well. This test was done at 30'. I used CFE Pistol powder and CCI 500 primers. All shots were fired from a Ransom Rest. I did target and ballistic gel tests. The rounds you see were taken from the ballistic gel. All averaged 12"-15" penetration. The V-Crowns and Gold Dots mushroomed out very well and had great weight retention. The RMR hollow points are very accurate but the jacket fragments quite a bit on impact. The Hornady XTP is a bone crusher. Everything was loaded on Dillon 650s with a Mighty Armory sizing die.

  22. Greg, I know that feeling all too well. Back in the mid 70s, I fished Cordell Hull 2 or 3 times a week for crappie. Always caught a lot of fish. Fished from one end of the lake to the other, year around. Sold that boat, then about 10 yrs later, bought a new boat, headed back to Cordell to all my old hot spots. Zero fish/bites. Embarrassed myself. Problem was, when I fished before I kept up with what they were doing, where, depth, etc. Had totally lost out with them. It happens. Funny little story on my Dad & me. It was Aug. , hot, mid day. We went to Defeated creek, where I had been catching fish. He said, "it's too hot, you won't catch anything now". I said, we'll see. I pulled up to a drop off where there was brush just under the water. I told him just drop your line right there. He started catching fish. He said I would not have believed that. LOL. Moral of the story, you have to keep up with what they're doing. Cover, depth, etc. Takes a while & patience, something I have in short supply these days. Maybe you'll do better. Good luck my friend, wish I could go with you, but not in the cards.

  23. Sure, as long as the TN FFL is willing to ship it to a CA FFL where it would need to be picked up, if accepted. I imagine CA’s roster of acceptable handguns might come into play as well.

  26. Last update .... Replaced factory light with this kit. Also moved it from rail on scope to rail under hand guard out front. Made a lot of difference in range/PID ability. Maybe the nicest benefit is the "dialable" light intensity. You aren't locked into preset levels. This is a benefit in short range situations as well as longer ranges. Easy to get to, and easy to adjust with one finger. I was disappointed at first. But after fiddling with it for a while, I discovered that the Contrast setting of the scope has a large and direct impact on effectiveness of lighting. More so than I would have thought. Good upgrade. ETA: Concerning the scope itself ... It'll go up to 8x magnification, but anything above 4x results in so much image degradation that it's almost unusable. Even in day mode it's pretty bad. In closing .... As I've said before on this forum, I don't hunt at night. My firearm acquisitions topped out a while back, and now my "hobby" is optics. I enjoy using/trying different things. It's a learning process. And one can never learn to much.

  31. Introducing Shane Kerwin and Personal Survival Solutions: As most of you know, I am a firm believer in getting good training from reputable and knowledgeable educators with experience in firearms safety, effective and responsible use of firearms for personal protection, risk avoidance and de-escalation techniques, unarmed combat and personal emergency medical skills. It is very rare to find a person who can educate on more than one or two of those concepts at a high level of proficiency. That is not to say there is anything wrong with finding a person who is an expert in any one facet of "preparedness", but rather to point out that while we all endeavor to be well-rounded practitioners, it is difficult to find people who are far enough down that road themselves that they can effectively instruct others. Often times, the people who operate at that level of proficiency come to us from highly trained, highly specialized units of military service or law enforcement. Shane Kerwin, founder of Personal Survival Solutions, is such a person. Mr. Kerwin served in the US Army's 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group as a junior Medical Sergeant. During his 16-year tenure with 5th Group, Shane served as junior and senior Medical Sergeant, Company senior Medical Sergeant, Special Operations Target Interdiction Course (SOTIC), senior Cadre and Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge, Company Operations Sergeant, and Detachment Operations Sergeant (Team Sergeant). During his time with 5th Group, he deployed 7 times in the Global War on Terrorism and has additional deployments under his belt. Now operating in the civilian sector, Shane Kerwin is bringing intensive, realistic and proven skills and concepts to the rest of us. He has made it his new mission to help regular people protect themselves and increase the security of their families by imparting what he has learned on the topics of Mindset, Weapons, Skills, Equipment and Environment. The ultimate goal is to teach you to make good critical decisions to mitigate threats and respond to an increasingly dangerous world. I hope that you will not only join me in welcoming Mr. Kerwin and PSS to our community, but that you will click over to their website, learn more about what he has to offer, and sign up for a class or two. Maybe we'll end up in one together. Website: https://www.personalsurvivalsolutions.com

  32. You got the lack of transparency thing right. But they also don't care what the members think. I hadn't been happy with "Compromise Wayne" for a long time, but when news of his shenanigans came out, I tried to speak up. Oddly enough, NRA's e-mail suddenly went down and phone calls only got recordings. The NRA leadership has completely lost touch with the membership and don't seem interested in what we have to say. They have become just like the politicians they are supposed to be fighting.

  33. My view, all of the stuff I read about WLP came from the same media that I do not trust anyway. My perception, people just regurgitate others or the media, not first hand knowledge. I don't know what to believe. I do question the credibility of any information during the same time the NRA is being attacked like never before in its history, this causes me to question everything. The spin factor is full on. I do know, if WLP cared about the NRA, I mean truly cared like you and I would, knowing all of the negative news and the perception what appears to be large swath in membership has of his poor performance and taking to much funds for his life style, factual or not, WLP should resign immediately for the health of the NRA, take one for the team. If he has that much of an ego, make him a emeritus or something if you have to, just remove him from a very public leadership role. I am confident he has achieved enough to retire comfortably for rest of his life. We need a powerful and healthy NRA now and in the near foreseeable future with the full assault that is occurring on the organization. The left is relentless, we need the same relentless from the NRA, with leadership, and members. A house divided will not stand (Matt. 12-25). Life Member!

  34. I go the route of stuffing their postage paid return envelolpe with a letter stating that as long as Wayne is in place and spending member's contributions on fancy suits that they will not see another dime from me. I also point out some of the cases in which I feel the NRA dropped the ball politically. I keep that letter on my computer. Each time I receive a NRA solicitation I print the letter, put it in their envelope and send it in.

  35. I'm in agreement. I stopped liking them because of him. I'm already a life member or Id probably cancel membership if i was paying yearly dues. I think they have done much for us, despite their wasteful suspending at the top.

  36. I have stopped donating too. But, we don't need to be wishing for their demise. Chasing Wayne off is a whole lot different than Latisha using the State of New York to destroy the NRA. Piss on that woman, and all her friends. She doesn't hate Wayne. She hates ME.

  37. The NRA called me for a donation just a couple evenings ago and I told them that no more money from me so long as WLP was running the show. Apparently the caller (I wonder if they're members or paid?) had heard it a few times before, as she just thanked me and hung up. I've been an NRA life member for a LONG time, and made regular donations up until a few years ago. I can hardly believe that WLP was reelected and find it disgusting.

  38. Freedom Day seemed like a good time to get this one cleaned up, so as promised here are some finished pics. I picked up 2 USGI 15-round mags wrapped in the wax paper from Brownell's. I'll keep them as they are and get some KCI mags for actual use. I'm waiting on ammo prices to get back to normal and I'll get some .30 Carbine and have some fun. The splotches on the wood were definitely some kind of mold or mildew (given the round clusters, I'm going with mold). Oderless Mineral Spirits wasn't doing anything on those, but it did cut the little bit of dried grease off easily. There wasn't much on it. It wasn't all gunked up the way a milsurp SKS usually is. Some are pics made as I disassembled so you'll still see some of the grease. I did have to resort to Simple Green for the mold. It took it off without damaging the finish, but the mold did leave behind some lighter splotches in the wood. I may go back over the stock with some Tung oil to help preserve the wood. The splotches are right where human sweat would have been most in contact with the wood. The left side of the cheek weld area, the underside of the grip where fingers would be grabbing, and a little out on the lower forearm where the support hand would be. I kind of like the discoloration it left behind because it tells the story of this rifle a little more. The metal is in great shape overall with only some very light rust marks on one side of the trigger group. The rifling is clean with sharp edges. I didn't disassemble the trigger group or the bolt. Both move freely and weren't crudded up so I just hit them with some cleaner and scrubbed what I could reach then added some oil. I tried to capture all the stamps for those of ya'll who nerd out over that sort of thing. The main stock, is stamped with an "H" by the mag well and a "3" along the front edge, both inside the stock and not visible when assembled. No markings in the upper hand guard. The bolt is marked "EM-Q" for Quality Hardware. There's a "5" at the rear of the the trigger assembly and "4" and smaller superscripted "3" towards the front. I didn't notice any other markings. There's a "W" on the hammer for Winchester. The usual ordinance bomb on the bottom of the trigger guard. The rear sight is marked "IR CO." for Inland or IBM. With the number on it, I think that makes it a post-war part so it was replaced at some point after the war. The barrel, as I mentioned above is an Underwood "3-43". The barrel spring retaining clip is marked "U". On the bottom of the barrel it's marked "PW ARMS REDMOND, WA" but that looks lasered on to me rather than stamped. I suspect it's the importer?

  39. Just got home from vacation and found my M1 waiting for me/ Here are some fresh out o the box pics, pre-cleaning. This is a Postal Meter Very Good - Fine grade: The splotches on the wood appear to just be on the surface. It's either a dried substance or perhaps some mildew/mold. It scratches off easily with a fingernail (which was promptly washed). Any suggestions on cleaning the wood? With my old Mosins I just scrubbed the wood with Simple Green and rinsed them off with clean (ish) water....they were $80 Mosins. I suspect I may need to be a bit more diligent about this one. I was thinking Murphy's oil soap would do the trick. What say you? The metal looks to be in great shape. No significant wear that I saw off hand. No rust. The wood has no cracks, but has the usual dents, dings,, etc. The barrel is marked Underwood 3-43. I'll get some better pics, including the bore after cleaning. P.S. I can confirm the email from Midway posted above is legit. I received the same one.

Everyone was on strike, parts were sourced from Hasbro, utter garbage. $300 & I'll add it to my collection to save you further embarrassment. I'm honestly astonished & quite frankly, ashamed for you, for admitting it. Your gun, post & life is terrible & you should feel terrible for it.
