…so just for all the purists out there keep in mind I bought this thing from AIM 10yrs ago beat to hell as a project…I have a gorgeous FN HiPower in Royal Blue unmolested….this was a fun project…cerakoting and laser engraving by Corded Arms in Sevierville TN. Cuts and sights installed half a decade ago locally.

On the other hand, if one was inclined to see just who has their finger prints on much of the medical lesson plans taught in Medical school, finding a "Good" doctor may not be that easy. The last time I had the flu shot was over 35 years ago. I got sick, missed work, 10 days worth of crap. I have not taken one since as well.

Once she trusts him and lets him touch/pet her he could likely find out. There is generally a small incision scar after the dog has been spayed. Both of my females have had a small scar. Vets are not plastic surgeons and generally are not as concerned with scars when completing surgery. One of the best tricks I have seen/found for getting a stray/abused/or otherwise skittish dog to trust you and humans again is non attentive proximity. This means you bring the dog into a somewhat restricted space, say a laundry room or a smaller enclosed porch. You get a bowl of food at a meal time and place the food on the floor for the dog to have access to it. You then sit on the floor, allow the dog to eat in their own time, and do not approach or attempt to touch the dog. You start by sitting as far away as you can from the dog in that space and just more or less ignore them while they eat, bring a book. You are close but not attempting to handle or approach them. You do this over the course of days moving slightly closer each day. By the end of it you will likely be able to sit right next the bowl and pet the dog while it eats. It gets the animal used to your proximity at a vulnerable time and the animal learns that you are non threatening so they can relax in your presence.

That dog looks like it's starving. Trust will take time- if it's that timid, it may not have been treated well. You'll obviously need to get it a sheltered, warm place to sleep or shelter in. The cold is coming.

I don't know. I do know he has a history of lying and then winning lawsuits because his lawyer claimed "no reasonable person should believe him". The judge agreed. I got my covid shots at the VA because that's the only place I could do so at the time, but I really dont like how Im treated at my VA here in Nashville. They left a bad impression on me when I first went there in the 90's and that low opinion has not changed. Probably mirrors my opinion of the VA in general. The bureaucracy seems to spend more time and money fighting veterans than serving them.

We've got a pit bull terrier mix of some sort that we inherited from my daughter who got her as a puppy rescue but then couldn't keep her. I think she was a few months old when she got her, and around a year when we got her. My daughter says she was abused by a man, no details on how, but she doesn't like men now. She was very attached to my daughter, and once she was here, she very quickly developed an attachment to my wife, even though I'm the one that feeds her and takes her out, lol. At first she'd have nothing to do with me but after a good while she does now. She is afraid of me, she just prefers women. Maybe she's a lesbian, I dunno, lol. I work form home during the day and my wife goes to an office, so I'm here with the dog all day. The dog mostly sleeps during the day, other than when she wants to go outside. She's funny, and very smart. When my wife comes home, its like the skies open up for this dog. Unbelievable change in behavior. After an adequate amount of loving attention from the wife, the dog becomes my friend and wants to get in my lap and will back up to me to get petted. Weird dog but smart and very loving, and also very spoiled by both of us. She will sit on the foot of my recliner if I recline it, and wait for me to pet or scratch her. If I stop she will turn her head all the way around to look at me, as if to say, I didnt tell you to stop.

I was just the opposite, got sick as a dog every year after the shot while in the Navy. Haven't had the shot, nor the flu since I retired in '83.

I get one every year. It's saved my bacon.prior to that, every year, in bed with the flu, couldn't get up, or feed myself. Not since.

You sure generalize a lot I have two sons (18 and 23) who both work construction, and I’ll wager either could work circles around you. One has an engineering degree and the other is still in high school.

Shelter, food, and 20 acres to roam? She definitely came to the right place.

It will take time, but probably not a lot. Once she knows she has a place to get food and a place for security/safety in her dog house, she will quickly start to warm up to you. I don't know a lot about the breed so not much help there, but I firmly believe you will both find that you bring something to each other. Once she is more comfortable with you, I would introduce (on leash of course) her to the cats. She may end up inside at some point (on purpose or accident) and better to introduce them in a controlled environment first. Most importantly, thank you for taking her in and giving her a home. I hope it works out well for both of you.

Give her time and kindness, she will come around. Her past is unknown to you and her future is unknown to her. Be patient and consistent and her trust in you show itself. Her actions, as you have described, are her way of checking you out since you don't know what kind of damage an inbred, brain dead, idjit has done to her. You have the beginnings of a wonderful partnership in her. God sent you a blessing in fur!

You need think more globally. The US no longer dictates the global car market the way we used to. As was pointed out above, EU nations will be all electric in the next 10-15 years. But that pales in comparison to the Chinese market. They never had the massive infrastructure built over the past 100+ years supporting ICE like we built, so they're building out their EV infrastructure like nobody's business. The EV market for China alone is big enough to make every manufacturer go all EV in the next two decades.

All I know is this Gen X boy is going to be stuck with having to buy a ridiculously priced electric vehicle when I’m on a fixed income in 20 years.

Understand. I stay as far from the Nashville VA as possible. I use the one in Murfreesboro. Compared to Nashville, not too bad. Having said that, the only reason I go anywhere a VA is to get my meds free, couldn't afford them other wise. I've had bad experiences at both. Hope things improve, Brother.

Assuming that those statistics are true, and they very likely are, it's the other side of a coin. How many Americans are saved per year by the medicates prescribed to them.? People drown in water, does that make it inherently bad? You can overdose on iron, does that mean you should avoid it completely? Peanuts will kill some people, does that mean we should eradicate them? I'm not saying that doctor malpractice isn't real, it obviously is. It becomes worse when you have doctors that care not about lives but only money. But where would we be without?

I think that people don't understand that this is not the first time that electric and ICE vehicles were in major battle for market share. In the early 20th century, ICE and electric cars were both trying to gain popularity over horses. Infrastructure was easier to build out for ICE engines and greater range was achievable more easily but electric was cleaner and nicer to drive. We all know that ICE won out. And so development of electric stalled for almost 80 years. Electric has come a LONG way in the past two decades without major investment into development or infrastructure. With all of the big companies getting behind it, we are going to see even more development and advancement and very quickly. I'm not opposed to electric. But we have a ways to go before we will see it replace ICE completely. Here is my personal take on what needs to happen for that day to arrive. 1. Infrastructure/range. People aren't going to be opposed to adding an hour to a long distance trip. But they are going to need those stations to be on their route and not have to majorly alter a route to get there. I put range in here because it goes hand in hand. The fewer stops you need to make, the better. Back on the time thing, sure, you can fill up for your daily commute in 5 minutes. But traveling with family on long distance trips, that's rarely a 5 minute stop. It's a 15 or twenty minute stop for the women and kids to go to the bathroom and buy some drinks and snacks. 2. Repair costs. If you kill an engine in most modern vehicles, you can usually buy good parts for $1500ish on average. Pay a shop for install and we are talking about three to five thousand installed. That engine was likely good for 200,000 miles plus if you did proper maintenance. Battery replacement needs to be similar. If that means that a battery is good for 100,000 miles, it needs to be 1500-2500 installed, so that over the same mileage, the same amount of repairs cost similar. As long as EVs are more expensive to repair over the life, they are going to have a hard time completely killing ICE vehicles. Europe has already put mandates in place for no new ICE vehicle sales by a certain date (I think its 2030 or 2035). Most of the major manufacturers sell in Europe too so they will be shifting a majority of their US market production to electric. Unless you are 75 or older, it's likely to happen in your lifetime that you cannot go to a new car dealer in the US and buy an ICE vehicle.

I bought a Rottweiler puppy many years ago when it was about 9 weeks old. That puppy did NOT like men. He was skiddish around me for awhile, but he got to the point that he would only show affection to me and not any other man. I can't imagine abusing a puppy enough in 9 weeks that it acted that way.

Give her time, love and security and you'll have a true friend for life. She looks like a nice pup who has probably experienced some terrible things. I hope you can get her calmed down a bit and get her to a vet. She will certainly need heartworm and tick prevention. Oh, major props on taking her in!

She actually played a little bit this morning. I brought her a racquetball, bounced it on the driveway a bit, then tossed it for her. She tossed it around a bit herself, but got tired pretty quickly. I could tell she wanted to be friendly this morning, she bounced back and forth and even put a paw on her head, but still won't let me pet her. My wife and I sat on the deck and she got close enough to sniff at my wife's shoes. I'm pretty sure she'll come around.

Hydrogen vehicles have been around for years. The problem with them will continue to be storing enough Hydrogen for reasonable range in a manner safe enough to make people comfortable.

I agree with this. I think he was wrong to be there and brought the engagement upon himself but I also think he was defending himself.

Yeah, she eats like she's been starved, too! Actually, this afternoon she slowed down a little and actually left some kibble in the bowl. I think she was dehydrated, too. She's showing a bit more energy today than she did at first. I'm fairly sure she has fleas, as she bites at herself quite bit, but I can't do anything about that until she lets me touch her. I ordered a dog house for her. I can see that her adopting me is going to cost four or five hundred bucks by the time I get her shots and have her spayed, if she's not already.

Springfield has better variety, match grade barrels & lots of better features. Good trigger too.

EVs are going to be the CFLs of the light bulb world. Too many issues. Too few recharging stations for long mileage trips. The future will be hydrogen vehicles. Toyota just managed to get 845 miles from a single fueling of a car. Granted it was under a perfect set of circumstances, but, still way further than an EV could do. Day before yesterday I woke up to find a skinny, collarless dog sitting on my porch looking pretty miserable. Soft hearted (of soft headed) that I am, I fed her and I suppose she figures that's an invitation to move in. One of my neighbors is a hound hunter, and he stopped by and told me that he'd seen this dog 15 miles away in the Catoosa a day before she showed at my place, and he identified her as a Mountain Cur. He conjectures that some hunter was dissatisfied with her for whatever reason, and took off her collar and set her on her own. What a scum bag, if that's true! She seems pretty calm and friendly, but she's also very cautious. She'll gently take food from my fingers, but won't let me touch her. Unless I'm offering food she stays five or six feet away. We've gone for a couple of woods walks, and she'll stay right with me, keeping that few feet of distance. So... for the dog lovers among you who might know something about curs: Is there anything more I can do to get her to trust me? I sit and talk with her, and she walks with me wherever I go outside, but she's shy. She doesn't cower at all, but she moves away if I try to get close. Is there a way to tell if she's been spayed? Is it common to spay hunting dogs around here? Does this breed generally make a good pet? We have indoor cats, and this dog will live outside, and there are no kids around. And we're on 20 acres, so she has a bit of space. The good news is that she's not pooped on my lawn yet, so that's one big check mark in her favor!

Because of all the flue talk, in our area, I went and took a flue shot this morning. I don't want to be sick during the holidays if I can prevent it. I seem to get everything I get close to and we got a lot of family coming in for the holidays. Three of my extended family have colds, at present, so I decide to err on the safe side if possible.

It's quite possible it was setup for "bottlecap shooting". Guys did all kinds of things to those guns to help with cold bore flyers, etc. The back boring concept has been used a lot in different scenario's. One of the most common is using it as a way to 'tune' a rifle. There are a ton of 52's and 40x's out there. If you want one, you can certainly find a nice one if you keep your eye out. That being said, it may be worth shooting it and see how it does. Price would be important factor of course and depending on the condition of the Unertl it will also play a big factor.

I ordered a new Ford Maverick truck a couple of months ago. It is in transit and should be here next week. I could have ordered it in a hybrid that gets 42 MPG. I paid $1,100.00 extra to get it with a standard gasoline engine instead of the hybrid. I expect that one day electric automobiles will be the norm but at 70 years of age, I doubt that I will be here to see that day. I think electric cars are still very much in the experimental stage and I will let someone else do the experimenting.

An electric motor can put the power to the wheels, quickly. I think this will be a great option in the very near future. I say this being pretty old-school when it comes to cars . I still drive manual transmission cars and love to wind the gears out.
