  1. Pre covid price on 1000 primers was around $40 so $100 is very high in my opinion .

  2. So I switched to a Glock 48 a while ago. I like the slim frame and with the Shield Arms mags you can carry 15+1. Another TGO member had a G48 MOS for sale and I ended up doing a trade with him. I just picked up a Holosun 407 and got it mounted. With the 407 mounted it would almost fit but not quite my current IWB kydex holster. Got the dremel out and did a little work to the kydex and now my holster hold both of my G48's. I need to get some range time shooting with the holosun. Once I get accustomed to shooting with the rds it will become my new carry gun.

  3. Several reasons, actually. 1) Women claim men "never listen". Here's actual proof. 2) The ONLY gun mfgr that has a female CEO is one of THE most reactive to their buying base. 3) CZ USA has come from being a rare, communist-owned gun mfgr to a small importer to one of THE largest gun sellers in the USA. All because they listen to their buyers.

  4. Cheap imports of aks mass produced decades ago by communist governments have been pretty much shut off. Now you are in a place where aks are made mostly by commercial producers. What most people don’t know is that the AK is actually not a cheap gun to produce. It takes quite a bit of tooling and machining to make.

  5. Hope S&W gets your pistol repaired soon. I have a Springfield Armory pistol that required a trip for warranty repair. SA promptly sent a shipping label, repaired and returned the 10 year old gun in under two weeks. This is the reason SA fills much of the space in my safe.

  6. No. The P10C package started out at $700. The moderators and I can see the edit history of the thread.

  11. Jeff was at Republic Forge. What's odd is that Republic Forge was in Texas, was sold to someone else who moved it to either New Mexico or Arizona or something like that, and I'd heard that Jeff wanted to stay put in Texas so he didn't move with them. But, I just searched and it seems that Republic Forge is back in Texas again... so I dunno.

  13. Yes, they work - but let's calibrate our definitions, first. What they minimize is muzzle rise. A compensator reduces muzzle rise by jetting gasses upward, countering muzzle rise to some degree. In order to counter recoil, which is to say the rearward push of the firearm, a brake minimizes recoil by jetting combustion gasses to the rear and sides. A good example of a brake in action is the enormous chevron brake on the Barrett M82-A1 rifle. Back to this topic, it's common for a well-tuned comp to offset about 10-15% of a handgun's muzzle rise. It depends on several factors including the powder charge of the round being fired. This is my Glock G45 (9mm) running a Parker Mountain Machine comp. The comp definitely works and the gun tracks fairly flat, especially when shooting hotter rounds. I saw that new Sig P365XL Spectre Comp for the first time just earlier today and it absolutely piqued my interest.

  14. Not priced a Colt or Ruger revolver lately? And S&W revolvers work quite well.

  17. I think it would be beneficial if somehow someone in management at Smith and Wesson could receive a link to this thread and read it. I’m not much into semi autos, but will never buy a new Smith and Wesson revolver as long as they insist on installing those damn locks on them. The prices being paid today for the old revolvers are an indication I’m not the only one who thinks this. I hope you get your pistol back soon and it is repaired to your satisfaction.

  21. For a semi, I agree. Their revolvers are still seemingly well-made with minimal issues, or at least I don't hear about them like I do their semi's. As for their marketing efforts, I can say I don't blame them. The handgun world is highly, highly competitive. Imports are killing the US mfgrs in the semi-auto side of things. Sadly, too much of the buying public is swayed with slick advertising versus gun knowledge or closely examining the gun before buying it. FN is a good example of minimal marketing, IMO. You rarely see their ads other than a couple of gun rags. Yet their guns are among the most accurate & well-made out there. Yet they still lag well behind almost every other major US gun mfgr in terms of sales. Agree or disagree, it's the truth. While experienced gun owners use ads as a means of discovering a new model, I doubt we get swayed by the ad if the gun is merely average (or worse). The ad I loathe the most is the tacticool guy with the wrap around shades who is "guarding" his wife in an urban setting. It tugs at the emotions rather than showing how their gun performs better. And isn't performance the entire reason we buy a specific gun? Maybe one day a gun guy will once again be running S&W & can unscrew their warranty repair department?

  22. Adding another data point to the subject of bad quality control, I stopped by Sportsman's Warehouse today and asked to see one of these new Compact 2.0 optics-ready models. Take-up in the trigger was rough, like there was sand in it. That's easily fixed, but should not be there on a brand new gun!

  23. Hard to believe the sheriff hadn't had his jail scoped out for escape avenues? Someone should catch a suspension over that, IMO.

  24. And not that hard to get. When I got mine 7 years ago I think it took 10 days. If you already have a permit from another state it is good for 6 months.

  25. You need two things for a home range: backstop & noise abatement. Backstop can easily be done by backing your range up against a hill/mountain. This will easily eat up any off-target rds that might slide off target. Noise is a mixed bag. If you shoot suppressors, that will take care of that. Otherwise you're gonna need distance/acreage. I would imagine 12-15 acres at a minimum for noise in order to be a good neighbor. Hopefully your neighbor(s) won't be yankee gun-haters. This is easily found in the Chatt/Knoxville areas. West TN is much, much flatter. So the acreage will need to be doubled, IMO. Since you're a work-at-home guy, this allows a lot more options for property. I'm not a cable guy, but I would imagine any property close to a major highway (not interstate, highway) would have easy access to cable internet? This is where a realtor will help a lot. The lesser costly land will be found in the triangle between Chattanooga, Knoxville & Cookeville, IMO. Lost of rural areas, lotsa farms & so forth. Plenty of hills for backstops, IOW. The closer you get to Middle TN, the more expensive it's going to get until you get south of Columbia, TN. The counties bordering Alabama will be less costly, IOW. You don't mention kids, jobs for the wife, recreation desires, etc. Fill out some of those details & we can probably help you out a little better?

I really like the standard black birdshead but when I saw these wood grips, I had to get it. Model 2030. Came with the leather Desantis holster too. Good Luck!!

  38. This is a post from the RangeMaster forum.....fyi.....not the way it is suppose to work Robert G. Vogel 14h · Had a very close call in New York City last night. Most all of us that have flown much with guns have heard the same things…… don’t fly to or even through specifically NYC with guns. I was flying to LA from Ohio, was supposed to connect in Dallas. That got canceled so it was either connect in JFK airport or not make it and miss the class. I thought it’s just a connection, i’m not getting my bag so let’s see what happens. I boarded the flight (American Airlines) and my seat was in the very back. Everybody’s boarded when they called my name over the loudspeaker as two agents came and told me I needed to leave the plane. As I walked off the plane I was told the TSA agents were coming to talk to me as “weapons” were found in my bag and that was a real problem. Mind you I declared my weapons in Columbus OH and signed the proper forms as I’ve done many many times without issue…… and they knew my connection was at JFK. Long story short I am still technically a reserve/auxiliary police officer and I still have a badge…… they made it sound like they were letting me squeak by. If it wasn’t for that I would have missed my flight, been arrested and it would have cost me A LOT of money…….(I truly think it’s a racket for mainly that reason) What’s weird in my mind is how New York City seems to be so unique for this……. So many other big cities I’ve flown to or through many times with no issue…….but NYC is apparently a different animal. I had heard this before of course but now I have a first-hand account…… i’m guessing some of you guys have stories too…… but I had to put this out there.

  41. A man and his wife are awakened at 3:00 a.m. by a loud pounding on the door. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push. “Not a chance,” says the husband, “it is 3:00 in the morning!” He slams the door and returns to bed. “Who was that?” asked his wife. “Just some drunk guy asking for a push,” he answers. “Did you help him?” she asks. “No, I did not, it’s 3 a.m. in the morning and it’s pouring out there!” “Well, you have a short memory,” says his wife. “Can’t you remember about three months ago when we broke down, and those two guys helped us? I think you should help him.” The man does as he is told, gets dressed, and goes out into the pounding rain. He calls out into the dark, “Hello, are you still there?” “Yes,” comes back the answer. “Do you still need a push?” calls out the husband. “Yes, please!” comes the reply from the dark. “Where are you?” asks the husband. “Over here on the swing,” replies the drunk.
