Most of us raise our kids and tell them to be capitalist, but we give them everything without requiring them to work for it. Capitalism = good Socialism = bad We raise them in Socialism. We tell them they are special. Everyone gets a trophy. No bullying ever. They get older and realize that their not special. They have to work to get what they want and the first time they fail or someone says bad things to them, they can't cope. This is our fault as a society. We need to let them fail when they're 5 years old. We need to teach them how to deal with people that say bad things. That's the problem. We have to fix it and that's someone else's job. We are too busy for that nonsense.7 points

Somebody's tinfoil hat is way too tight. There's no question that the victim disarmament lobby will use this tragedy to their advantage, but asserting that the government planned this is getting into the Alex Jones region of insanity. Whisper6 points

Then you are extremely fortunate if that’s actually the case. Many folks vastly overestimate how much mental health coverage they really have until they find the need to make use of it. Most health insurance provides very little to no coverage for mental health. My wife and I are dealing with this issue now as she is wanting to pursue therapy that has been long put off and is still holding off because of the expenses involved are very difficult to make work. (We have a heavy load of medical expenses related to two of our kids being in therapy for sensory processing issues.) Hell, I’m probably going to be selling a few guns to help defray those costs. That’s not a “woe is me” tale, but simply saying you’re being awfully glib about a subject that is a major concern and struggle for a lot of folks. You’re speaking from either a place of great privilege or ignorance or just maybe even a little of both.5 points

Actual problem is mental illness, Very hard to address. A solution would be to put more armed individuals in the schools to protect the unarmed innocent ones.5 points

Just saw Biden's speech. Naturally he went after the "Gun Lobby". It ain't about guns. Its about the breakdown of our society and the loss of moral values. No new law will fix that.4 points

Kid in drag doesn't appear to be the shooter, but the parallels to Sandy Hook are striking, seems like the grandmother, like Lanza's mother, had worked for the school according to some articles. I don't think him ending up there was a coincidence, more than likely he meant to end up there. He was engaged at the entrance, by one, then two additional LEOs, but he outgunned the first, at the door, and went in. How we can afford to send a foreign country billions yet not spend anything to fortify our schools is mind numbing. We need to be like Israel and train and arm our teachers to be the final line of defense against these nut jobs. How do you think we should pay for mental health services then? We know it's not affordable for the avg joe. Bring back the insane asylums!3 points

Because government is NOT the answer. We have this problem because of government and a breakdown in society.3 points

GI got this email earlier. It’s very nice but I’m not for sure why it has been given the “new” label? Anyone know what the ‘Elite’ aspect carries with it? I’m honestly curious to know. ThanksMor ris ( Sent from ProtonMail for2 points

Young fella, you have every right to hold this opinion, or any other one for that matter, but, if you want to have people respect your ideas, what you should strive for is to qualify your statements with the factual evidence that you used to reach your opinion. Many people in this age have strong opinions to share, but very seldom do you hear how they got there. This statement that you made earlier would be a very irresponsible thing to put into circulation if you cannot back it up with factual evidence. I think you will find that you are in the company of some extremely well informed and intelligent Tennesseans (myself excluded, obviously) who know a thing or two about our government, and may not appreciate here-say…which is basically a statement that makes an assertion yet lacks the evidence to confirm whether or not it’s the truth. Look, please don’t think that I’m picking on you here, because I am not. Rather, I’m trying to give you some helpful advice. Making a claim like the one that you made is akin to what is being fed to the misinformed every waking hour from the corrupt news media in this country. Thanks to social media, non-events are flamed into conflagrations in no time flat because we are living in a time where people simply react in a knee jerk fashion rather than take the time to find out whether something is true or not. Sometimes, God forbid, innocent people get hurt. This is tragic. What if some day in the future you work for an employer who bids on, say, a government contract? Perhaps this contract requires you to obtain a clearance to work on a sensitive piece of equipment. When those fact finders dig into your life (and they most certainly will), a statement where you publicly go on record and blame the government for a heinous act such as the one perpetrated by that disturbed young man will not be to your advantage. When we hit ‘send’, our words go out into cyberspace and you can’t simply reel it back in. Do I agree with that? No, no I do not. Everyone has said things, thought things, even done things that they regret as soon as it happens (myself very much included!). People change, opinions change, people grow, mature, become wiser, smarter and to judge someone’s lifelong merits based on a tweet or text is the definition of insanity…but these are the times we are living in, unfortunately. These terrible events are not going to go away. They are here to stay and they’ll keep getting worse because the die has been cast and there’s no turning back. We as a nation have collectively turned our back on the only One who could possibly right this sinking ship. Professing to be wise, we’ve become as fools. It is far too late to save this country but, thankfully, people can still be SAVED. Brothers, if you want to understand why these things are happening, just search the Scriptures. Solomon (who has the distinction of being the wisest mortal to have ever lived) wrote “there is nothing new under the sun”. Think about that for a minute….all the ‘advances’ our society has made…the technology, even! It’s nothing new, only packaged differently is all. It was Paul the Apostle who reminded/warned us in Ephesians Chap 6 and verse 12 that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”. Just in case anyone isn’t familiar with “principalities, powers, and rulers”, those are different ranks, or classes of wicked supernatural entities that serve the (little g) god of this world, also known as “the Prince of the Power of the Air” - our Adversary, Satan and this is all his doing. This domain is his until Christ returns to take it from him. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.2 points

Reduced from $1900 to $1600 for quick sale. Found something else I want. The Original Henry Rifle is virtually identical to its history-making forerunner in all aspects. The only exception: it is a .44-40 caliber. The 1860 version was made in caliber .44 Rimfire, also invented by Benjamin Tyler Henry, but long an obsolete cartridge. Every other facet remains true to its inventor, and each gun’s serial number begins with the initials BTH in his honor. Model Number: H011 Action Type: Lever Action Caliber: .44-40 Capacity: 13 + 1 Length: 43 in. Barrel Length: 24 in. Weight: 9 lbs. Stock: Fancy American Walnut Buttstock with Hardened Brass Buttplate Sights: Folding Ladder Rear Blade Front Finish: Hardened Brass Receiver with Blued Steel Barrel Great condition. Will include some ammunition. No box $1600 Can meet within 50 miles1 point

Amen to the last 2 paragraphs. It's a Godlesss Society we live in or as you said a society being run by the adversary. Satan has taken over and theres no way god is happy looking down at all the things going on. I'm not necessarily talking about this event here as much as all the other crap going on in the country. He is a vengeful God and people need to get to know him quick, I'm not sure how much time we have left. i'll be on that narrow path right there with you JD.1 point

Seems like I heard a while back that they were expecting to be in production early to mid 2023, but I’m not certain if that particular firearm will be among the first produced…heck I don’t even know what all the plant will produce at all, now that I open my big flapper! Is it like automotive where they have several factories that each one produces a few products or how it works. I, too, would like to know that.1 point

This is a popular claim but it's not true. Teachers are not typically armed in Israel but they do have armed guards. We've seen 3-4 mass shootings now where even having police on scene did not stop the shooting. Parkland, Pulse Nightclub, Santa Fe, and now this school. I love the idea of more SRO's though.1 point

This incident is about as close to a copycat act as I have heard about. Take a look back at Sandy Hook and then look at this one. Adam Lanza shot and killed his mother before going to the school and this punk shot his grandmother before going to the school. Is there any comparison between the 2?........JMHO1 point

I agree, but what is the actual problem? I don't understand what drives people to keep doing this. That's why coming up with any sort of solution seems so unlikely.1 point

Kind of piggy backing onto what Hozzie said, if you don’t own any saws at all and are only buying one at the moment then a good skill saw (some places call it a circular saw) would be my first purchase. I have the sliding version of the Dewalt compound miter saw that you linked, and I love it. I’ve only ever used the compound bevel for trim, mainly crown. I’ve redone 3 decks so far this year, and I honestly use my Dewalt Skill Saw more than anything else. I use the miter saw for most angle cuts, but most cuts in deck work are straight cuts on deck boards and joist boards, and for those it’s much more efficient to do it with the skill saw using a carpenters square as a guide. It gets time consuming climbing down or walking over to your miter saw location for each cut on a deck board. Depending on the deck size, you can sometimes attach all your boards, chalk a line and use the skill saw to perfectly cut your hangover, which is the only way I’ve found to make them perfectly match. If you do go with a full blown miter saw look into the sliding model and definitely get a good stand. Also, once you burn through the first blade for any of your saws look into the Diablo blades (red). I like everything about the Dewalt blades except the price, the Diablos are usually cheaper and as good if not better.1 point

Got a few more things in the mail for it. 4 more HK 30rnd. mags, and a HOLSUN 510 that I just installed still need to put in the new flat trigger pack I bought a couple of weeks ago. Once I get that installed I'm heading to the range and try it out.1 point
