  1. I firmly believe that forcing a woman to carry a child conceived by rape or incest is cruel and unusual punishment for something they didn't want. I also believe that if a woman is going for that exception then they must file a complaint against the man. That way they can't simply claim something to get an abortion.

  2. We lost our Dad on December 5 last year. Back in 1972 my brother and Dad were selling donuts for the Scouts. Ran up on a man selling raffle tickets for a rifle. A deal was made, Dad bought a ticket and the man bought a box of donuts. Well the man called and Dad had won. My Dad never liked firearms so the rifle was put for a a few years. When I got older we would beg to get the rifle out and shoot. I moved off and had a family as well as my brothers and sister. The rifle was put up and forgot about. My brother got the rifle and asked me to get some ammo up so we could shoot. Well being a hand loader I had some cast and powder coated lead. Found the brass, dies and went to loading some up. On Fathers day this year my brother gave me the rifle. He and our other brother had talked about giving it to me for Fathers Day. We shot it for the first time in 35 years or more. This past Saturday my son and myself went to OK Corral to shoot. Here are is the target, now it is hard for me to see that well with iron sights, but I will say I did think I did just fine with a 50 year old rifle and my 63 year old eyes and untested loads. The hits in the red are off a rest to get crono numbers, the rest are seated off hand. The rifle has some age and a few "beauty marks".

  4. Great story! Just a tip tho, that year put the gun in close enough time to check the follower. If its blued stamping, it could fail with any kind of use. Winchester's replacement was an excellent in the white casting that was far more heavy duty than the brittle blued stampings. Maybe you won't shoot it much but if you do, wont be a bad idea to have a good upgrade spare if it indeed has the cheap one in it.

  5. I think to continue this thread the topic needs to stay on the discussion of state/federal powers and not on abortion rights, etc.

  6. In many cases, regardless of what side of the aisle a policritter happens to sit on, abortion is a loser of an issue and most want to avoid it at all costs. As with many of the "hot button" issues, it's much better (from an election standpoint) to be able to rail against laws you know are unlikely to ever get changed than to actually have to make decisions regarding enforcement or other actions relevant to the issue at hand. It's also a lot easier to raise money by opposing positions your constituency finds objectionable than by defending laws they agree with ...

  24. The state likely should be taking the lead on these kinds of cases, but they can very logically be done at a county level as well. Where Funk may have made an error was going for the PR win with what he said. He would have a lot of cover if he said something akin to he would consider any legal action available, but as a DA, he has to prioritize based on how he assesses the best use of resources in serving the community. That would be a read between the lines way to signal that he wasn't going to push an abortion prosecution, but plausible enough since Metro Nashville has way bigger fish to fry in the courts given the crime. That kind of discretion is easy to second guess, but the authority for it is clear. This is a self-correcting issue if the political will exists, however. District Attorney's who are elected can be recalled (if the mechanism exists), and lose their next election. In this case, Funk is very likely aligned with the majority of voters who have him on their ballots, so in this example, the political will is absent. But recourse being in and through the people is a lot better than the alternatives. The state can leverage resources to prompt action as well. I'm sure there is some grant money, or something that can be taken off the table if they tweak the laws that authorize it enough. But that would mean the state legislature would want the fight. They always seem more interested in early adjournments than principled stands like that, so don't get your hopes up.

  26. Guess we really shouldn't be surprised at selectively "ignoring/supporting" certain laws. Bunch of us tend to get upset when "changes" don't go along with what we support. Maybe we should really be upset when there are break downs in order of rule of law . I remember some really good conversations years ago when Colorado became the 1st state to legalize marijuana although that violated federal law. Most that supported legalization were not upset, most that did not support thought it was horrible. Many states have followed that same mindset and that ideology has filtered down from state to local in many situations.

  28. What folks may or may not do on a hypothetical day in the future is one thing but it is explicitly against the TOS to solicit or promote engaging in illegal activity. Outside of being against the rules, openly talking about breaking the law (even if the law in question is a bunch of BS) is stupid and asking for needless trouble. In the interest of the wellbeing of any dogs that may live or even just be in the general vicinity of your house, I’m locking this thread. We’re done here.

  29. I posted this back in November of 2021 but the day after I posted it a family member died and with everything that was going on I kind of just forgot about it. This is a M1 garand in really good condition my grandfather purchased after he got back from the Korean war. The rifle is in great condition for its age. Price is $1200 firm. These are getting harder to find especially in this condition.

  30. I’d be willing to bet my last dollar, in this day and time, you will not find anyone to do this for you. As it would be considered building a firearm that does not have a serial number it does not belong to the builder.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Larry Storch, the rubber-faced comic whose long career in theater, movies and television was capped by his “F Troop” role as zany Cpl. Agarn in the 1960s spoof of Western frontier TV shows, died Friday. Storch was 99. Storch died of natural causes early Friday in his New York City apartment, according to his manager, Matt Beckoff. Although “F Troop” lasted only two seasons on ABC, from 1965 to 1967, it became a cult favorite in reruns. Its devoted fans could recite almost all of the adventures of the incredibly incompetent soldiers of Fort Courage and the members of the nearby Native American tribe who only pretended to be at war with them. As Agarn, Storch was the wild-eyed partner and protege of Forrest Tucker’s wily Sgt. O’Rourke, who often schemed with Frank DeKova’s Chief Wild Eagle to fleece unsuspecting visitors. Ken Berry’s Capt. Parmenter was Fort Courage’s clueless commander. While “F Troop” brought him lasting fame, Storch appeared in scores of films and TV shows both before and after the show. He also enjoyed a long career in theater and as a comic at resorts in New York State’s Catskill Mountains area. He never regretted being best known for the series, his manager said. “He embraced it. He loved being Agarn” and relished working with his co-stars, said Beckoff. Storch was the “kindest, sweetest person," who always had time for autograph-seekers and was generous to people in need, he said. Storch's credits included “Funny Valentine,” “Sweet 16,” “Sex and the Single Girl,” “S.O.B.,” “Airport,” “Treasure Island” and “Oliver Twist.” On TV, he guest-starred on such shows as “Married... With Children,” “Archie Bunker’s Place,” “Trapper John, M.D.,” “Fantasy Island,” CHiPS,” “The Love Boat,” “Get Smart,” “Love American Style,” “Gilligan’s Island” and “Car 54 Where Are You?” His many theater appearances ranged from a brutal detective in a 1983 Broadway revival of “Porgy and Bess” to Chief Sitting Bull in the 2000 revival of “Annie Get Your Gun” with Reba McEntire. Storch said in a 1998 interview that he was surprised to be considered for an Army comedy such as “F Troop,” with it being well known that he served in the Navy during World War II. “All I knew about horses was that they give milk and can bite from both ends,” he quipped. Indeed, it was his Navy service that had greatly boosted his career. During the war, he had met a radio operator in the Marshall Islands named Bernie Schwartz who had told him, “I’m going to be a movie star.” Storch, already a seasoned comic on the resort circuit, had tried to talk him out of it, warning him that the business could be tough. They met again after the war, and Schwartz, who by now had changed his name to Tony Curtis, remembered the funny guy from the islands. Storch went on to appear in eight of Curtis’ movies, including “Captain Newman,” “Who Was That Lady?” and “The Great Race.” Laurence Samuel Storch was born in New York City where, he recalled proudly, he went on to become class clown at DeWitt Clinton High School and “was invited not to come back.” He practiced his comedy in Harlem theaters for $2 a night before graduating to the famed training ground for comedians of his era, the Catskills. His first big break came on TV in the early 1950s with “The Cavalcade of Stars,” with Jackie Gleason. That led to “The Larry Storch Show,” a 1953 summer series. Regular movie and TV work followed. Storch was married to Norma Greve from 1961 until her death in 2003.

TheLulz was already banned when you called for his banning, and "Looks like someone took the slow train from Philly" was a quote from The Office, although after posting the quote I remembered Angela didn't mean it the way it sounds (hint: it isn't inferring lack of intelligence/whit). It was a bad joke that I screwed up.
