I'm thinning the herd. Sold all my milsurps (except for my mint Springfield Garand w/ National Match barrel with a few thousand rounds of US-made ammo). While I enjoyed the milsurps from a historical perspective, I got tired of them, didn't shoot them, and kept them only to sell as investments which paid off in the last year. I've been dribbling out others, and only have about 3-4 more to go until I'm down to the ones I'll keep. I still have a Colt Police Positive and Chinese Paratrooper to sell, and maybe one of my East German Makarovs. A couple of antiques will remain until I find the right buyer as I'm not listing them publicly, I still am buying. Last week a new CZ P-01 at a $140 off retail, and am going to buy a couple more other guns this week for use as trade or profit. Trading and selling guns is fun. Most of the remaining guns have sentimental value as well as being good shooters. I'm taking my SD guns and getting new sights and plenty of SD ammo. I shoot all my guns regularly, enjoy keeping them maintained and looking good, and doing minor gunsmithing jobs when necessary. I've also gave away guns to those you can see enjoying them. It's a pleasure as you can envision them treasuring them as you did while you're alive to see it. Getting older gives you perspective that can't be described until you get there - then you know it. I do miss certain guns I traded or sold decades ago, but it's not regret. Sometimes things are so tied up in memories it's like Proust and his madeleines. Your hope is that those coming behind you will find their memories in their long, distant past that you helped them create. The Meprolights on my CZ75b and 97b have played out after 17 years and have dimmed too far to be of value for night work. Plus, a new CZ P-01 needs night sights too. I've been looking for some time and frankly, it's rather confusing to find the right sights as claims of 'this one is great' with the next fellow saying 'these are trash' are common. So after a lot of research, I've decided to buy one new sight, the Truglow TFX Pro Tritium and Fiber Optic Xtreme, install it myself and see how it goes. I'll put it on my 75b. Truglo TFX Pro Tritium and Fiber Optic If it works out, I'll get the same sight for my other CZ pistols. I hope it does as I like having the same sights on my guns as it makes it easier to go from one gun to another, particularly as these CZs feel the same in the hand. I've never used a fiber optic before so this gives me a chance to see if they work for me.

The problem with the judicial today is in most cases the charge does not fit the crime. This punk took another humans life during the commission of a crime and got charged with 2nd degree murder. It should have been 1st degree murder. Then we have all these bleeding heart liberals in position to grant pardons to criminals that don't deserve one regardless how hard the family of the victim fight to keep them locked upped. If a bad guy is sentenced to 10 years or 20 years they should serve everyday of the sentence.....JMHO

I disagree. Knowing the conditions that meet justification for a self-defense shooting before it happens helps you make the right decision. Not knowing can wind you up in jail, prison, broke, and without a viable future. The good news is those conditions that will make your shooting justified and easy to defend in court are not difficult to understand and apply. Like learning to shoot a firearm effectively takes practice, so too does learning and applying those justifiable conditions to your use of deadly force. Once you learn them, you can practice them on real world situations by seeing how and what others have done and you can see whether or not their shootings were justified. While self defense laws can and do vary across the states, the basic conditions remain the same for all of them. It's not necessary to learn the Tennessee law, then the Georgia law, then the North Carolina law. The same conditions apply to all of them. It's like having a car. Would you wait to learn how to drive until you're behind the wheel heading to Home Depot? Same with self defense.

Then buy it!!! LOL! Seriously, that's a great price for a peach of a carry pistol. If my arthritic hands could handle the 45...I'd have already bought this! And speaking of buying...let me tell you from multiple experiences with tercel89; you won't find a better man to deal with...with the possible exception of me! Really, I've made several purchases from him over our years here and always been extremely happy with them. And you'll get to meet of of the most upstanding members of this group when you do.

Every single citizen. I do lean a bit center to left on abortion. I mean I don’t give a hoot what other people do. As long as it don’t obstruct my pursuit of happiness! im quite a bit to the right on immigration. Why are we allowing more people in when we have folks living in the streets! We can’t take care of what we have! I like to think I lean closets to being free and allowing others to be free. I still vote for people not party’s. That’s the way we used to do it. My biggest have to is someone fairly honest. Politicians are by design dishonest. But I need them to know what reality is. But honestly until we can get politicians that have had to decide between paying for prescriptions or buying food then we will always get what we have always got. Can’t expect different if we don’t demand it.

Most people would be better off if they quit worrying about what others have, quit waiting around to be lifted up, be thankful for what they do have, and instead of plotting and praying for the downfall of someone better off than they are, maybe study the path that person took and what makes them tick and possibly learn how to be more successful themselves. What a novel concept.

I have a Sig P320 X-Compact RXP. Gun has only had a couple hundred rounds through it. It comes with Sig night sights, Romeo 1 Pro red dot with the shroud added. An additional large grip module cerekoted blue, a blue gun for training, 4 holsters (including a raven concealment), the tungsten grip weights, a TLR-7a and a total of five factory magazines. I have a black powder pistol along with everything needed for a range day with it, powder, ball, caps, cleaning supplies everything. The pistol is a Pietta 1851 confederate navy revolver. it has maybe 50 rounds through it otherwise it has been a safe queen. I additionally have a amish made black felt fedora and a reenactment esque knife as the last vestiges from my reenacting days I am selling along with it. I will attach pictures and I am more than willing to answer questions about the items individually however I will be selling the items as a complete set. I am looking for cash so no trades will be entertained. Nothing is wrong with any of the items included in this block so far as I am aware and again I am more than happy to answer questions or provide better pictures on request. For one thing I do keep excellent records. What it is, where it came from, what I paid and its current value. That way my sons will have good info to keep from getting screwed when the time comes. One thing I think I will do is print out this list and give a copy to each of my sons. They both like guns and enjoy shooting, but neither has ever gotten into it like I have, Then I'll ask them to mark whatever guns they particularly want. That will help me narrow down what to sell and what to keep. And it might help me decide about selling some of the others.

Same fun here, well one of them. Appreciate you wanting the best load. Have you ever made hardcast hbwc? I did cast bullets years ago, but the hollow base seemed to difficult. The factory hbwc were all fairly soft lead. That made sense as the idea is for the hollow base to expand and seal against the rifling during firing. At least for the normal loading.

Buffalo Bore makes a really hot .357 magnum 180 grain lead hard cast flat nosed round. That's what I load in my .357 when hiking in the Smokies. You might check to see if they sell a similar .38 +P cartridge.

Well it 0745, I've checked it 3 times already. But, I work hard and enjoy the atmosphere here. I have had worse habits!

Never shot the reversed wadcutters into gel, but in those days .38 special SD loads were rare, with many officers carrying round-nose for ease of reloading. My reversed wadcutters were probably closer to +p loads as they were strong in recoil and snappiness, but less than a 2' .357. At 10-15 yards they seemed to be accurate enough with a tendency to keyhole. I never had to shoot anyone with them, but I did believe they would do the trick. After checking around I'm going to try some of the hard-cast loads and some Honey Badger loads. I'm a fan of my Bodyguard as a good BU revolver, particularly in wintertime when I can have my hand on the gun in my pocket without drawing any attention and if necessary shoot through the pocket without hanging up as an auto might. Very much appreciate your comments on the FN HiPower. I'm really wanting the Springfield version, the SA35, at this point; but being the person that I am...I wouldn't rule out trying to acquire the FN as well. Funds a little tight at the moment, but I did foolishly buy the Girsan version last week. I haven't gotten the opportunity to fire it yet, but hope to very soon. I'll pass along my impressions when I do. BTW, I got the FDE model as well. Purchased from CDNN. Then they serve up the really nice looking version with better sights and VZ grips! Always something better AFTER you make a buy!

I wanted to bump this thread now that the new FN High Power is starting to hit the streets. My FFL managed to track down a couple at his distributor and I bought the FDE version. Price was near $1100. Mine came with plastic FDE grip panels installed, a spare pair of OD green grips, two 17 round mags, and a carrying case. The first thing you notice picking it up is that it doesn't feel much like a High Power. The grip feels longer, front-to-back, and flatter on the sides than the traditional BHP which has a real wasp waist shape by comparison. The trigger is very nice, mine breaks right at 4 pounds. The reset is shorter and crisper than any BHP trigger I have. The sights are serrated black and are easy to acquire and align. The thumb safety is ambi and much like the later BHP safeties, except crisper snapping on or off ( though still too light IMO ) and easier to get underneath to activate. Shooting was pleasant. I put about 100 rounds through it in a short range session. I had about two or three instances of premature slide lock with rounds in the mag, and I realized I was inducing it by accidentally pressing down on the forward end of the slide stop with a thumbs-forward grip. If you shoot with high thumbs pressed against the frame, you'll have to remember not to do it with this gun (or the front of the slide stop could be trimmed to remove the largely useless forward end, or replaced with an aftermarket part). Function was good otherwise and recoil was softer than in a traditional BHP. Accuracy was excellent, every bit as good as any other BHP I ever owned, and sights were very close to right on for my 124gr handloads. Hammer bite was nonexistent and not even close to happening from what I could tell, due to the rather small hammer spur and overall grip shape. Rapid reloads are a bit easier than on traditional BHPs because the new magazine design isn't as square as the old magazines. It's closer to a Beretta 92 or SIG P226 in shape. In fact, Beretta 92 mags will fit very nicely in the HP but won't lock in. I'm pleased with the redesign and look forward to spending a lot more time at the range with this one.

The roads in Knoxville are a mess. My neighborhood had at least 10 abandoned vehicles. I had to push a guy in a 2WD pickup earlier. I'll never own a 2WD truck. I went for a quick ride on the Sting earlier.

Government, regardless of what level from City to federal, is focused on headlines and the "popular" program of the day. Mostly liberal give away stuff. All in an effort to look good. Infrastructure has far too long been ignored and only gotten the meager left overs of an already wasted budget. Now its coming around to bite us on the ass. It won't be racism, climate change or any other perceived problem that does us in. Our nation will collapse under the weight of its own disregard for fundamental infrastructure. I fear it may already be too late to stop it.

I've been following this thread and honestly, I just don't know what to say. It seems that human life has no value anymore. Taking a life over petty theft? What does that say about us as a society? In this case, I hope all those terrible stories you hear about what happens to young, pretty boys in prison are true.

I suppose it depends on how you look at it. Lot of facets there. When I left the profession in 2010 the policy had changed from "get then back in the store by any means necessary" to "ask them politely to give back in the store and if they decline, get as much information as possible but let them go". I too would hate to see a society where it's acceptable to just walk out of a store with whatever you want. But our society has become so litigious that retailers have found that it's cheaper to let the merchandise walk. Of course the alternative is to lock up high risk merchandise. I hate going into a retail store more than about anything, but I especially hate the thought of having to track down a key holder to make a purchase. There are no winners here other than the thieves.

Hard cast is deeper penetrating than a hollow point - Not generally accepted for a self defense round due to over penetration and pass thru- I use hard cast for most of my target and range loads due to cost factor-I reload most everything I shoot-other than defensive rounds which I keep with good factory loads-

For me the original LCP is close to perfect as a pocket pistol....with the Nemesis holster. At times I will use a Versa Carry device for waistband carry....no pockets, or pocket too small. Can't speak to the other models.

I prefer the look, feel and shooting of hammer fired pistols. But new hammer guns are rare and the world is moving to striker and polymer pistols for several reasons. I enjoy shooting and buying new guns too much to stay with hammer only weapons. My favorite configuration of a da/sa, de-cocking, metal frame pistol feels like it is slowly becoming extinct.

You chose wisely. Reloading is not hard at all but it does require some attention to detail, like ensuring the powder charge remains constant along with bullet seating depth and crimping. Often the equipment needs to be tweaked during a session. It’s best to learn on a single stage rather than a progressive starting out.

I have two with rails. I didn't buy them for the rail, they just came that way. One does have a light on it and serves as my "house" gun. I'd never carry it as the light makes it bulky and awkward. Honestly, I prefer the light being separate from the pistol. But I do have it so what the hell? And once again a thread has been sidetracked from its original point by a completely unrelated discussion. Seems to be a bad habit around here.
