  1. This may sound odd, but I have a personality quirk that goes like this..... When I buy a gun or anything that I have a great interest in (ie. saddles, guns, knives, historic items, guitars, etc.) I never sell them. I frequently read on these threads a post that goes something like this: "Oh, I used to carry a (fill in the blank) and loved the way it shot and felt in my hand but I sold it. Sure wish I still had it." I completely understand that if a person needs the cash then they do what they have to do, but barring hard times, I just don't think I could sell any of the things I have accumulated. I will say that I don't just buy the latest and greatest or coolest thing coming down the pike. I do my research and determine if I really want it, but once I get it, it's pretty well there for keeps. As a result, I have quite a few toys laying around. Thankfully, I have a pretty large house, full basement, barn and outbuildings so I can store all of this stuff but I do hear my wife say, "How many saddles can you ride?" or "How many guns can you shoot?" Am I a hoarder???

  2. Yes, that was a tough one to sell. Obviously no maple leaf Canuck lovers down here. But in reality, it was a good shooter, especially off hand with the heavier octagon barrel. But I already had three other 30-30s ... so. Glad you have it. Shoot the heck out of it and keep the mileage off that pretty .32.

  3. First it should be noted that as a state, we are governed by our Constitution. Article 1 Section 1 of our Declaration of Rights: That all power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their peace, safety, and happiness; for the advancement of those ends they have at all times, an unalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform, or abolish the government in such manner as they may think proper. Section 2: That government being instituted for the common benefit, the doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power and oppression is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind. ARTICLE II. Distribution of Powers. Section 1. The powers of the government shall be divided into three distinct departments: legislative, executive, and judicial. Section 2. No person or persons belonging to one of these departments shall exercise any of the powers properly belonging to either of the others, except in the cases herein directed or permitted. Section 3. The legislative authority of this state shall be vested in a General Assembly, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives, both dependent on the people. ARTICLE III. Executive Department. Section 1. The supreme executive power of this state shall be vested in a governor Section 10. He shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed. Section 11. He shall, from time to time, give to the General Assembly information of the state of the government, and recommend for their consideration such measures as he shall judge expedient. The General Assembly has sole authority to decide which measure shall pass from the General Assembly, after debate and consideration and a vote in both chambers. Article 3 Section11 enables the governor to make suggestions to the GA about issues that office considers "expedient". Those issues, called "Administration bills" are carried by the Leader of both houses, currently that is William Lamberth in the House and Jack Johnson in the Senate and as such that provision of the Constitution is adhered to. (a side note, the so called Constitutional Carry bill of 2020 was an Administration bill) What does not appear in the Constitution or in our TCA Code, is any provision allowing the Departments under the control of the governor to assume a position of power over the legislative branch. For decades I have watched as the Department of Safety and the TBI have exerted pressure as envoys of the governor to deny good, restorative bills passage in our General Assembly. Old hands will remember Colonel Trott, the head of THP testifying against handgun carry permits in committee. Currently the Department of Safety's "Legislative Director" Elizabeth Stroeker brings her "philosophical opposition" to any bill that loosens the strangle hold of government on our 2nd and 14th Amendment rights. One only needs to watch any of the Civil Justice and Criminal Justice committee hearing from last year dealing with 2nd Amendment issues to see the validity of my point. I contend that going forward, any testimony by these Departments that does anything other than answer questions as to the cost of difficulty of administering any law passed, if that testimony serves to defeat the issue is in fact an act of "Official Oppression" as defined in TCA 39-16-403: TCA Part 4 - Misconduct Involving Public Officials and Employees 39-16-403 - Official oppression. 39-16-403. Official oppression. (a) A public servant acting under color of office or employment commits an offense who: (1) Intentionally subjects another to mistreatment or to arrest, detention, stop, frisk, halt, search, seizure, dispossession, assessment or lien when the public servant knows the conduct is unlawful; or (2) Intentionally denies or impedes another in the exercise or enjoyment of any right, privilege, power or immunity, when the public servant knows the conduct is unlawful. (b) For purposes of this section, a public servant acts under color of office or employment if the public servant acts, or purports to act, in an official capacity or takes advantage of the actual or purported capacity. (c) An offense under this section is a Class E felony. (d) Charges for official oppression may be brought only by indictment, presentment or criminal information; provided, that nothing in this section shall deny a person from pursuing other criminal charges by affidavit of complaint. [Acts 1989, ch. 591, § 1; 1990, ch. 980, § 11.] These Departments are peopled with attorneys, paid by the tax payer (although the tax payer has no input in their hiring or direction of duties). They should be cognizant of the edits and ruling of SCOTUS, it is why they are paid. In 2010 the Supreme Court of the United States incorporated the 2nd Amendment against the States through the due process clause of the 14th Amendment, making the 2nd a Civil Right. The Governor is surrounded by employees that we fund and he directs that should know the facts regarding our right to arms. SCOTUS says we have an unfettered right to carry on our person, open or concealed, in public, firearms in case of confrontation and yet from 1801 to date is has been and continues to be a crime for a non-criminal Tennessee citizen to do so. (TCA 39-17-1307 (a) (1), it is an offense to bear a firearm with the intent to go armed). I for one am tired of paying Lobbyist to testify against and deny my 2nd and 14th Amendment rights. The Department of Safety and the TBI as arms of the governor's office should simply faithfully execute the laws of the state, not try to make them.

  5. SOLD Early Iver Johnson Champion 12ga Made between 1909-1920. Refurbished. Repaired a couple cracks in the stock, touched up the bluing, and tru oiled the stock. Came out pretty nice. Has a pretty good ding in the stock. I steamed it several times but couldn’t totally remove it. Gun is functional. It would make an excellent wall hanger, but you could shoot it. $100 or will trade for a Steamlight TLR 7 or another gun/project Spring Hill or Franklin

  9. What many fail to realize and is always worth repeating, is you don't shoot to kill - you shoot to stop the threat. Once the threat is stopped, you stop shooting. Never say 'that you shot to kill' as that will be a prosecutor's ace to play at your trial. That will help keep you out of a very difficult position should (and most likely) you are charged with manslaughter at the least, and second degree murder at the worst. The shooter was in a strong legal position until he appeared to fire the coup de grace.

  10. I sold my 2017 F150 King Ranch Crew Cab and no longer need the safe I installed in the back under the seat. Super heavy duty full length safe will hold several long guns, multiple handguns, or other valuables. Quick access combo lock. Securely bolts to the frame via existing truck bolts. Easy 10" install. Like new. Few external scratches from my garage floor. It's about 75lbs and heavy steel. Pickup in Brentwood or Smithville area. Here is a link to the manufacturer for specifics. https://www.lockerdown.com/i-50-model-ld3025-2009-2022-f150-and-2017-2022-super-duty-f250-f350-f450-crew-cab-under-seat-long-gun-safe.html?ref=category:12 4

  11. I have a 6mm ARC AR It have around 50 rounds through it and is has just started shooting below an inch but sure it will improve more with a longer break in. It is built with on Aero M4-E1 upper and lower with an Aero bolt carrier group. It has an E.A. Brown 24 inch stainless steel barrel with a 1-7.5 inch twist rate to stabilize the heaviest .243 caliber bullets. I think the Hornady 103 grain ELD-X bullets shot best so far with a 3/4 inch group. It has a Geissele 15 inch MK8 Mlok rail and the Geissele Super Single Precision (SSP) trigger and the Geissele charging handle. Luth-AR adjustable rifle buttstock Hogue pistol grip and 4 boxes of Hornady 105gr HPBT bullets. 13. I was replying to @tacops who said he installed PVC vent pipe for his neighbor's dryer. Not a great idea. @Snaveba I understood what you meant with the 2" as a stick for the shop vac to clean out the ceiling cavity. Good plan.

  15. My neighbor asked me to look at his dryer vent because his clothes weren't getting dry. He gave me a blank look when I asked where his exhaust was and had he cleaned it. I crawled into his crawlspace and found that the builder had run 4 " flex tube from below the laundry room to the back wall of his foundation. (Almost 20 Ft.). It had formed condensation in the tube causing it to sag from the water collection, which in turn caught all the lint, causing more accumulation of weight until fully blocked. I ripped out this flex tube and installed a PVC vent pipe. No more sagging and his clothes dried really fast.

  17. Flex tube will sag if it is not resting on a hard surface over time, and will become brittle as well. Mom started complaining that her dryer was working as well as it had, so I crawled under the house to see what was up. Mom had the flex tube under the floor/in the crawl space for 28 yrs, never cleaned out. (My bad) The majority of the length of the flex tubing was pretty well full of lint as a couple of the original straps holding the tubing up broke over time, and the lint started building up in the flex tubing where it started sagging from the broken hanger straps, which basically blocked the dryer vent over time, good reason for the dryer not be functioning properly. When I crawled under the house, saw what had happened with the support straps/hangers, and tried to disconnect the flex tubing to clean it out. The flex tubing just crumbled in my hands, so we had metal tubing installed in the same path, but with adequate hangers/supports. Metal tubing makes it much easier to clean the vent tubing out on a periodic basis.

  22. I watched this and it has some in-depth analysis on the final shot that was fired. To me, this isn't a good look for the good guy. That last shot could be construed as more retributive than self defense. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out...

  24. I sorely miss several of the few things I have sold. Once I finally got into a financial position where I didn’t really need to sell anything, I pretty much stopped. I can also say the older I get, the less I buy. I guess I have pretty much everything I ever wanted.

  29. We hired the inspector, not the seller. He did catch other issues like I mentioned. It's well known that a home inspector will never catch every issue. I lived here 1.5 years before figuring this out. It's a 32 year old house so if this is my worst problem I'll take it. I'll get it fixed and move on. I'm going to get a few estimates from Heat and Air companies before ripping out the ceiling. They may have a solution.

  31. Then buy it!!! LOL! Seriously, that's a great price for a peach of a carry pistol. If my arthritic hands could handle the 45...I'd have already bought this! And speaking of buying...let me tell you from multiple experiences with tercel89; you won't find a better man to deal with...with the possible exception of me! Really, I've made several purchases from him over our years here and always been extremely happy with them. And you'll get to meet of of the most upstanding members of this group when you do.

  32. I've got 2 a T3x Lite in .30-06 & a T3 Superlight Hunter in 6.5x55. I honestly believe they're the best rifle you can possibly buy, under a grand. The action is like oiled glass, the trigger is spectacular & you will not find a more accurate, out of the box rifle anywhere. With the advent of prefit barrels, they're a brilliant base action for a custom build, although aftermarket stock makers are lagging behind. I think a lot of folks are maybe a bit offput by them being a 'budget' gun, being that they're Sako's cheaper option, but they're every bit as good a a model 85.
