As a Christmas present to myself,I recently acquired a Sears and Roebuck Ted Williams Model 100 (thanks @chance77. This is a Winchester Model 94, made by Winchester for Sears. It is chambered in .30-30 and is a post ‘63 Model 94 from either the late 60s or early 70s. There are not great records of the serial numbers from these rifles, from what I can tell. The rifle came with a Weaver side plate for a Weaver side mounted scope on the left side of the receiver. Since it was already there, I went ahead and picked up the correct Weaver 1” scope mount and a vintage Armsport 3x9x34mm scope with a Duplex reticle. The side mounted scope is interesting. If I was a righty, I think it would be awkward to use. But being a lefty, it is fairly easy to just press my cheek up and into the stock move my left eye to the scope from the iron sights. I’m looking forward to getting it to my buddies range and sighting in the scope.

Yep. If you're not well -stocked then set your strike price in your mind and keep a watch on it. When your caliber(s) hit that price, load up.

Back about 20 years ago I was following the LTW crew (Yost, CT Brian, Chen, Christanensen etc) and was amazed by their work, which was some of the best going. Over time you began to notice that most of the people who bought these guns were more collectors than anything. You’d see the same gun pop up for sale, unfired as it was when the previous owner had bought it. Almost nobody was carrying them or doing competitions with them. The occasions where someone did send in a beat-up custom for refurbishment were noteworthy threads on the forum. Most “real” working guns were the realm of lesser known smiths (but not necessarily less capable) whose work could actually be afforded by most of us. I always had a lot of respect for the smiths in the competition world because they constantly saw high round count guns and knew what worked and they learned how to build guns that would stand up.

If there is video of his reckless driving we may see it in court. I know that area well and there are several cameras all over the place. They were headed west on E. Raines Rd during the initial stop and had to come off of Riverdale Rd. City cameras on Riverdale would have been at the intersections of Hwy385, Winchester Rd and on E. Shelby Drive. There are multiple gas stations, businesses, two city offices, a fire station and a large church which would have had cameras at those intersections. If Nichols was coming from Shelby Farms he probably came down S. Germantown Rd to Winchester, then on to Riverdale to Raines heading home. There are again multiple cameras from Shelby Farms thru Germantown down to Winchester Rd that has cameras and businesses everywhere. If Nichols was driving recklessly in any of these areas, it will be recorded somewhere.

You might want to stop equivocating people with animals and go back and watch the video…several times. At what point did he even have a chance to comply like a trained dog?

At my LGS today. 9mm that was 18 last week is now at 15. .22 that had been 10 now at 7. .45 that had been 35 now at 29. I spoke to the owner and told him he had good prices. He said that in the last week distributors had been dropping their prices on nearly all popular ammo. He said he was marking down everything to move it out, some at close to what he had been paying for the cash flow and would buy at much better prices. So if you're contemplating a big ammo purchase online, it might pay to wait a while and check locally first if possible. Then again, if you're in a big city, you might want to get all you can today at the LGS today.

Made a couple of big (for me) gun purchases lately so figure I'll throw this one out here to see if anyone wants it more than I would like to keep it. Beretta 92 Volunteer edition. I bought this gun new and it is unfired since I had it. (I assume they still factory test fire them) It has been on a display stand in my living room, handled and the slide racked maybe a dozen times since I've had it. Beautiful gun with the special grips and engraving. Plenty of info on them via the Google so won't go into the specs or details. There is a minor imperfection near the takedown lever. I have 3 boxes, 20 rounds each of this ammo, plus 14 loose rounds. Asking $100 for the lot of 74 rounds. This is well below the cheapest price per round that I have seen anywhere for this ammo. Yep, that's what I did not to long ago. Between the price for 9mm and .380 getting close to my strike price and all the credit card monitoring that is promised, I restocked to levels I can live with for a long time. If it actually goes much lower I may add a bit more in some calibers that I don't shoot as much. Most of my reserve is still at levels that my son will end up shooting when I'm long gone.

**SOLD** Up for sale is a brand new CZ Scorpion pistol in FDE. This is chambered in 9mm and uses proprietary magazines, and I will include x2 30-round magazines. These are an absolute blast to shoot. I have one already that is SBR'd and then purchased a FDE version a few years back to do the same with to have as a backup. I recently sent the original one I had back to CZ due to the receiver having a developing crack, and they sent me a brand new firearm with a different serial number which is this one. It has zero rounds through it, and I've decided to continue my downsizing and list it for sale. Of note, I do have access to an OEM factory stock that I'd be happy to include if you want to SBR it as well. The stocks are VERY hard to find. If you don't want it, I don't mind selling it elsewhere. I also have a Primary Arms Cyclops 1X Prism Gen I optic that is also in FDE that was bought for this pistol that I would like to move along as well. Accurate might have better options, either no.7 or no.9, I can't remember off the top of my head and currently all my load stuff is in storage. Might also look into titegroup.

Just my $0.02. Unless power factor is a consideration the chambering doesn't matter much beyond which make/models you may choose from. 1911s with the single stack design are all going to be low capacity by today's standards regardless of chambering. That you are already leaning toward 9mm, were I in your position with your goal and stated budget, I would pass on a 1911 altogether and save up a little longer to get onto the 2011 platform. I'd echo DocHawk's sentiment for Sig 1911s, the ones I've shot have all been of excellent quality.

I'll just say this, take the Brace off and just pay the $200 Tax. Remember "Free always come with a catch" so if I decide to turn my SP5 Pistol to an SBR on Form 1 then I'll skip their "Free Tax Stamp" and pay the fee. Just my opinion on this crappy subject, I still say you should be able to buy an SBR, or Suppressor directly from an FFL and pay your Tax Stamp Fee right then and there and as long as you pass the background check you should be able to leave with it along with a copy of were you paid the tax and then let ATF send you your stamp as long as you passed the background check. The system can be streamlined to be able to do that, just think of all the money they would make if it where just made that simple. Just my two cents on this subject.

Here’s what it boils down to folks. Either someone is a legal adult and entitled to all the rights and responsibilities that entails, or they aren’t. It’s really not more complicated than that.

For any of the fellas that were curious, I ended up buying a Woodland Mills sawmill. The company, their service, shipping, and the mill itself have been great. The only thing that would have been better was if they offered a larger mill. But, at their price point they can’t be beat in my mind.

They were released 2 years after the move. I have one and it’s a beatutiful out of the box BBQ gun. I will say the OP missed out by never shooting his. The 92 Volunteer is a combination of the Brigadier and 92 G and is one of the smoothest shooting 92s I have ever had in my hands. GLWS.
