I'm literally open to any suggestions. I've had a bunch of fun, the last few months, bringing a few old rifles back to life. A couple of old 1930s Husqvarnas, a knackered old Remington a cut-down K98 & I'm presently working on the world's (previously) UGLIEST Carcano bubba-job. Turns out, that working on projects like this, along with working on getting my bike how I want it, are really helping my depression. I went from a lifetime of building things, to working a job for the last 14 years that whilst enjoyable, doesn't have the same sense of satisfaction as starting with nothing & finishing with a useful product. So I'm looking for old, disused, manky, rusty old rifles i can, if not restore, then at least refinish & remodel into working, things. Previously "sporterized" are preferable, that way I won't be accidentally devaluing a collectible piece. When I'm done with them, I'll offer them back to the original seller for whatever i pay, plus whatever actual parts I need to source (with receipts). My time will be free. If the original seller doesn't want it back, I'll either keep it or offer it up on the open market for an extra, say, $50? I'm 100% NOT trying to make any money, not trying to be or learn to be a gunsmith, I'm just looking for the sense of satisfacion of making at least a polycotton blend purse from a sow's ear I really don't want to spend tons, probably $300 max & old & rusty would be preferred over modern & just broken.

On these subjects, I’m going to have to disagree with you here. The use of unmarked vehicles for traffic enforcement has long been a concern for public safety. Whether it was imposters pulling over folks to rob and or rape folks, or other factors, it has long been a controversial, and in my opinion improper practice. The use of pretextual traffic stops as fishing expeditions because of suspicions of other types of wrongdoing is on the line of running afoul of civil liberty violations. I don’t know about you, but dancing on the line of violating civil liberties of the citizenry is not something I believe a properly functioning, law-enforcement entity should be seeking. Any good officer, or agency should be able to recognize where the line is of rights violations is, be able to point at it and make the statement “it’s waaaaay over there.“

Sounds like it's past time for McNally to retire or be retired, by his constituents. Or at the very least, be nuetered by the Republican Party Leadership. To be honest, the Republican Party in Tennessee needs a wake up call from Firearms Enthusiasts. For too long, we have been courted during election season, only to be ignored when legislation comes to the table. The Republican Leadership considers us to a Voter Booty Call and frankly I'm damned tired of it. Of course, the flip side of is we have made significant inroads to changes in Gun Laws in this state. Just not enough and it seems everything is a damned uphill fight with the Legislature and the Governor.

12 gauge, side by side, in the best condition I have ever seen on one of these. Don't get me wrong, it is used, but still has some case colors present and is in good original condition for its grade and age ~120 years old. Things to consider... Dexterity... Ya can't beat goatskin for dexterity. In the old days, our TIG welding guys used goatskin. Go to the nearest welding supply store and get the right size n the right price. They are very reasonably priced. Second; if you work, that is: Carry concrete blocks, stone, bricks, manure, shovel, dig, swing a sledge hammer, set poles, climb poles, do wire rigging; expect your gloves to wear out, no matter the price if they are leather. They are sacrificial garments to save your hands. If you wear your gloves to drive, ride horses, ATVs, etc; they are an " accessory ", not a primarily protective clothing; they will last just fine. Spend as much as your pride in ownership quotient allows... By the way, this info is brought to you via an old curmudgeon, who has worked in jobs where ya can wear out a pair of gloves a day. Lastly, Wells Lamont leather palm/ canvas " White Mule " gloves used to be the best ya could by if you " worked "... Mine used to last about a week before the fingers wore thru back in the hod carrying/ brickwork days. retired ( thankfully ) leroy, the glove man...

I use Italian Dressing for quick stuff, but my favorite is a white vinegar, olive oil, melted butter, salt, and pepper mixture. Mix it half vinegar/half oil and then about a tablespoon of melted butter (for help browning), a tablespoon or so of kosher salt and as much pepper as you like. You will have to keep mixing it as you use it. Don't marinate the chicken in it, just brine the chicken and then start basting/mopping it on the chicken with the mixture as soon as you put it on the grill. I have yet to have one person that doesn't like it. It's best on chicken that has the skin on it, but works great on all.

Sorry to say this, because Texas Roadhouse has always been a favorite place to go for a good steak for us. But last weekend in Hendersonville was a bit of a dissapointment. Ordered 2 steaks. One seasoned and one not(my wife...I'm sorry about that.) Longer wait than usual. As I get up to flag a server, a young man from the kitchen comes out and tells us that my wife's steak will have to be redone. It has their seasonings on it. He's cooking her another one. Rougly 10 minutes later, or meal is delivered. Hers is perfect. Mine looked like it had been sat under a heat lamp and fried! Potatoe was shriveled and everything was cold. I sent up a flare(figuratively) for a floor manager. Pointed out the problem and got the usual prolific apologies. "I'll get you another" she says. Ok sounds good. By this time, my wife has finished her meal. Manager comes over with the new steak. It's not burnt, but very well done and with a char on it; my mushroom topping consisted of 6 burnt mushrooms. Now I'm a guy who actually will eat a well-done steak. I like it. But this was beyond me. More apologies. Offers another. Nope, I'm ready to leave. Ask for the check. Nope, it's comped. Offers us desert as well. My wife says yes. No surprise there. Now...by the time desert comes out, another server brings out a new steak to me. ???? Apologies for the delay. Thinks it's the first replacemant. LOL! Just not a good day for us. Anyway, it ends with a boxed take-out meal for me and no charge for anything. Sorry, got a bit offtrack here. But the little tabletop pay system shows no charge, but asks for a tip to be added. lol. 10, 18, and 25% figures on it for choices. But at least it's not automatically added as some places do. Sorry, but I'm not real thrilled with the visit; but I gave the girl 10 upon my wife's insistance. I know the general rules/requests for tipping. I'll leave a tip for good service and friendly courteous behavior, AND my drink must be refilled without having to ask. That's a must for me as far as good service goes. So...I'll leave 10 for good service on a meal of 50/60 bucks. I think that's fair for 2 people. More if it's a great meal and experience. Rarely will I leave more. Now there are exceptions to that, but in general../that's me. Additional info. Will I go back to Roadhouse. Sure. Everyone can have a bad day/experience. We just got one of thosedays. On the whole, Texas Roadhouse is great.

I don't think anyone is saying that. And that's fine. Most people seem to think MPD's issues are wide spread and started long before they murdered Tyre Nichols. Sometimes an event like this is the catalyst needed for change. The fact that they are taking this seriously and show willingness to make changes seems like a good thing to me. How often have we seen departments come to the conclusion they did nothing wrong?

Picked this up from my dealer last month. Springfield XDM Elite in 10mm. Mag holds 16 (2 mags included), decent trigger, red dot ready, 4.5 inch barrel. Plenty of pistol for the delivered price of $566. Ambidextrous mag release and slide release. Sights are easy to pick up.

I'd be a lot more likely to buy a 10mm than a 40 S&W. Just makes more sense to me, since I could see me using this more for a large predator defense gun, while hiking. I've always been committed to .38spl/.357mag/9mm.

What do unmarked cars have to do with Nichols' murder? If the cars were marked, would he still be alive? Would he have remained at the traffic stop instead of running from the people who were killing him? This is no different than somebody robbing a liquor store with a j-frame and politicians saying, "See, we have to ban AR-15s!" Unmarked cars making traffic stops to "fish" does happen, I'll acknowledge that. It leads to a lot of bad guys getting caught. Imposters are a concern, although I haven't heard about any. Let's not pretend that either of these issues are the actual reasons that the city council wants to neuter police. Pretextual stops are widely used to bust open ongoing investigations when timing is everything. That is REALVILLE and SCOTUS has ruled that pretextual traffic stops are kosher. To take away this Constitutional tool will make life easier for bad guys, and that's the last thing Memphis and Shelby County need right now.

After doin a bit of watching; sadly, I'm beginning to believe that this poor woman's family search for justice is nothin more than an opportunity to make a few dollars thru a " nuisance " settlement or " wrongful death " settlement with the city n hospital. They are taking one wrong and turning it into an opportunity for cash. We need hospitals; we need police. This angling for a " settlement " will hurt both, including this poor woman's memory. SIGH. I'ma thinkin they care no more than to pocket some cash... It's a truly sad scene. It is also very wrong. leroy...

Hello. I have for sale 2 Polish AK armorer kits. One is still sealed with wire. One I cut the wire when I got it to inspect it however all items are still sealed in their original wrapper. These were made for the Polish Underfolder however most of the parts are replacements for any stamped AK. The last two pictures I pulled from the net to show the items that are included were you to open all the sealed items. Whether a target shooter or .22 Long Rifle appropriate game/outdoors hunter this weapon does not miss. Great balance, no recoil and minimal ammo cost make it a perfect combination for a weapon platform to teach from or compete with target with confidence. IF there is a miss it is operator error. Mid to early 1980s production with minimal scratching, not a presentation piece but handled and cared for with respect.

1911 is the original 45, go with the 45 and then the 9 and while your at it get a 38 Super too, you’ll be happy with all three.

Agreed, but as I said before, Weirich needed to go. Maybe now that folks are seeing just how bad it was inevitably going to get with an activist like Mulroy, maybe a proper reorientation can occur. As another friend of mine said, “if the courts are trash, policing is futile.”

For what it's worth... I've owned, and still have several Boker Kalishnakov knives. I find them to be very good knives, especially for me. I don't carry/need 200$ plus knives to pocket carry. My 35 buck Boker satisifies me. I have 2 autos and find myself playing with them frequently. Blade snaps and locks in a most satisfactory manner. I've stayed away from the colored blades. Just not my taste, but to each his own. Ok...now you've gotten me wanting to get another one!!

I could be wrong but I thought the Scorpion division drove unmarked Chargers? My point was that you've been critical of every change they have made so far so I'm curious what you think they SHOULD do. They murdered him. If they didn't make any changes they would be getting criticized for that too. Unmarked police cars should not be used for traffic violations. I shouldn't have to wonder if the person behind me is a legitimate officer or some idiot impersonating an officer.

That sounds good. I bet that is very similar in taste to one I like. It is hot pepper jelly and dijon mustard mixed together. Makes a real nice glaze when you are grilling. As far as a marinade here is one my wife and I really like. 2 bottles of teriyaki marinade 1 can crushed pineapple 1 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup or more of hot sauce 1/4 cup lemon juice. Blend it up and pour it over chicken that has been tenderized with a jaccard. After it marinates throw it on the smoker for 30-40 minutes. Delicious.

I don’t know that you’ll totally get away from that. I‘d love to have a nice pair of leather gloves with all kinds of character like you see in the old western movies. But there’s a reason you only see those in the movies - because they’re not real. If we’re using gloves to protect our hands - then they’re a consumable item and we should think of them like that. So then it’s down to balancing “how do I consume these less frequently at a reasonable price point.“ The gloves I posted above meet that criteria for me. They’re super comfortable, and it doesn’t make me viscerally angry to have to replace them. I can’t even count how many mechanic type gloves I’ve worn out over the years after less than a day of use. Paying 25 or 30 bucks for a “heavy duty” pair just makes you mad when they wear out. I keep two types of gloves around. The ones I posted above, and a $20 box of nitrile gloves that I use when I just want to keep my hands clean.

I'll toss in the Beretta Serie 80 .380s. I have an 84BB and an 85BB. The 84 is a double stack and fits my hand so I shoot it better. BBs have a safety. Later models have a decocker. Ala Burger King, have it your way. Light Al frames make them easy to carry. Midsize so they conceal well. Too big for a pocket (XSP for that), though.

On a Marlin 336, the locking block has two functions. Primarily, it locks the bolt in place. Secondarily, it aligns the rear firing pin with the front firing pin. If the locking block is not seating all the way into the bolt, it may not be getting the rear pin lined up completely. This would prevent the full force of the hammer strike from being transferred all the way to the primer. Make sure the lever is closing all the way. you might also pull the bolt and do a complete tear down to make sure everything is moving freely.
