NPR gets their funding from federal government ie your tax dollars they will report a very slanted view and report whatever is approved by the higher ups I would like to get back to just the facts reporting not opinions pieces

I've struggled with this for years with my wife. She is definitely concerned with "self protection" but less so on the armed front. She can shoot fairly and effectively (that's relative of course) shoot a handgun but has no real interest in getting advanced training either from myself or a third party. We finally had the conversation of their being certain instances where she does carry and certain ones she doesn't. Example: I don't want her to be in a situation where she may feel led to employ a firearm in our crowded church on a Sunday morning if the need arose. I'm there as well as many others who can handle the offense. She doesn't have the training to do that safely and effectively BUT does have a knowledge on what to do in those situations. She DOES however carry on normal work days and many other instances where there is little chance of that type of collateral damage from a poor decision. I wish I could convince her to do more but it hasn't happed over 12 years so it probably isn't haha. That said, there are MANY MANY people that I have instructed on firearm basics where my end recommendation was for them to not carry until they either practiced a good bit more or sought out training. I may catch flack for that from some but I don't want my loved ones and friends in a position of a bad shoot or hurting bystanders over a false sense of ability.

Well, I'll say this, no matter if she ran her mouth, called them racial slurs, or whatever, it does not mean she needed a beatdown from three assailants. I am definitely not in the shape I once was, and if one or more try and give me a beatdown, someone is not walking away. I am armed, and if I become incapacitated, they will then be armed if they are not armed already, so I will not allow myself to become incapacitated if I can help it. I have this attitude because I know I will not be the aggressor in that kind of situation, I am not one to start fights, and will walk away if I can. So there is no chance I will be involved in a drunken brawl, specially because I am armed most times.

Just saw this and ordered 2 cases. LockedLoaded.Com has some good ammo prices going today. I found this Blazer Brass 115 gr or 124gr for $219 per case of 1000. Good Price, but they will hit you on Shipping. 2 cases was 499 shipped. Not too bad for these days. Not great. But I went for it. As of now, the ad is still live and says Still In Stock. Hope this helps someone. I don't shoot a lot of PD ammo, the prices are just too much for my budget. A mag or 2 in each I think I might carry, a few more in favorite carry piece. Anyway, other brands available, both in range and PD, but I didn't really look at them. Blazer is one of about 4 favorites, so I stick with those.

It was a birthday party. Should have been a fun time. But it appears that an argument started and somebody decided to settle it with a gun. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Sadly, that's the world we live in today. Young people have no value for human life and kill each other for the most trivial of reasons. We have failed as a society.

I think that part of the problem is that our judicial system is WAY too easy on people who break gun laws. If the penalties for illegal use of a firearm were enforced to the full extent of the law I think there would be less of this kind of thing. Right now one can get away with lying on a 4470 (Hunter Biden springs to mind!), and criminals get away with very minor punishments. Perhaps if being caught with an illegal firearm landed the criminal in jail for a significant amount of time there would be fewer people engaging in illegal carry. (I'm thinking of those who are prohibited from possessing a firearm, either under-age or those with criminal records.) The penalty for having a firearm during the commission of a crime should require serious time in prison, and for actually using one in a criminal manner should send the criminal away for many years. Maybe the Alabama BD party shooter will fall into none of the categories I just mentioned, but I'm for taking drastic measures against CRIMINALS (not law-abiding gun owners) when they use a gun wrongly.

Well, what does the race of the shooter or victims really matter. Being a town in southern Alabama, the racial makeup of the town is probably close to 50/50 white/black.

I miss the days of mil-surplus stores everywhere and Gun Shows that were actually Gun Shows. Nowadays I mostly just order on the net as that’s where most of the only deals are anymore, but there is something so hollow in that. I miss the smell (a lovely faint essence of cosmoline, gun leather, and cigars) and the tactile nature of it all. I remember when my favorite mail was the latest Shotgun News.

Doug, all you can do is try. I commend you for that. But some just don't want the responsibility, or the cautionary fear that should go with carrying ANY sort of weapon or safety device. It's a choice that we cannot make for them, or force upon them. Each must decide for themselves. At least your daughter seems to understand this. My wife is a retired nurse and has seen things like your daughter has. Again, all she could rely on were the guards to walk them out for protection. During once time frame at Vanderbilt(both at an on campus and off campus facilites) the guards were escorting INTO the buildings. Staff was encouraged to call when they had parked, and not exit their vehicle until security arrived. Oh, the times we live in are a changin'.

Do not use any cleaner that removes lead. Underneath the nickel is a layer of zinc and lead removers will dissolve zinc. This is why you see nickel guns with flakes of nickel coming off. Use semi chrome or I use Flitz.

Simichrome Polish. Made in Germany. I believe I got mine from Brownells. Put some on a soft cloth and lots of elbow grease. It does wonders. I put it on a toothbrush and use it to remove powder residue off the cylinder face of stainless revolvers.

Most retail outlets have stopped trying to prevent shoplifting/stealing and just have a policy for writing off X amount of money for taxes and make up part of or most of their loss for the year. I have seen on the news where Walmart has camera's at their doors and they film people taking 2 or 3 flat screen TV's out without paying for them and they don't do anything to stop them.

Perhaps Mr. Williams likes it when our duly elected officials urinate down his back. He should also refrain from using the word idiots when describing people who are smarter than he is. Investigative Journalist is a title given to people who know little of reality and their articles should begin with "Once Upon A Time"

Some may call this post "social media trash" but the reality is that attacks like this are increasing rapidly & women & the elderly are more vulnerable. I encourage anyone to invest the time & resources to get equipment & training for the women in their lives IF they want to get their CCW.

Especially in EAST Nashville! Ok, I want to add to and amend my above comment. Parts of East Nashville have a "reputation" and it is well deserved. This particular area, as well as the "Murder Kroger"(as it is known by around here, are in a fairly high crime portion of Inglewood and East Nashville. No, I'm notdownplaying or dispariging the area. I live nearby. Sort of the fringe between East and Madison. When we moved here, it was considered a "sketchy" area at best. That has changed over the years. The influx of out of state buyers has caused a lot of gentrification all around. Property values have skyrocketed. So also have the property taxes. This has caused/forced changes in the demographics of the area. Not always to the benefit of locals. Many older folks who bought or built home in this area have been forced out because of this. I won't go into the good/bad debate or it here. For better or worse, it's the way of things. Now this change and prosperity has also changed the makeup of the population. High(er) income, younger people move in. Usually less concerned and sometimes even less aware of what this change can, and most often does. As surrounding folks are puched away' and these are mostly older. An element sees this a rich pickings for easy money. Smash'n'grabs, backyard theft, car breakins, and more recently, daytime street crime...muggings. Publicly most of the latter are downplayed, but they do happen. Ok a wee bit off track here. But shoplifting in this area has been an issue for more than just recent months and events. Walgreens and Kroger have been the prime targets, and this has escalated in recent times. In the last year, I have seen armed security at even small stores, not just Walgreens and Kroger. Whether or not they are for more than show, I don't know. But I do know that based on appearence of some of these security persons; I'd fear them more than the shoplifters. Young, sloppy, on cell phones. Not good. Ok, gone afar here. The young man at Walgreens, I think, went too far in his perception of his job duties. Unless it's a Pharmacy breakin, and even then it's questionable, he should have stayed inside. JMO

I debated for years(decades really) over a Lifetime Membership. Finally during one of the promos, I bit at 250 for the Lifetime. No freebies then, so can't say I did it for the swag anyway. After all I've said about times I did attend; I do remember Louisville the most. Trump and all the fanfare associated with him. I met a lot of nice people. Didn't win anything while there. Watched many that did. Very envious. Some nice prizes. Entered the Knife Freedom contest. Being cheap and not working, I really sweated over that one! $100 a ticket really was tough for me. But after about a year, I got a box with a very nice custom knife in it. Don't remember the maker at this time, but looked him up and found he was a well known person. I'll dig out the knife sometime and tell you who he was. All being said, I do think the NRA has been a helpful organization. But like almost every group that has great intentions; they grow and get bloated from OPM. Wayne LaPierre was a good example. I truley think he started out as a good person trying to help America's gun owners and protecting our 2nd Ammendment Rights. But like many politicos, Wayne evidently was seduced by the power and the money he accumulated over the years. So leading to his downfall. And his Suit Collection didn't help either. LOL I believe he has been the greatest factor in the weakening of the NRA. I sure hop it's not too late for the organization to fully recover. Though I fear it will not, but will continue to exist.

A point of clarification on my comments here. Regardless of this, whether the girls are reversed, and it's a white on black situation; NO ONE should be treated this way. My feelings won't change because of the skin color. I have, and probably you too, seen videos of teens and young people just going crazy and beating someone. For unknown reasons, this seems to be increasingly seen. I don't want to say "common" but it sure seem to happen with some regularity.

My take on this , is it's not so much about gun control, but just control . Gun control is a tool. Once they have our guns, then they can control us. JMHO

That is the scariest thing about this so-called Administration. If you think about the known list, that’s really saying something. It’s a relatively simple but adamant playbook as they continue to erode our constitution. They have no reservations with overreach, merrily ignore the different branches of government, chronically deny any wrongdoing & simply double-down when caught, then consistently weaponize agencies against any citizens who call them out.

I myself have used never dull extensively on nickel plated restoration items with great luck, but full disclosure only once on a firearm- an antique Colt. It did go well for me but your mileage may vary. I didn’t know that about the zinc layer in nickel guns, thanks derf!

I told him what I was calling about, gave him my number if the Senator wanted to talk about this. An hour later Senator Sutherland called me & assured me he did not support this garbage Lee proposed. Fair enough, but I think you eluded to the unavoidable impediment. One side wants to solve the problem and the other side only wants to confiscate gun from law-abiding citizens. All they bring to the table is "get rid of guns" that's why there can't be a reasonable discussion. They bring bullhorns, mindless chanting, and signs, not reason, logic, or practicality.

Our Constitutional rights have been conceded repeatedl: National Firearms Act (1934) Federal Firearms Act (1938) Gun Control Act (1968) Firearm Owner Protection Act (1986) Gun-Free School Zones Act (1990) Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (1993) Federal Assault Weapons Ban (1994) Have the anti-gun side given any concessions? Even one?

I do have a Detective. I've run maybe 50 rounds down the pipe. I origionally bought it for the novelty when I saw the ad. It is a nice, fun little pistol. Not sure of it's value. Came in a cardboard box I believe. I have seen promo articles stating that all three clone manufacturers are planning "Detective" copies.
