  1. Devil's advocate here but; Who's the rightful owner?  That would be them.  Is a person NOT entitled to do with their property however they see fit so long as it's legal?  They can shove them up their butt and cluck like a chicken if that makes them happy.

I wouldn't do it, you wouldn't do but it IS their decision.  How angry do we get when we are told what we can and cannot do with our own property?

Ultimately, the destruction of their property only makes YOUR property more valuable.

A fool and his money are soon parted.  Let the fools piss away their money.  Means NOTHING to me.  I'm neither impressed or outraged but perfectly indifferent to all idiots and their decisions so long as it doesn't impact the rest of our lives.

I have a nice daddy M1 Garand from the 50s or 60s.  It is a 30-06.  It uses the Garand clips, but has a metal plate where the magazine would go.

Is it reasonably easy to set it up to use magazines?

Would it be sacrilege to migrate it to a .308?  Roughly, what would that cost?  I wouldn't it change the barrel myself and would pay a good gunsmith to do it.

    Doable?  Yes.  Reasonable? No.

I have seen one at Knob Creek that used BAR magazines.  It was a LOT of machining.

The .308 Garand with detachable magazines was done by Beretta,  Google BM-59.

  3. Either get some form of AR platform or go with either a H&K or FN design.  I know the flaming is about to begin but M1A's are picky as hell and despite what so many claim about reliability, not all are.  You must spend money and/or time to dial them in.  Sometimes you get lucky but even still, they are similar to a Garand with that Op rod.  They do not like just any and all loads you decide to feed them.  There are diehards who will fist fight over it, but there are cheaper and better options than the M14/M1A design.

A roller locker like the CETME or HK91 will eat just about anything but they are hard on brass.

An FAL will eat just about anything.

My personal suggestion is, Get yourself behind an FN FAR.  They are not cheap and magazines will bankrupt you at almost $50 each BUT, it is based on the Browning BAR [commercial, NOT military] with some added strength where it was needed.

If you ever want shoot at Haffners on a Sunday morning, I will put you behind it and let you have at it.

    That's my 2 cents.  At current inflation it's worth....less.

  4. Jennifer Lopez once insured her legs for a million dollars.

I'm thinking you might need to look into a "Digit Policy" for them hands.  At your current rate, by the time you're 65 you'll have arthritis so bad you won't be able to scratch your nads.

    Be more careful man!!!!!

Caster and I had a heated debate / argument about a week ago.  We got tired of fighting and went back to having fun, kind of like kids on the play ground.  I love how kids on the playground can have a fight, then forget about it and get back to having fun.

What about?  I don't remember that.

I have drank a few since then so.....

  6. I've never claimed in one single post to be intelligent.  Never claimed I wasn't a hypocrite or that I was a man of integrity.   I whine and bitch all the time too, have you read any of my posts?

I just find it laughable that with all the things going on, Academy Sports decision to hide a particular product sets off so many alarms.  Next thing you know people will be trying to sell things at over inflated prices and we can get back to some of those wonderful price gouging conversations.  :bowrofl::bowrofl:

  7. I'm still failing to see what the big deal is.

Guns are a very small percentage of Academy's revenue.

Would you have them just jump up on a soap box and shout it out to the world, potentially alienating a larger percentage of their customer base?  They are a business, in the business of making money not political statements and friends.

So they covered a few of their wares from the great eye of the media and public until the dust from this shooting settles. So what?

I gotta say [and I'll make no friends saying it but it needs saying] The gun crowd are some of the whiniest hypocritical bitches in this country.  WaaaWaaa, they pulled some guns and put them under the counter until the potentially bad media coverage has passed.  Meanwhile, our rights get trampled and officials get elected with leftist agendas and most of the gun crowd can't be bothered to do a gd thing.

All the things that have, are and will happen are happening because WE LET it happen.

There's a beautiful thing about capitalism; you don't HAVE to spend money where you don't want to.

  8. If you were to take off your clothes and run in a circle at 186,000 miles per second, you could theoretically F yourself.  BUT, since man cannot achieve the speed of light, one can achieve the same result by NOT doing whatever it takes to keep Hillary out of office.  Even if that means voting for someone else you despise.

That is all.  Have a great weekend.

  9. No other tyrannical government has ever faced such a heavily armed people as Americans.

Guys I know we all think we are in the know around here.  We like to think we understand JUST how much hardware is in the hands of the American people.  Maybe some of you do.

BUT it's my contention that the average American would be flabbergasted to know the truth of it.  Any number that analysts come up with falls short.  As I said, having worked in a machine shop for many years, what's been bought in broad daylight is only part of it.

Between 43 nations there were 47 billion rounds of small arms ammunition used in WWII.  There's something like 12 billion rounds sold a year.  With all the gotdang hoarders.....well..damn!!!

Take one redneck saving ammo for the last 2 decades and he's got 10K rounds of (centerfire .22's don't count here)

The media and the sheeple would be *GASP!!!*  I would think there are more than a few here that would say "Humph, big deal.  I got twice or three times that."  Of course I don't expect anyone to voice that one.  LOL.

People need to worry about their CONTINUED rights.  Taking your gun away is a friggin joke if I ever heard one.

The only way to stop a bad guy from getting a gun is remove guns from society.

    People really believe this.

I worked for many years as a tool & die maker and I can assure you, there will ALWAYS be guns.  Even the more difficult to manufacture 'Ammunition' ain't impossible.

Guns are here, they will NEVER leave.  Not until our tyrannical government has exterminated every one.
