  1. Still waiting on the M&P 10mm. If it is like my full size 45, it will be a winner.
  2. Once upon a time I overheard a gun bar conversation, salesperson bragging about his 'extensive' training. Claimed he had his carry permit ! That was the extent of it.
  3. As in any natural disaster…
  4. You won't have a car parked over the shelter....you have to move it, to get into the shelter. Debris on top shouldn't be the main concern, surviving the wind event is 1st priority. A whistle, air horn, emergency locator, etc should be inside. If you have water you will in all likely hood survive until rescued even IF you can't get out immediately.
  5. Traveling with Firearms: Rules for Illinois Residents Versus Visitors | Joliet Weapons Charges Defense Lawyer | Law Office of Jack L Zaremba (zarembalawoffice.com) The law as stated above closely resembles the "permitless carry" situation in TN before the recent July permitless carry law. In car, can't carry it outside the car. Little more complicated if you hang out in IL overnite.
  6. Not an attorney, nor is this legal advice....but certainly my opinion based on knowledge and study of related matters. Straw purchase and gifts are entirely different. Proof only has to be provided to LE if necessary. Keep in mind, in TN, it is legal for certain 18 - 20 yo to carry a handgun in TN. They have to be able to legally obtain such firearms in some way; private purchase or gifts would be such ways. One has to be certain to walk that line above reproach. Whether you want to be involved in such a transaction is your personal choice. I would simply say that both buyer and seller need to be aware of the laws and act accordingly.
  7. just a follow up. Neither gun has BUS. I have shot several thousand rounds through both guns.
  8. I had my S&W pro cut for a SRO....less than $100. No problems, but I also put an EGW mount on a standard 2.0 and mounted a Holosun on it. Works just fine as well. Both have been on for over a year,
  9. shooting someone in self defense should always be of last resort.....I don't see that here.

    45ACP bug

1911 require more TLC. I've got a Dan Wesson which is great, but day in day out, give me my M&P .45. It runs on anything and super reliable.
  11. I plan on being there
  12. Yes it is…..especially now. But just several preseason shots and 2 or 3 meat shots should hold me about 3 yrs or so.
  13. Just checked with Midway. Had .280 Remington Core-Lok ammo available. More common calibers have been available for some time.
  14. just go red dots and forget about irons
  15. next class will be Nov. 13 at Pellissippi State. Lot of people now understanding the limits of permitless carry. Invest in yourself and learn the law and some basic firearm knowledge. This IS NOT a class to learn how to shoot. One should already be minimially familiar with their firearm and its function.
  16. You have reciprocity… afaik, no differences. Obey postings on entrances. No drinking while armed.
  17. It's a decent holster and at least a way to carry another mag.....kill two birds with one stone. Awkward and unconventional but serves its purpose.
  18. Just bought one of these this week. All positive reviews and I must say my initial impression is very positive. Feels good in the hand, nice balance. Comes with a decent holster. Slide cut for optic. Warren steel sights with FS luminous. 2 changeable backstraps. Shot very nicely to POA and handled all reloads and cycled flawlessly with HP. Has a 12 rd and 15rd mag. Can be had around $400. Lifetime warranty. If you have been thinking about it, I don't think you will be sorry. 3.6" barrel, little chunkier than the S&W 1.0 compact which it won't replace but is a nice option.
  19. A little grittier, and heavier. Know another shooter…same thing. Had a bit higher profile and he bitched enough that they fixed it.
  20. When I sent mine back, came back significantly worse….sold it.
  21. You didn't see the guy standing in line at McDs who was stripped of his gun while standing in line? https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2021/02/18/video-man-snatches-gun-from-man-at-detroit-gas-station-counter/ https://www.abc15.com/news/region-phoenix-metro/south-phoenix/silent-witness-looking-for-man-who-stole-gun-from-mcdonalds-customer
  22. just an example that has happened, can't remember the exact details, but a bad guy rounded up all the customers and employees to lock in a back room. Who knows, may have been intent on murdering them all. At the appropriate time, an armed good guy pulled his gun and shot bad guy. Had he been OC, never would have had that chance as he would have been disarmed by bad guy. Surprise is part of one's defensive tactics.
  23. 1776, that is just a terrible idea. You don't like being 'force fed' and others don't either. Making people feel uncomfortable is not a way to win them over. Take any protesters that you may oppose; does that sway you over to their side? People make their own choices. OC can make you a target for a quick grab, now you are chasing an armed bad guy - bad choice. You lose your element of surprise is approached by a criminal. There is no known instructor to me that promotes OC...there is a reason for that.
