In a perfect world, that hopefully would be anywhere you are, but 'gun free' zones are target areas for those wanting to create chaos. It is well documented that churches have been targets; presumably because of those folks not having the means to readily defend themselves. In one case, a parishoner used their own firearm to shoot the attacker. Look now at the security at the large churches....only the naive would think this is a safe place. The Bible also addresses this, so it is nothing new. Additionally, to wear out the cliche` freedom is not free....as long as this remains a free country, we will have blood-shed, unfortunately some of it accidental. We can only be diligent in our education and safety; and more strongly punish the criminal element rather than putting them back on the street to proliferate.

I have my grandfather's 'LC'.....it is still in very good condition and a shooter. I've shot pheasant out in SD with it just for ol' times sake. I won't shoot anything heavier than a standard trap load of handloaded #7 though. Look forward to passing it on to my son and grandson.

Thanks Bryan, this just happens to be a lady I introduced to shooting, but due to 'other influences' she is getting, I thought I would get some other opinions.

Some of you guys are always thinking big is better but what about the S&W mod. 60?
-
OK, have a friend whose BF insists she gets a Mod 60 with shroud for her personal CC. If it were me, I'd go with the LCR .........what say you?

So if the Post Office is not posted, then one could 'legally' carry to buy a stamp? -
Shotgun barrel threading for choke tubes

I assume this is an older gun/barrel. Why not buy an extra 1100 barrel already threaded? -
I understand your being upset...I would say we all agree this is senseless; a shame and real tragedy. But more laws, or regs is not the answer. We have addressed this before, but a permit is simply the beginning, much like a driver's learner's permit. Mistakes with either a car or a handgun can result in loss of life needlessly. I don't have THE answer, except we all owe it to each other to be responsible gun owners and encourage others to do the same. This includes educational programs and pointing out to others irresponsible gun handling.

This may be one of the most common causes of ND. I'm sure it is part of every CCW class, and if you own a gun one should be very, very familiar with it, especially if you are carrying it! Still every safety rule was violated. Dumb, no excuse, no more laws or rules....we just happen to be surrounded by stupidity.

Gunshot Heard Around the Gun Show

Which, IMO, goes back to the 1911 platform being 'safer' as one also has to disengage the thumb safety. It amazes me the number of surveys I've seen that ask 'when do you take the safety off when presenting on the draw'? and many answer as soon as it clears leather. Which makes it even more amazing that this ND occurred. But I digress, regardless of the platform of modern pistols, the safety mechanism can always be overridden by stupidity. . -
I favor the MP, but I do shoot an XD and a 1911....so far have avoided the Glock fever.

Unfortunately, poor gun handling can be seen at many of the indoor ranges. People loading guns behind the firing lines, bringing a malfunction behind the line, not pointing down range etc. It is everyone's responsibility to politely point safety breeches out to that person at that time. If it is repeated, then simply report to management immediately.
-
The ignorance of many gun owners is just astounding. I've seen it before at gunshops; someone will bring a WTS or WTT gun in fully loaded. We must all strive to be fully aware of safe gun handling, especially in public. We all wind up getting a black-eye.....or worse.

I am relatively new to IDPA as well. There are a bunch of really good shooters; and a bunch of really good people willing to help you. Compete against yourself, don't worry about everyone else. As you grow in experience you will learn what you need as well as what you don't need. Better yourself each time and everything will work out.

The Sigma is a fine, inexpensive gun for self defense. It does have about a 12# trigger, but for their market, that is a much better than a light trigger. If one can develop the trigger control to fire this gun accurately, it will definitely help one to shoot other guns better.

...but cow and horse manure is OK....? ?

The HCP is not a license to speed??? Dang, I better slow down. Just kiddin', with more people now carrying, especially in the South, I'm sure it is an everyday occurrance for the police. Most are fine folks, just like the one that you met. It's the 'one bad apple' that......well you know.

Can see your point. And like most things....it depends. Noticing how you assisted the slide forward in your video when the slide failed to go into full battery. That could also be encountered with the type 3 malfunction clearing.
-
I know there a different ways to skin the cat.....but.......in the type 3 malfunction/clearance part of the video I noticed you would 'sling-shot' the release each time. As the basis of most type 3 mal. is a FTE, which can be from a 'sticking' problem, extra force on the extraction/rearward motion may be needed. Therefore, wouldn't it be better to keep a firm grip on the slide to be able to forceably run the slide forward as well as to be able to add additional force to the rear for each of the 3 racks, than to release and re-grab the slide each time?
