1.   She checked the back as well at least at the Clinton Walmart. Now I'm calling the Clinton Hwy one to see what they've got. Or better yet, I wonder if Gander Mountain will price match if it's not the exact caliber....
2.   That was super informative.   I had found the same rifle, Savage Model 11 Trophy Hunter XP at Walmart for $497. I looked at the rest in the cases but didn't really see any that appeal to me.   I don't plan on changing calibers at all. It will be a tried and true 308 now and forever. But good to know that it's easier on a Savage.   Depressing fact of the morning though is that Walmart does carry the Remington 700 ADL's with Scopes as well for $417 but so far 7mm mag, 30-06, 243 Win, and another caliber. If only I wanted a 30-06.
3. Thank you all for the responses. I've looked through them all and I think I've picked out the top two on the list.   SAVAGE 11 TROPHY HUNTER XP with a Nikon Scope for $460   or   Remington 700 ADL with a scope   The TC Venture got dropped because apparently there's a recall in effect on them right now and I'd have to wait months to get one. So these two feel pretty good. I got to hold the Remington today and it felt good in the hand. They both have adjustable triggers out of the box as well.   So which would you choose?   I can buy the Rem as early as this morning for $501.61 out of the door (Damn it to hell that it's at GanderMountain of all places. Would rather Academy but they don't have a scope on theirs but it's $380 before tax).   Alternatively, I can order the Savage and it will be here in about a week or so for a totaling cost of $505 but again at least a cheap Nikon 3-9 scope.
4.   Doesn't have to be low cost. Just best bang for the buck. I mean the TC Venture I want will cost me $460. I just want to make sure I get a great one because this is unknown territory for me (as far as bolt action rifles). Also, that's $460 with no scope.         Okay. Sounds like I really need to check into Savage. I've just never had any experience with them so completely unknown. Also, their website has more models on it than anything ha ha ha.
5. Which model? How are the triggers? Adjustable out of the box?
6. So it's that time again. What's the best bang for your buck bolt action 308. I've been looking at a Thompson Center Venture series rifle with weathershield and I like it. I hear good things about it but I don't know about much else.   I've heard the Remington 700's are good as well but I want just out of the amazing with no upgrades.   The main purpose for this rifle will be hunting. I'll grab a scope for it as well just not sure which scope yet as I haven't even picked out the rifle. Any more I should consider and please weigh in on what you would purchase.
7.
Unions at it again. While I'm sure there's 2 sides to this story the common theme in stories like this are the Unions. eta: viscero beat me to it.
The only part I know about is that Hostess stated they were closing down 3 offices or something like and initiating an 8% paycut across the board to everyone (Not sure if higher ups are involved) and then the union striked. Well you gotta respect the company though stating that you can either work or look for a new job. Personally, my butt wouldn't have striked in the first place. 8% paycut isn't too bad vs getting paid nothing.
8.
We have to come to a sad realization; America is a "fast food, MTV" society. The Republican party still wants to believe and hold fast to the idea that the same generation that has downloaded and stolen music for 20+ years has integrity and brains to care about issues. The Dems have figured out and accepted the stupidity that our populace is sinking into, and knows how to play it to their advantage. We still think Cronkite and Huntley & Brinkley set a standard for news that remains. Now, it's entertainment news; Colbert, et al. Unless we become more facetious, we will continue to do poorly.
Wow....
Here's a news flash that I would REALLY like to see some attention paid: There are a ton of moderate and left-leaning dems that are pro 2A. The NRA is such a right-wing institution that these folks avoid it like the plague. Sites like TGO have so many loudmouth conservative spouting downright hateful speech about dems that you'll rarely have the opportunity to have a discussion about protecting 2A with people who actually have the ability to sway other moderate dems. 2A is NOT the property of conservatives and yet that is EXACTLY how many republicans act. The thing is, I don't think many conservatives really care about PROTECTING 2A as much as COMPLAINING about liberals. I make it a point to have one positive discussion per day with an open minded democrat. We don't often see eye-to-eye when the conversation is over but I know they leave with a little bit more knowledge than they started with. What I DON'T do is belittle them about their political affiliation and speak of their alleged inferiority. (if your response is that you don't know any open-minded dems, please don't bother responding at all. You're part of the problem but too stupid to realize it) I'm tiring of firearm enthusiast websites who's front page of recent posts are over 50% political whining without some objective thinking. I want to be a part of this community but my patience is wearing thin with a lot of you. I'm hear to learn and share experiences but my willingness to be a positive participant at TGO is almost gone. Edit: My repsonce here could have just as easily been posted in any of the recent rash of anti-liberal, reactionary threads of late. It is not directed at BrazilNuts or any one person in particular.
Well said. I just avoid every political post or when I look through, I actually try to hope it's informative but it's pretty much the same "The liberal media" and "stupid liberals" and bash after bash at just "liberals". No offense but I know plenty of republicans that didn't vote for Romney. Does that make them liberal or did they just not like his views or platform. Eh...it's a losing argument though. The best thing to do is just avoid the posts and stick to talks entirely about firearms. I mean, that's why we all look at this site right?
9.
Just came across one of these so looking for some info. Sig sp2022 in used but like new condition. Pros? Cons? Value? Thanks in advance.
Value is amazing. You can normally find them with a laser for $380 - $400 shipped. And they apparently hold that value, I've seen some for sale used that are over $400. Some guy in Nashville is trying to sell his for $500 for some reason. Without the laser, you can normally find them for $350 - $370 without night sights. For some reason, it's hard finding the model with night sights. Pros: It's a Sig Good DA/SA It has a really smooth trigger Cons: For me, I wish it had a takedown more like the 22x series instead of like a Jericho. Mags are expensive - The best price I've ever seen on them was when Ron Shirk Shooting Supply had them wholesale (he only ships to FFL's) for $10 each and CDNN one time had their mags for $10 each. That's it. Only comes with 1 Mag - Seriously...unless you qualify for Sig's IOP program (first responder, military active or retired, LEO) If you do, they will come with either 2 or 3.
10. Armslist.com is the craigslist for selling firearms. I've purchased 2 firearms from there. Granted the people I've purchased from were a little weird but the transaction was pleasant. As far as meeting place, I would seriously think against asking someone to come to your house to meet you to buy a gun. No offense but there's just too much in that one sentence that screams no to me. I would do so in a public place that's open and full of people. My last purchase was done at a weigels. The one before that at Walmart. Just be sure that know when they get there, they are going to try and haggle you on the price. It's an inevitability. Gunbroker is a bit better as people just auction it but you really don't get the chance to inspect it first you know. A picture is worth a thousand words but doesn't beat actually looking at something.

USPS in Farragut

Most USPS employees don't know all the regs but they aren't willing to look them up either. Glad it got taken care of, if it didn't, I would have said just come down to the one on Weisgarber. The supervisor there knows his regs.
12. Well, if he did acknowledge this offer and give in to it, it means your president is susceptible to bribes. That's what I look for in a leader, the ability to give in to other people for money........ Media is on the side of whoever gives them higher ratings. If you have such disbelief in media, do what I do and read the fact checkers. Facts aren't biased.
13. One guy on there did post an interesting link. http://www.businessi...-control-2012-9 Has a pretty decent quote in there that's great in theory but really hard in practice... Now personally, I think your "restriction" should be over with the moment you get your HCP here in TN. I mean, let's be honest here, if you have a valid HCP, you shouldn't have to have a TICS background check every time you buy a gun. But that's a STATE issue and not one with the presidential race. Really interesting reading.... I don't really care for Joe Bidden though....that guy can go suck an egg.
14. There's too much information missing. The guy doesn't even look banged up in the picture. It doesn't say he was in the truck or anything of the sort. It's just this happened. This guy was arrested for this. That is all.
15. I feel like a keep piece of information is missing....did he confess to a crime or did they just go with the "this was in your truck so you must obviously be guilty" verdict.
