  1. If he is who I think he is, then I've heard he is very good, with reasonable prices.
  2. How much of this show is modern stuff vs. collectibles?
  3. I went yesterday around noon, and quickly remembered why the Expo Center is a much better venue. The place was mobbed, and just trying to get around all the columns was a real pain. Plus, I didn't see anything that was really priced to sell.

    New Mossberg 22lr

I heard about this new rifle on GunTalk this afternoon. They had a Mossberg guy talking about it as an alternative to the more-expensive AR22's on the market. O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. - Firearms, Shotguns, Rifles, Accessories, and Precision Machining
  5. Congrats. Also congrats on the next one you will soon be buying. And probably the one after that
  6. I have the 9 mil carbine, and have shot the heck out of it. The only issue I have had is with mags. Factory mags work fine, but aftermarket ProMags have lots of problems.

    Stoeger

I have a 12 gauge Condor O/U that works just fine.
  8. I have two Del-Ton uppers mated with Doublestar lowers that have never failed me. They feed brass or steel case ammo just fine, which is more than I can say for my Armalite AR. Del-Ton's service is good too, with friendly helpful people. I really don't think you can go wrong with their products.
  9. +1 on the Saiga. Can't go wrong. I also have a couple of cheap WADR-10's that have been great. Unfortunately, not everyone can say the same about their WASR's.
  10. The DupliColor spray paint I'm using is laquer to match existing color. Thanks!
  11. I hope we might have some painting experts here that can give me some advice. I've been working a repainting the roof of my truck using laquer. I sanded, primed, wet-sanded, painted, wet-sanded some more, and now after several coats have the paint where it needs to be. I'm ready to add a couple of coats of laquer clear coat, but before I do that do I need to hit the new paint with rubbing compound? If not, do i need to use compound after the clear coats, or are they OK to just wax after a couple of weeks?? Finally, do I need to wet sand between the clear coats? Thanks for any help I can get!

    AR red dot scope

They are getting hard to find, but the Bushnell Holosight is made by EOTech and costs around $250 or less. They have been discontinued, so you'll have to look for one. I have an Aimshot reflex sight that is OK that but not great. Price was around $100. It broke about a year after I got it, but Aimshot in Atlanta was great about fixing it for free.
  13. You can buy a conversion barel (I have a Storm Lake) and some 9mm mags...and you have a G17. Sometimes you also need to change extractors too, but mine feeds 9mm just fine with the .40 extractor.
  14. There's also an AK section on arf.com, but the previously mentioned forums are much better.
  15. I always thought the kicker was hi-cap mags and pistol grip to make a AK evil and subject to 922r? I don't think the 10-round mags are viewed as hi-caps.

    Flat top AR

Its surprising how quickly the front sight simply disappears when you start shooting. You would think it would get in the way of optics, but it really doesn't.
  17. You'll get lots of different opinions on this. Many, including me, say buy a complete upper, then build the lower using a stripped receiver and parts kit. It will save you several hundred dollars, and you can customize it any way you want. Plus, its a pretty easy job. You should be able to get the whole thing for around $600-$700. I have bought two uppers from Del-Ton (del-ton.com), and both work great. They are mated to Doublestar lowers, which also work fine. I would definitely think about a 16" flat-top upper w/ flip up sights that will accomodate a variety of optic choices. If you decide to buy a complete AR, I would avoid Century. Also Olympic seems to get mixed reviews, though many folks do seem to like them. You can't go wrong with Armalite, Bushmaster, Rock River, Smith, & DPMS. Colt will be above your price range.
  18. +1 on Bushnell Holosight...if you can find one. They have been discontinued and are getting scarce.
  19. I have a TactEdge red/ green dot that is junk. I had it on a AR, and it just beat it to where it was completely unreliable.
  20. I know AimShot gets beat up a lot on quality, but I have to give them a solid +1 on customer service. I have one of their holosights that I broke by over-tightening an adjustment screw. I emailed them, and they replied to send it to them and they would fix it no charge. I sent it to them on Tuesday, and had it back fixed for free on Friday. My only cost was one-way shipping. Thanks AimShot.
  21. Me too. Planning for Saturday, but may get bumped to Sun
  22. I found a Bushnell at Gander Mtn in Knoxville for $249.
