Nah , I still gotta get a P85. The 85 was the first one that started the whole P-Series.

I believe the first one that I owned was the     P89.  Good luck in your continued hunt for the P85.

I found this little orphan the other day at a pawn shop while looking for some metric tools. This one is the first polymer pistol that Ruger made. The previous one I showed here was the second generation P95. This one has the squared trigger guard and no light rail. This one is decock-only which is nice. This one has rode in the floor board of a truck or inside  tool box but shot very little. Lots of wear on the outside but the innards are almost mint.

Good find! Does this one finish the collection?

I look at the end of April before they are fully back up and running.

I had heard that in 11 years they have not had any lead removal.

New email today they are opening the shotgun ranges.  Really disappointed was hoping for rifle and pistol ranges.

The range will reopen for shotgun only beginning Friday Feb 25th, 2022.

I got my first Handgun Permit back in 1992. Yep, that was before the statewide permits. 🙄

I used to shoot IDPA. I think my shooting skills are about as good as they're gonna get for a decrepit old man. I'm too old to be running up and down ranges in classes with a bunch of young bucks.

However, I could use a refresher on the rules and laws of concealed carry and self defense. I have neither the time nor patience to wade through all the current laws. I've considered taking the on-line course for the Concealed Handgun permit. But I don't need the certificate or particularly want to spend the money. Does anyone know of a source for the on-line course that's free?  Other alternatives?

You can take one of the approved online courses for the course cost of between $19 to $39. They are all listed on the state web site.
I don’t know of a free one. If I find one I will post it.

UPDATE AS OF FEB 8, 2022

The range remains temporarily closed. A recent safety inspection revealed the need for extensive repairs to the pistol and rifle berms. As such, the pistol and rifle ranges will remain closed while we plan for and execute the repairs.

We are working diligently to reopen the trap/skeet fields and archery as soon as possible.

The sporting clays and 5-stand will likely take more time to reopen, but it should be operational later this spring.

    We appreciate your continued patience.

    I'm finally back.

Here in Bartlett my power went out at about 9:30am thurs morning. It came back about 1:30, But went out again at 4:00pm. I have lanterns and fired up the gas fireplace. Funny thing is that I've lived in this house 32 years and I doubt those gas logs have been turned on a half dozen times. But I sure was glad to have them. I stayed warm and toasty. All in all I did quite well considering.

Power came back on around 9:00pm Thurs and all is good. 👍

The streets never did ice up. I drove around the area some and lots of limbs and full trees are down. It was a mess! On Friday I heard on the news that 350 trees were reported down. That's just what was reported. No telling how many people have limbs or parts of trees down. Some streets were completely blocked. I lost a couple of large limbs, but no damage.

I've mentioned my disabled friend before. She lives in the Frayser section of Memphis. Her power is still out now. I went and got her and her dogs Fri morning. They've been staying in my guest room ever since. Supposedly her power should be back by midnight tonight. But no promises. They're saying some folks may be out until the end of the week.

For me the biggest PITA has been my cable was out. No TV and no internet for 5 days. It just came back on a little while ago. 🙄

My brother lives in Bartlett, the house was my mom’s. A giant oak tree in the front yard dropped some big limbs. Apparently it was too close for comfort. That tree is finally scheduled for a trimming. He said nothing about the huge old hickory trees in the backyard.

Just sharing that one of my local car tuners at the ripe old age of 35 just passed away after a 20 day battle with Covid.  No underlying conditions...about 40lbs overweight...not vaccinated.  Leaves behind his 7yr old daughter and wife.  Be safe out there; life comes at you fast.

Sorry to hear that, my condolences, a terrible loss for a young family.

  8. Exercise and keeping track of what you eat can help with maintaining current weight or losing pounds.  Just adjust your calorie goals.
Two apps help and they are completely free.

Under Armour app Mapmyrun or walk or whatever you choose, log your exercise, it will sync with the app  MyFitnessPal. (you log your daily meals). Set a weight loss goal based on your exercise level and calorie level.

If you try these apps and stick to it you will see results. Make sure you check with your doc before starting an exercise or weight loss program.

If all else fails consult a weight loss physician.

I used to run or jog for exercise when I was younger. I mostly walk or bike now.  I have had pretty good results using the two apps. You can exercise all you want but if you don’t track your food intake you won’t have much success.

I agree, it's very hard to bury a best friend so I found out about getting them cremated and the last 2 I lost I have cremated and they are still with me on top of my TV console in urns. I can thank many people here for being able to have Kasey cremated because at the time I could not afford to get it done and many folks here stepped up and helped me. I had Kasey almost 18 years. Then I was not sure I wanted another one and this one found me and her name was Darbby and I became very attached to her quick and had her about 5 years and she had health issues when I got her and finally she developed Kidney Failure and I had her put down and this time I was financially able to have her cremated so she is on the TV Console next to Kasey. If there comes a time for Rosie She will be up there on the TV Console also.

I totally get this, my lab is on the fire place mantle. It brings me some comfort to know he is nearby.

They do not live long enough. I quit when I realized i could not bury another friend.

I felt the same way after I lost my big yellow lab 3 and half years ago, I felt so much grief and pain. I told my wife I couldn’t do it again. But my wife couldn’t live without a dog in the house. So we adopted a puppy from animal rescue, she has brought us great joy especially these last couple years.

We've been kicking around for years the idea of getting one of those storm shelters that are put in your garage floor slab. I think we are going to move forward on this as I don't see us moving anytime soon. Does anyone have one? How do you like it? Any advice or local installer recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Like many folks, I felt the last tornadoes were too close for comfort. I haven’t seen a swarm of tornadoes like that in a long time.
I am looking at several vendors.
I lived in Oklahoma for quite a few years, when I was a kid we always went to our neighbors basement.
After seeing the aftermath of so many tornadoes, I just don’t think riding it out in the bathroom is best idea.
I want a professional shelter.  I looked at Fains in Jackson and a couple venders in Nashville.  Haven’t made my mind up.  I like the convenience of a steel safe room but I want to make sure it’s up to testing standards.
In ground away from the house at zero dark thirty makes a little slower to get too.

  12. A long night, tornado raced by just north of us. No major damage in my immediate area near the Kentucky/Tennessee stateline.  Sirens went off several times. I followed the tornado tracks on news 2 on line.  I am thankful it missed us.

My heart goes out to those that were in the path of the tornado.

  13. Watch the “Long way up” and Long way down” series you will see electric motorcycles and Rivian electric trucks travel the length of North and South America.  Good scenery if nothing else and you see some electric vehicles in all conditions.  Granted they had lots of $$$ sponsors and a big support team.

  14. I look at the electric vehicles as just another option for transport. There is some practicality  to having one especially when the next pipeline breaks cutting off our supplies or the lunatic’s shut down the Persian gulf again.
If you are a multiple vehicle family wouldn’t hurt to have one in the mix.

I don’t think they are going to save the world, because every lithium power pack is made with Chinese coal.

I currently have a gas burning Ford truck and my wife drives a Honda CR-V. When her car gets worn out, I could see an electric car replacement.
Now if they ever get hydrogen motors going, that’s going to save the planet!
