  1. I had one of these years ago. They are very reliable and shoot most any type of ammo. I got rid of it because I did get tired of all the safeties built into the design which are a pain in the ass. I’ve known some people that had frame crack issues along the slide area after many 1000s of rounds, but that’s not likely to ever be an issue for most folks.
  2. You finally said something I can agree with, and is in line with what the others have been trying to tell you. Maybe this is what you meant to say from the get go, but it’s not what you were saying...thus all the push back. A few years ago it was much easier, but with the policy changes by UPS and FedEx, it’s much more difficult now. Of course many gun dealers have made it harder with their ridiculous transfer fees, but there are still quite a few FFL dealers that are fair with their fees and shipping costs if you look for them.
  3. The Walther PK380 is a nice little pistol. It's big enough that a lot of the .380 recoil is minimized, and racking the slide is very easy. My daughter used mine several years ago when she got her HCP, and my Niece recently chose it as the first pistol that she ever shot. It's a very different magazine release, but works well once you get used to it.
  4. It's a combination of things like that and the upright rifle stacking with butts in the snow during winter military exercises.
  5. Nice rifles! It looks like the stocks have both been refinished with a semi-gloss finish, but they are still beautiful guns. I've been tempted to lightly refinish the stocks on my K-11 and one of my K-31s, but I haven't, even though the butts of the stocks show significant wear. I do have an armory refurbished K-31 that's a safe queen though, so that's another reason why I haven't touched the others.

    Ruger LCP

I've got a Shield too, but I mostly pocket carry, so I still prefer the smaller 380s. And you are correct about what an original used LCP would currently bring...not much. I actually got rid of mine several years ago and got close to what I paid for it then. I just recently bought the LCP-II, and have been using a S&W Bodyguard 380 in the interim, which is also a nice pistol.

    CMP 1911’s

I hate the cumbersome CMP purchase process for these 1911s and the prices, but I'll probably succumb and send in a packet. I carried one when I was in the USMC, so I've always wanted an authentic GI version. I've got several 1911s that I shoot already, so this will mostly be a safe queen if I get one.
  8. I'll have to check on getting mine replaced too. I never used the laser much anyway, but if I can get it replaced for free....

    Ruger LCP

If you bought the original LCP, I'd recommend getting rid of it and getting the later version with better sights...or better yet get an LCP-II. I was an early adopter of the LCP (as you can probably tell from my avatar and my forum name), but I always hated the sights. The trigger was something you had to get used to, but if you shot it enough, you could overcome that. The sights, on the other hand, were always a challenge for me...they are so low profile that in low light and/or shooting a dark target, my older eyes were challenged to find them. I finally upgraded to the LCP-II for much better sights and a better trigger.
  10. Marshall's Mouseguns site was the reason that a subpart of my collection consists of quite a few mouseguns. There is another site that is still somewhat active that has a lot of info on mouseguns and so-called "Saturday-Night Specials. If anyone is interested, here is the site link. The site covers a lot more than the ones mentioned in the site title. http://www.bryco-jennings-jimenezarms.com/forum/
  11. This is really going to have more of an impact on the Field and Stream stores that Dick’s owns. However, I think this doubling down now on their actions of a few years ago could eventually lead to their demise. I could be wrong of course...I’ve been wrong at least once before. 12. The morons running Dick’s apparently think appeasing one segment of their customers will more than make up for alienating another group. This will likely mark the beginning of the end for this company, but management is too stupid to understand that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. That’s a nice one. Since you liked it, you should give some others a try. Oban 14 has gotten to be around $70 - $80, so there are many fine single malt choices in that price range, and quite a few that are substantially cheaper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. You should probably stick with Speyside region scotch for now then, but be careful because some of them will occasionally have a special bottling that has some peat. For sherry finished or matured scotch, I'd recommend trying regular Macallan 12, Balvenie Doublewood 12, Glenmorangie 12, Aberlour 12, Glengoyne 12 and Glenmorangie Lasanta. For a very reasonably priced blended malt, you may want to give Monkey Shoulder a try...you can usually find it for less than $30. It's a little young, but for the price, it's pretty darn good...not sherry finished though, so it may not be in your wheelhouse.
  15. Kilchoman is an Islay distillery and most, if not all of their scotch is peated. If you haven’t worked your way up to liking peat smoke, you may not like any of their stuff. Caol Ila is a bit milder peated scotch that you might like better, but you may just want to give Johnnie Walker Black a try to see if you like lightly peated whisky. JWB is a blended scotch, so it’s not the same as a single malt scotch, but I believe it has a small amount of Caol Ila in it to give you a sense of peat without it dominating the taste profile. I believe all of the scotches that you indicated that you’ve had and liked are not always aged in sherry, wine etc. I’m pretty sure that the entry level scotches (10 and 12 year olds) for those brands are all just aged in used bourbon casks. However, those brands do all have older or specialty bottles that are finished in other spirit or wine casks. For instance, Glenmorangie Lasanta is the original 10 yr Glenmorangie that was matured in ex-bourbon casks that has been further finished in sherry casks...can’t remember how long it stays in the sherry cask after it’s dumped from the bourbon cask.
  16. I did the scotch thing when I was younger too...just didn’t have any of the truly good stuff. Now that I’m semi-retired, I have more time and opportunity to re-explore things. Have fun and enjoy whatever you choose.
  17. I didn’t say that you should stop drinking bourbon! Hell, I love bourbon too, and still drink more of it than anything else, but I enjoy exploring other things including scotch, and now I’ve gotten into “real” rums...not the sugar added liqueur put out by most of the big boys that they call rum.
  18. I believe that there are actually more non-peated scotches than peated ones. Give Macallan 12yo , Balvenie Doublewood 12yo, Glenmorangie Lasanta or Glendronach 12yo a try. These are all sherry cask finished or matured in sherry casks and have no smoked peat.
  19. [emoji23] I used to think that too, but had one given to me a few years ago that started me down the rabbit hole of scotch exploration. There are a lot of good scotches out there and they are easier to find than some of the more sought after after bourbons.
  20. My model 39 is a safe queen. I’m not sure I’d ever be willing to part with it, but then again, I’ve also learned that its foolish to say never. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. It's been one of my favorite bourbons for several years. If I find one on the shelf for $65 or less, I'm usually a buyer. I've seen more this past year than in prior years, but some of it has been significantly overpriced. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. For a nice Christmas Gift, I'd consider a Wild Turkey Master's Keep 17 year or Decades. They come in a beautiful presentation box and the bottle is very well done with a flying turkey molded/etched into the glass, and it's pretty good bourbon too. They generally sell for $150, and they can actually be found on many store shelves. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  25. Some good ryes there. You might also want to add Pikesville Rye to your list. A good premium rye without the premium price. For a budget rye, give Dickel Rye a shot. For very little money, it's one of my budget friendly favorites. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
