1. I just did a review of my insurance coverages and went through the same situation to make sure my guns were covered. As Hersh suggested look into Collect Insure and also historic firearms through Eastern Insurance, their minimum is $125 for 35k in coverage. Both are cheaper than Armscare. Same concept as the Armscare just keep pictures and serial numbers handy in case anything ever happens. I ending up getting Collect Insure as I don't need 35k in coverage.
2. eBay is another source for key fobs. Just make sure the numbers match. I couldn't program our Pontiac using the method found on the forums and had to get the dealer to program it. I called around and found one that did it for $45. If you decide to go the dealer route and have more than one key fob make sure to give them both to the dealer to reprogram because programming the new one will make the old one not work.
3. This morning only the slow lane had been cleared. This evening on my way home it was fine. I live in Cookeville and work in Smithville. Side roads are a different story though, all we got was sleet so they are a solid sheet of ice.
4. Walmart had the iPhone 6 for $129 and it was $127 at Sams Club. The plus was on sale as well. I did not see how long the deal was good for. I picked one up about a week ago.
5. Agreed. I graduated from Ooltewah in 08, it was rapidly declining for the reasons mentioned by frankmako. Many of the teachers left Ooltewah for East Hamilton. Ooltewah is a great area to live but, as others have said traffic is becoming a problem. I believe the Soddy schools are better than Hixson. I would look at the Apison and Soddy areas.
6. We just bought a house in Cookeville and the appraisal was $450. I'm not sure if the price varies by area, but I'd imagine it wouldn't a whole lot.
7. I was in Benton's a few weeks ago, they had plenty of Ruger BX-25 mags for $75 as well as Glock mags for $75. The 33 round Glock mags were $125 from what I could tell, they had them stuck behind the counter. I saw some WWB 40S&W for $70 for 100 rounds.   Maybe that's why I've never bought anything from them, I can't afford it.
8.
They DO NOT buy their guns directly from the manufacturer, at least not most of them. They might get a few special runs but if it is a run of the mill firearm it comes from a distributor. Go into any Walmart and ask to see their distributor catalog. They have a catalog with every single gun they have or can get in that catalog. It used to be Lipsey's up until a few years ago but I have not really dug into who is supplying Walmart these days but it most definitely is a distributor and not directly from the manufacturers. Dolomite
I worked at Walmart in sporting goods until May of this year, our distributer is Sports South. Just about everything except the AR came from Sports South. The ARs were sent by home office, we never knew when or what brand was coming until ups/FedEx dropped it off. They were about the only guns that came from the manufacturer. 9.
thanks for the feedback, this is actually going to be for a lady. Seemed to me the grip on the Smith might have been a bit smaller. Opinions on having a night sight installed? I think maybe the LCR is the only one with that option.
The LCR is available with night sights and crimson trace laser grips. It depends on which model Smith your interested in as far as night sights and the laser grips. My wife preferred the LCR over the Smith 442 and 642 so, that's what I got for her. I recommend taking her with you and have her hold several brands/models to see which she likes best. Wouldn't hurt to rent a couple at the range either.
10. For those looking for a deal on a weapon light, the Streamlight TLR-1S is on sale for $93.99 for today only at MidwayUSA. After today it goes to $103.99 until 11/26 which is still $20 less than the $123.99 normal price. They are having a Black Friday Deals Week and this is one of the daily specials. Here's the link if your interested http://www.midwayusa.com/product/699580/ and the link to the Weekly Deals http://www.midwayusa.com/black-friday-sale
11. This week MidwayUSA is having a Black Friday Week. They have a few items on special each day. The link below shows what will be on sale when. Just figured I'd give everyone a heads up since we're all looking for deals this time of year. I would assume you could still use coupon codes as well to mike the prices even better. 12. When I was going to Tech I had quite a few friends that used the range. I never got the opportunity to go with them. It's nice from what I understand but, pretty expensive if I remember.
13. http://www.herald-citizen.com/view/full_story/20624176/article-Mom-arrested-for-taking-gun-into-school?instance=most_recommended Here is the link to the story from the Cookeville paper. It goes into a little more detail than the other story that was posted.
14. The instructor should have given you the yellow slip saying you passed the class that day. I would be giving whoever you took the class from a call. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
15. I worked at the Walmart in Algood,TN for 1 year in sporting goods, until this May. Never heard of "secured freight". I helped unload the trucks from time to time when they were short handed. The ammo came in just like everything else, pretty much thrown on the truck. The only things that actually came as pallets were items like dog food and displays, everything else was loose. Ammo came by the case and they have a box that came with multiple boxes of ammo which was packed by someone at the warehouse. Ours came from Hopkinsville, KY. That multiple box could have 2 boxes of 9mm WWB and random rifle rounds thrown in it, we never knew. Sometimes it would just be a single box inside that larger box. The sporting goods manager, assaistant managers, and the store manager can put in an order for ammo. I don't know about the limits though. The managers would place the order usually by case quantity, just depended on what the system allowed. Our guns came from Sports South and the AR guns were orded by home office, they usually came from the manufacturer. I'm not sure if the ammo came from Sports South as well though. There was never a certain day we got ammo. The order was sent to the warehouse, it was then put on the truck and sent to the store. The truck gets unloaded starting about 5pm, they put everyting on a conveyer and sort it by department. If there is a tag for the ammo, any employee with a gemini (scanner gun) can scan the tag and tell if it is on order and how many. The status of the order was: on order, at warehouse, in transit. In transit means it has left the warehouse and is on the way to the store. We only had the federal 9mm and 40sw 100 round packs when I was working. They only come 4 to a case and usually took a while to come in. Some stores may be different than this but, this is how it was at the store I worked at.
16. I just got my supertuck last week. The site says 4-6 weeks, but it took 6 1/2 for me to get mine. It was well worth the wait though.
17. Burgan, when you go to purchase your handgun I wouldn't get it from Outdoor Junction. Their prices are just too high compared to other places. Check out S&R Guns in Algood. The owner Steve is a good guy to deal with. You might also want to try Shooters Depot down in Chattanooga if your down that way sometime. Nice indoor range and they have good prices. I carry a subcompact XD 40, it's a great gun. But then again it's all about what your comfortable with. Good luck with your search.
