Hey Smith, very cool K6! I don't know if you remember my little Ruger .357 from our days at the store, but I still carry it more often than anything else. Congrats on the stellar new revolver that'll always get the job done.

This. And fortunately, we just might have a majority of them who are willing to do that job. The Bruen decision begs the question - at the time of the founding, was any whole class of guns widely outlawed because you could fire them quickly?

The Crimson Trace feature is neat, but really it's a belly gun. Works reliably. I think a safety on this kind of handgun is overkill, but if you use a good holster you can leave the safety off. FWIW, ball ammo is what I prefer in a .380 for max penetration.

@ Darrell - Even in overalls, etc. you can wear a gun belt and holster. It just sits on your hips instead of on belt loops.
A U.S. Army general issue riggers belt and inexpensive drop-leg holster might be just the thing.

The problem with asking government to make responsible decisions with finances is that they can require people to give more revenue in the future to cover whatever costs are chosen.
In a private company, the revenue is what you have and you have to work within those limitations. It requires a bit more ingenuity.
Consider the Victory Memorial Bridge in Nashville. It has a flex lane whose direction changes depending on time of day (i.e. which way most people need to travel). That provides the value of two lanes of traffic but at the cost of only one.
We don't need more fees and taxes. We need more ingenuity.

For someone who has learned the basics of firearm safety, I think a .22 or .38 revolver with a 3-4" barrel is a great first handgun to buy. They're simple to operate, can be inexpensive to buy, and don't require complex maintenance.
The harder question is which gun is the last one to buy. I still haven't figured that one out.

Up for sale is a red-brown leather holster by Simply Rugged. It is for a 6" barrel .357 and has a thumb strap with snap. If memory serves, this is the "Cattleman" model.
I carried a Ruger GP100 in it crossdraw on several hikes and it worked well. $50 cash in Sumner County or I can ship it at your expense.

We probably overdo the presents in my family, but like Lumber Jack I sort of revel in my eight-year-old's excitement. (This may be her last year of all the Santa stuff.) Anyway, this week my daughter has been too keyed up to fall asleep, so we read aloud at bedtime.
This week we've read chapters 2 & 3 of Luke over several nights and we talk about it - what's a census, what's the heavenly host, etc. For me it's the privilege of a lifetime.
I'm happy, blessed, and grateful. Wishing all the same to you guys. Merry Christmas!

I've had some experience with several of their revolvers, though not a Judge. The trigger pull was ok and the slight cylinder wiggle in full lockup was not enough to give me concern. Never had a light strike with them and after range testing to check reliability and pattern carry ammo, I had no reservations about carrying them.
A new Charter Arms or Rock Island or a used Ruger would also be workable revolvers at a similar price point, depending on what caliber you want.
ETA: I didn't realize they moved production to Georgia. Eager to hear what others have to say about recently purchased Tauruses.

A gate is an excellent deterrent and the setup described above will dissuade most troublemakers.
One of the best driveway setups I've seen was an iron double gate that opens inwards toward the house. Park a truck laterally behind that and no one is driving through, period.

Years ago I became friends with an older widow with no kids. When she found out I'm into guns, she gave me her late husband's beautiful double barrel shotgun.
Thanks to her, my daughter's first memory about guns won't be some tragic news story, etc. Instead, it will be that beautiful over-under hanging above our mantle at home.
Anyway, firearms make really special gifts and I think it's cool how they impact the giver and the recipient.

Hopefully nobody else was hurt. Can't believe some of the things that happen now. Nashville and Memphis are one thing, but Murfreesboro?
Also, whatever armored car guards get paid these days, it's not enough for what they do.

I've never had qualms with selling or trading, especially when there was a specific purpose I felt a new gun would fill (which others I already owned couldn't accomplish). And I think downsizing itself is a specific purpose that way - fewer to clean, remain accountable for, etc.
For me the only situation where I feel differently is regarding inherited firearms. I would probably starve sooner than I would sell those.
