  1. If this stuff is really of interest to you start by reading every column on http://www.realclearmarkets.com going back a week & you'll see part of what I'm talking about. Then readother articles on those linked to sites & it'll really get scary when you realize economists are about as divided as political parties and there's about 3-4 main schools of thought & they don't have a lot of overlap and different areas subscribe to different thoughts. It's worse than just keynes vs the austrians. Its more like 6 different branches of libertarians lol. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
  2. That's part of the push from both sides to move govt measuring to chained cpi, to offset the 'baskets' depreciating value. It's getting headway with ss & medicare entitlements but will be applicable to a much broader aspect if adopted. It will prolong the inevitable of the day of reckoning. Our market's current bubble is due in part to the fed qe1,2,3,infinitum plus dodd-frank which isn't even finalized in all its' rules & regs but it makes certain moves basically insured and now our too left to fail industries are booming. Notice all the earnings are down, profits are down & efficiencies are being wrung for every drop, that's why there's no hiring but layoffs instead. Which in turn is drawing down on a consumer driven economy. Now that 20% of our gdp in healthcare is being governmentalized look for that sector to further sink. Our debt to gdp is an issue but the biggest issue is a worldwide currency problem 40 years in the making with disparities, inflation & parlor tricks of accounting. It is truly a macro econ scope problem & we arejust given dribbles of the micro issues here stateside with occassional tidbits trickling in from overseas. The entire calculation process of gdp is flawed because of so many component imports from other countries along the supply chain. China/australia are presently working to have direct currency exchange bypassing the dollar & china/russia won't be far behind. The eurozone is in red hot troubles and will undergo either fundamental change within the next 24months or dissolve & breakdown into regional currencies once more. Import/export markets of goods&debt have passed a tipping point with outliers of the US being larger consumers than domestically. It's a perilous situation that cannot be resolved in the next 3.5 years with this admin or bernanke. IF the worldwide financial hemorrhaging can be abated from US policy. My humble opinion which is presented without any nobel awards or extra letters behind my name: go over to the survival forum & start readin up on that big list of survival links I posted. It's all a delicate spider web that is gonna have a rhesus monk turd drop through the center. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
  3. Actually it was a black couple probably in their late 40s, early 50s. What wasn't tac gear was biker leather along with their OCing. It was a strange day that was, I won 100bucks on a 2buck scratch off too. (There were motorcycles out front). Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
  4. I saw a husband & wife all tac'd out in 5.11 lookin gear with the badges like daves just put up, on bright gold chains on their necks with seriously... radio ear pieces too. I had to leave immediately before someone shot them for gp. A buddy of mine went through his hcp class w/the sheriff(iirc?) in his little town or county, can't remember. And sheriff was giving them badges out as part of the completion & told them he expected to see folks wearin them to deter criminals in his area & avoid mwag calls if they were OCing or shirts exposed. It was hard & took a min because this koolaid apparently had a bunch of sugar in it but we had to have a discussion right then & there. Friends don't let friends wear permit badges. 6. yeah I read about it this morning, technically it sounds like he got it while in China then just got treatment in Taiwan but apparently it's especially virulent compared to the H1 or H5 with the mammalian strain. given that the temps have been in the 50/60s for highs it may HOPEfully reduce the replication/mutation rates and reduce the risk as the temps transition into 70/80s.
  7. Hi hendo2a! Not sure what part of MI you are in or what part of TN you're coming to in May. You didn't specify if you were flying or driving. If you're flying I've got no info for you, I avoid it myself. If you are driving I would highly recommend looking at http://www.handgunlaw.us/ for information on the states in your route. For instance if I recall correctly, in Ohio, if you were stopped for a traffic violation, you must immediately inform the officer you are legally armed. In Kentucky, open carry is prohibited but unlike Ohio or TN, businesses posting signs of 'no firearms, etc.' do not bear the force of law. In Illinois, your firearms needs to be unloaded & cased, separate from ammunition or you need to be connected like the mob. I'd recommend avoiding Illinois but if you're in Grand Rapids heading to Memphis it would probably add a lot of time.
  8. According to http://www.dumblaws.com/laws/united-states/tennessee that sir would be illegal every day as would interracial marriages still be illegal plus other things. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2

  10. can't buy beer from 3a-6a mon-sat/ 3a-noon sun. Though it derives from the blue laws (blame the methodists too not just the baptists) the weekday prohibition is hard to rescind "in th interest of the kids (&commuters)". At least here in nashville. I know most of sumner co was that way except ~2-3 stores (I think including the one dlm listed). and I think its either fairview or dickson out 40w has a store that starts at 10a sun instead of 12. I can't recall. There may be variances in county/city ordinances. Do we still have dry counties in TN? I don't pay much attention but my father inlaw in KY is always goin on bout restaurants over in the wet county that r great. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
  11. I sometimes get frustrated by the fact that republicans will eat their own sometimes with a scary quickness meanwhile democrats will line up lockstep behind people that say the most ridiculous, unconstitutional & absurd things. Then I remember conservatives actually have a principled ideology & are generally logically consistent. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2

  13. & he leans to the buffet first. Folks don't be surprised here. New england republican politician are mostly liberals. A few can be called moderates. That was one of the problems with romney, remember he had a gun ban too. People liked christie for his brash in your face approach, found it refreshing. I've met a dozen big italian boys make him look like a sissy though but it's all imagery for the libs so that's how a republican gets elected up there. Bear in mind, a good chunk of their populations wants this legislation to make themselves feel safe. Bunch of delusional cuckolded totalitarians-in-waiting. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2

  16. That's an interesting tie-in with their forum & reward points to their store. Some of our users with 5000+ posts here would be racking up the points at 25pts/post. They do appear to have a dearth of information, thanks.
  17. The Patriot Act expands all these exceptions to the probable-cause requirement. Section 215 of the act permits the FBI to go before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court for an order to search for "any tangible things" connected to a terrorism suspect. The order would be granted as long as the FBI certifies that the search is "to protect against international terrorism or clandestine intelligence activities [spying]." But the FBI would not need to meet the stronger standard of probable cause. The Patriot Act now authorizes this court to issue search orders directed at any U.S. citizen who the FBI believes may be involved in terrorist activities. Such activities may, in part, even involve First Amendment protected acts such as participating in non-violent public protests. In Section 215, "any tangible things" may include almost any kind of property--such as books, documents, and computers. The FBI may also monitor or seize personal records held by public libraries, bookstores, medical offices, Internet providers, churches, political groups, universities, and other businesses and institutions. The Patriot Act prohibits third parties served with Section 215 orders such as Internet providers and public librarians to inform anyone that the FBI has conducted a search of their records. Section 216 of the Patriot Act extends pen-trap orders to include e-mail and web browsing. The FBI can ask Internet service providers to turn over a log of the web sites a person visits and the addresses of e-mail coming to and from the person's computer. Another area of concern is Section 213 of the Patriot Act. It authorizes so-called "sneak- and-peek" searches for all federal criminal investigations. When applying for a search warrant, officers may show that there is "reasonable cause to believe that providing immediate notification . . . may have an adverse result." If the judge approves, then the FBI can delay notifying a citizen about the search for a "reasonable period." Thus, the FBI may search a citizen's home or business in secret. The FBI says these searches may be necessary to prevent the destruction of evidence or to keep from jeopardizing an ongoing secret investigation.
  18. Exigent Circumstances that was the term I couldn't remember that is used for the no knock entries for suspected murderers, drug dealers, etc.
  19. So if this was a suspect that had shot some people robbing a bank I think a lot of the points raised here would be valid. Since they have declared him a terrorist however, I imagine that they have some piece of legislation in place that permits them to suspend your 4th amendment rights in order to conduct their search, ya know, in the interest of national security. Around noon the twitter sphere seemed to alight, slightly, with people starting to become agitated at the 'lockdown'. I told my wife early this morning they have basically declared a de facto martial law-lite without using that language. In this situation, I personally wouldn't care too strongly about their desire to search. Id feel more restless with the 'suggestion' to stay indoors. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
  20. My reservations about rubio began with his disastrous 'response' to the state of the union. While the content was ok, and that's overlooking his seeming paradoxes of decrying big gov't while providing examples of how big gov't helped him & his. In the court of public opinion, he didn't engender support from mods, independents or libs. My reservations were cemented during Rand's filibuster. Paul quoted from a dearth of libertarian & conservative commentators. Cruz quoted many conservative founders & justices. Both spoke eloqently & intelligently. Rubio on the other hand quoted pop culture icons like jayz & at one point made a nonsensical point which he acknowledged was meaningless. He was somewhat halting & inarticulate. Even freshman Tim Scott addressing the senate for the 1st time was more statesmanlike than rubio. I cautioned a conservative friend not to hop on the rubio bandwagon a while back & it appears the prudence was wise indeed. I have no doubt he would not perform well against a smart lib in a televised debate. This was evidenced by him this weekend on all the Sunday shows adopting the language of the left & calling them undocumented immigrants a half dozen times on different shows. That's the fastest way to lose the argument. No I'm afraid he is not the next great hope for the republican party. Whether he can be a successful conservative 2nd string will remain to be seen. Given his heritage & his family history I can somewhat lessen my condemnation of him for possessing such misguided opinions & being blinded to the reality of the problems. Regardless though I hardly think he's fit to run for pres, I would be hesistant to see him as a vp even, I would see it as a tactical move. I like cruz. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
  21. So I've noticed that this particular subforum doesn't really have but a few lists of site resources so I scanned through some of the posts and sifted out a few links & contributed a 'few' of my own. I apologize if I left out your favorite supplier, blogger, or be-all-end-all site of knowledge. There are tons of pages of info out there. This list is by no means complete. Please understand that many individuals that provide online resources for survival, primitive living, homesteading, natural living, etc. are either self funded or maintain their sites from donations, sponsors & click programs etc. Do not be surprised to find occasional dead links, defunct 404s, etc.. Bear in mind some of these 'bloggers' aren't necessarily very indoorsy so updates may not be the most timely. I have no affiliations or personal connections with individuals operating any of these sites and they are listed solely for your entertainment purposes. Material you find may be contradictory with other survival/primitive/natural living sites so please use caution. Some few of these sites have 'pay content or product' and on the supply/gear sites prices may be wildly out-of-market so please perform your own research before purchasing. All that being said you really have no excuse to not learn yourself some facts... especially with the 150+ bloggers listed at the end providing daily updates of their individual experiences.   FEMA http://www.ready.gov CDC http://emergency.cdc.gov/ American Red Cross http://www.redcross.org/prepare LDS Another Voice Of Warning https://www.ldsavow.com/PrepManualGeneral.html Mother Earth http://www.motherearthnews.com/ Equipped To Survive http://www.equipped.org/ Steve's pages military field and training manuals http://www.stevespages.com/page7c.htm firearms manuals http://stevespages.com/page7.htm Survival Blog http://survivalblog.com/ Pole Shift - General Survival http://www.pssurvival.com/ Captain Dave's Survival Center http://www.survival-center.com/ TEOTWAWKI Blog http://teotwawkiblog.blogspot.com/ SHTF Blog http://www.shtfblog.com/ SHTF School http://shtfschool.com/ Survivalist Boards http://www.survivalistboards.com/ Offgrid Survival http://offgridsurvival.com/ Backwoods Home Mag http://www.backwoodshome.com/ Woods Monkey http://www.woodsmonkey.com/ American Preppers http://americanpreppersnetwork.com/ Wildwood Survival http://wildwoodsurvival.com/index.html Foraging Texas http://www.foragingtexas.com/ DirtTime http://dirttime.com/ Middle Tennessee Preppers http://middletennesseepreppers.com/ Primitive Ways http://www.primitiveways.com/ Woodland Survival http://ridgerunnersurvival.tripod.com/ National Center for Home Food Preservation http://nchfp.uga.edu/index.html Annies Remedy - Medicinal Herbs Listing http://www.anniesremedy.com/chart.php Survival IQ http://www.survivaliq.com/ Backpack Gear Test http://www.backpackgeartest.org/ Living Primatively http://livingprimitively.com/ Simple Survival http://www.simplesurvival.net/ Nature Skills http://www.natureskills.com/ Backdoor Survival http://www.backdoorsurvival.com/ Survival Mastery http://www.survivalmastery.com/ Wilderness Survival http://www.wilderness-survival.net/ Survival Cache http://survivalcache.com/ Boy Scout Guides http://www.inquiry.net/ Army Field Manuals http://www.enlisted.info/field-manuals/ Skills for Wild Lives http://www.skillsforwildlives.com/ Survival Ebooks http://www.survivalebooks.com/usmilitarymanuals.html Survival Topics http://www.survivaltopics.com/ Israeli Home Front Command http://www.oref.org.il/International/14-en/PAKAR.aspx Survival Resources http://www.survivalresources.com/ Wild Woman Outdoors http://www.wildwomanoutdoors.com/ SurvivalX http://www.survivalx.com/ Other resources & retail stores specializing in outdoors/camping/survival etc. gear: http://beprepared.com/ http://www.campingsurvival.com/ http://homestead.org/NewIndexes/Directory.htm http://dadsoutdooradventures.blogspot.com/ http://www.majorsurplus.com/ http://nativetech.org/ http://www.campmor.com/ http://www.selfrelianceillustrated.com/ http://www.survival.com/ http://www.twowolvesoutdoor.com/ http://americanbushman.blogspot.com/ http://www.ssurvival.com/ http://www.menoutdoors.com/ http://www.primitiveskillslinks.com/ http://www.mredepot.com/servlet/StoreFront http://www.mreinfo.com/ http://www.theakforum.net/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=33 http://preppergearauctions.com/index.php http://www.thesurvivalexpert.co.uk/ http://www.backwoodsmanmag.com/ http://yellowstonetrading.com/ http://www.mrssurvival.com/ http://www.cd3wd.com/data/index.htm http://www.adventuremedicalkits.com/ http://www.adventuremedicalkits.com/documents/Comprehenive%20Guide%20Wilderness.pdf http://www.acsim.army.mil/readyarmy/ http://vikingpreparedness.blogspot.com/ http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/maps.htm http://keekles.org/~bryan/Downloads/TEOTWAWKI/Survival/ http://canteenshop.com/id76.html http://www.survivalcenter.com/index.html http://www.military.com/Content/MoreContent1/?file=cw_civildefense http://www.survivalring.org/ http://www.themodernsurvivalist.com/ http://hesperian.org/books-and-resources/ http://www.usgs.gov/pubprod/ http://www.outdoorpodcast.com/ http://www.jonsbushcraft.com/ http://www.dansdepot.com/   SurvivalTop50 bloggers http://www.survivaltop50.com/ Bloggers 51-166 http://www.survivaltop50.com/runners-up/ Update: edited to be navigable in Tapatalk

  23. This is the absolute wrong approach. Conservatives cannot out entitle bribe the progressives, it's the progressives' platform. Conservatives cannot keep trying to appeal to demographic voting blocks on tailored, pollrated messaging, they will become as emotionally based & devoid of logical consistency as the progressives. Conservatives cannot ever win the established mainstream media echo chamber's good graces. It hasn't worked since the introduction of color tv in 1951 why do people think it will begin to work now. Conservatives cannot continue to adopt the language of the progressives to debate the issues. Every republican presidential nominee that has pandered like the democrats has been solidly trounced and those few that have won continue to win by narrower margins because the consultants and beltway mentality dictates that they fight like democrats which will not ever benefit republicans. Conservatives have to be principled in their convictions, admirable in the ability to Consistently defend their principles and must Consistently maintain conservative ideals. Failure to do this is the very simple reason they lose when they do. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
  24. It would seem that if you discharge your handgun, ostensibly in the act of self defense as determined justifiably by LE, you would be unaffected. However if your claim of self defense is not upheld I believe that basically this is saying you would face an Additional charge of discharging a firearm unlawfully within a state park in accordance with this statute. On top of whatever other charges you may face from LE. More revenue & defined measure to reassure sheeples that gunowners won't be running around Fall Creek Falls like yosemite sam on july 4th.
