  1. Buying shiny new handguns doesn't matter one bit if they're not trained properly to use it.  We're not talking about CAG or the 75th, who are already carrying Glocks, we're talking about big Army.  Whatever pistol they choose will likely be a stupid choice that reflects politics more than application.  It will be 9mm no matter what, anything else is a pipe dream.
  2. If you already have another rifle for deer hunting, my advice is for you to stick with it instead of dumping money into a gun that you have to start from scratch on and doesn't kill deer any more dead than another.  I've got some past and recent experience with x39 ARs and I still go back to a bolt gun with quick handling and great optics.  For me, semi-auto just doesn't factor in for whitetail hunting.  Every deer I've ever killed has been on the first shot.  If I didn't get it on the first one, the follow-up wouldn't get it either.   Especially if you just had a baby!  I've got a 5 month old, so I know the drill.
  3.     Not that long ago, I bought an all-matching, unfired Gen 2 G19 for $400 on GB.  Still in the Tupperware.  They're out there, you just need to be ready to go when they show up.   Did an even trade with one of our behind-enemy-lines brothers for some brand new Gen 4 mags so that he could take the 2 preban mags that came with the gun.
  4.   Heck man, depending on where you work, you could lose your job or security clearances.  That's my beef with the TN law... potentially a sign that you overlook in the normal course of walking into a business could be your ticket to losing everything depending on how LE handles it.    I was at a restaurant a few weeks ago that had about 30 decals all over their entrance window.  On the way out while waiting for someone, I noticed that one of them was a gunbuster sticker.  Walking in, nobody in their right mind would be able to see it.

    4 Lb AR-15

Wouldn't a gym membership have been a little more cost effective?  Do you even lift bro?   :taunt:
  6. Good price for a private sale, but if you have to pay for shipping or transfer, then it's just ok. The KCI mags do not really add any value. They are good for inducing malfunctions in original form. The bodies are generally good, the internals stink. If the gun is in the condition you say it is, you are in the ballpark.
  7. By the way, I have been pulled over several times in Maryland over the last few years and have never been asked about firearms. If you get pulled over on I-95, it is safe to assume you were driving very poorly because EVERYONE speeds, so unless you are 15+ mph over, you will likely be ignored. On the other hand, if you drive on county highways where the speed limit changes from 65 to 45 to 35 in a blink, you are far more likely to get pulled over for speeding because unless you live there it is very easy to miss a sign. Carrying a shotgun sounds like more of a liability to me than anything else. The chance of needing to or being able to deploy a shotgun from a vehicle is pretty low compared to theft of the shotgun or getting hassled by LE.

    College! YAY!

That Putin portrait is fantastic. Where did you get it???
  9.   In New York, even as a resident if you do not have a New York pistol permit you cannot even physically touch a pistol.  The pistol permit classes in order to be able to buy a pistol involve BB guns and blue guns.  Different world.  I used to belong to a hunting camp in the Adirondack Mountains and the area puts the Smokies to shame.  Beautiful region, great people, just 3-4 hours north of NYC.  Most of the people in NY who don't live in NYC, Rochester, Buffalo or Albany are very conservative.  For the most part, our New York brothers have given the middle finger to their misguided elected officials... look at how few people registered their guns for the SAFE Act.   With respect to Maryland, just don't let yourself be an easy target.  If you drive on the beltway and have confederate flag stickers, "keep honking I'm reloading" or other crap like that, you could get targeted by an overzealous cop.  Do the speed limit, don't stop unnecessarily and use your head.  I spent 30 years living in New England and the Northeast.  The people that get in trouble are generally Darwin award winners.
  10. Gold plated Desert Eagle in .50AE with Eazy-E's likeness engraved on the slide along with some NWA lyrics. Or a Hi-Point spraypainted metallic gold with the same. Your call.
  11. Taran Tactical +1 extensions are good to go and bring you to a 7+1 capacity. Ditch the factory floorplates.
  12. This issue develops over time with some high use Glock pistols and magazines. IMO not worth sending to Glock, super easy fix. Those that rip mags from guns on reloads will not have this issue. Additionally, if you add the Taran baseplate that may help it drop free due to the extra weight.
  13. Nobody mentioned the movie Idiocracy?  It's pretty much a documentary.
  14. Examine the notch on the magazine where the magazine release touches it while inside the magwell.  If there is any excess plastic, carefully remove it with a razor.  If that doesn't work, replace the magazine release.   Also, since it is an ambi release, make sure that when you depress the button with your thumb that you're not "stopping the travel of the release" on the other side of the pistol.
  15.   Depends on the industry.  At Lowe's, that makes sense.  I worked in the risk management space for a while and had the opportunity to work closely with loss prevention and security at a number of companies.  At many stores, the person with the backpack or bag is exactly the person you worry about.  In this day and age, you also DO worry about what's in there, not just what they might be putting in there.  You can get away with a lot given the complete lack of awareness of 99% of the general public as well as the apathy of store employees and security... but if someone ever did come across it somehow, you'd end up on the news as a potential terrorist with an AK-47 regardless of how legal it was and then the comparison to Leonard Embody would be closely following it in he news reports, followed by interviews with politicians questioning a "loophole" that allows individuals to carry around "such heavy firepower" and how we need "common sense regulations", you know... "for the children."    Concealed is concealed, legal is legal...  We live in country where more people can correctly name all of the Kardashian family members than can find Afghanistan on a map.   The OP laid out a very personal story and very personal reasoning as to why he went the path he did and I certainly respect it.  I think it's a really neat gun and I applaud the OP for his efforts on putting it together.
  16. Appreciate the feedback.  Also read your article regarding this pistol on another forum and that personal perspective you added helped provide additional color.   Any info you can add on the Saiga handguard that you customized to fit this gun?  Seems like a winner.  Lots of companies have headed down a railed handguard path when on something like this pistsol, that's really adding way more weight than what's needed.
  17.   Makes sense and certainly agree 100% on the concept of defensive firearms being simply a tool to survive and prevail in a situation that you hope never happens.   You mentioned in your earlier comments that you would intend to carry it in a bag when you are in stores.  I'm really not trying to bust stones here, but I can't think of a lot of retail stores that you could roll in to with a bag of any sorts that wouldn't draw a ton of attention to yourself.  Not talking about a bad guy spotting you as the guy carrying a rifle caliber firearm, but store loss prevention or even local LE calling out a dude with a bag.  Just doesn't seem kosher these days.
  18. Both are good pistols with well-published track records.  Disregard everyone's opinion and get yourself to a range and shoot both guns, see which works best for you.  Everyone's hands are different, everyone's shooting experience is different.  If you can swing it, take a handgun class at a range where you can rent both guns and spend a few hours doing drills.  That's when you really begin to find out which is the right choice for you.
  19. Couple of questions..... Why the Mini Draco versus the "other" AK pistol options... M92, Draco, Micro Draco, etc.?  Was it solely to achieve a certain barrel length or OAL? Is that short sight radius workable at all? Plans for an optic? Handguard looks really good - like it belongs on the gun.  Would be interested to hear how you cut it down and also how well it handles heat.
  20. Definitely get your fair share of food before you come down, the food options in the northeast are phenomenal and it was one of the hardest things for me to get used to.  Were it not for the CT megaban, we were considering moving back to CT in the next 2 years.   Two things that surprised me (from a firearms standpoint) about becoming a TN resident were how "unfriendly" the TN handgun carry laws are in comparison to CT, and how few ranges & clubs there are to do any type of defensive shooting.  Gotta do something about both of those things.  Join TFA when you get squared away, they're similar to CCDL.
  21. Tbird, between you, Bucc, me, and a few others, pretty soon all of the CT HTF will be here in TN. Just need to get Dan and it'll really get interesting and that may not be too far off. Stop at Pepe's and bring pizza...... they haven't figured out how to make it here yet.
  22. He used the rifle as the primary, there was a semi-auto shotgun in the trunk.  Lots of bad info floating around based on poor reporting, jumping to conclusions.  Not sure who is worse, politicians or the media.  Do we have to pick?
  23. It's driven by the scanned UPC on the box of ammunition. If someone back in Bentonville assigned that UPC code to do so, the cash register will prompt the cashier to ask the question. Whether or not the cashier actually asks is up for grabs. If you look over 21, they're not going to ask because it doesn't matter. If you look under 21, they'll ask. In other words, if you aren't getting asked, it's for one of three reasons... 1 - The UPC wasn't assigned to prompt 2 - The clerk doesn't care 3 - You look old
