  1. Just out of curiosity - Am I supposed to set the case mouth crimp into that blue groove? It just seems like the bullet is hardly deep enough in the case. Maybe it's just me but is that what the lubricant groove is for? To crimp into?
  2. I know a lot of stores with a TON of ammunition. Prices are the problem. lol
  3. Does anyone remember an AK-47 for sale in the classifieds? It was an underfolder I believe and it was pictured on a Tennessee flag. It was friggin gorgeous and I was wondering if anyone remembers what it was. Id love to have one someday. I searched and couldn't find it. If the owner still has those photos ... I would love to see it again. This fever must be getting to me if Im wanting an AK...
  4.   I deleted what I wrote before I posted for this very reason...
  5. I talked to my greek professor about getting it tattoed. He explained the origin of it before I could say anything and thought it was an "interesting" idea. He's like 80 years old and teaches political science, lol! I'm thinking about just the plain original lettering on my left sleeve. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a5/Molon_labe.jpg
  6. Mboro walmart on old ft pkwy had some 30-40 boxes of Winchester white box 55 gr fmjs a couple of days ago. Did some shopping and went back and they were all still there. I dont know about now...
  7. I can draw a S&W 5906 from a Safariland level 3 holster just as quick as any other holster out there that I've tried. All it takes is training and getting used to. As an LEO it is an invaluable feature. After having carried in TN with a HCP for about a year now I won't have any reservations about going back to a level three holster when I get back into law enforcement.
  8.   It's not worth a penny on these forums. This thread really needs to be deleted.
  9. Sorry, I forgot to get it checked with the caliper. I've measured it before with a measuring tape though and it was good to go in my opinion. Fantastic knife, you won't be dissappointed. I've had many high end knives and ive found the military to be the best compromise of value and quality. I highly recommend those kydex neck holsters, I use one everyday. Makes for an extremely quick draw when you really need to open that letter fast.
  10. Yikes, I was going to shoot these tomorrow. Theres no groove in these bullets and im used to reloading .38/.357 where the case mouth DOES fold into a groove. So as far as 9mm goes, when I set the bullet there wasnt any noticeable bell to the case mouth. I measured with my caliper and I believe the width was the same throughout where the bullet was seated. Using my lee bullet seating die as a crimp, where do i need to be taking measurements on the round to determine crimp? If I understood you correctly, the case mouth needs to be the same as 3-4mm farther down the brass. Is that right?
  11. I concur. It's good to go. Ill take a caliper to it when I get home if it'll make you happy.
  12.   Legally, yeah. Morally - your mileage may vary. Personally, I just try to do the best I can.   Personally, I'd feel like $hit if I brake checked somebody and they illegally passed around me and slammed into a church van full of kids and killed them all. But that's just me. (That is the kind of situation I've been trying to refer to)
  13. Nothing you described is what I consider driving stupid so I don't even know how we differ. I never condoned speeding to make people happy. I have an invalid argument? Ok. You do, too.   ------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Edit: I was referring to brake checks and illegally driving under the speed limit solely for the purposes of exacting personal vengeance. I don't know why people keep accusing me of transferring blame or responsibility. Trust me - I'm not one those spoons made me fat people and OBVIOUSLY not one of those guns kill people types.   Drive safely, drive legally, drive courteously. This does not include slamming on your brakes or going 15 under the speed limit. I'm simply suggesting that people make the choice to mitigate the situation instead of aggravating it.   You know what's worse? Following the two jerks playing that game.
  14.   That's not what I said at all. The behavior of others is not under your control and obviously not your responsibility.   I was referring to the people in this thread who stated that they purposely used their vehicle as a tool with the intent of further aggravating other drivers. I'm trying to stress the fact that an automobile is an extremely dangerous device. It kills nearly 3 times more people every year than all firearm related deaths. It's an inherently dangerous activity that people take for granted and it doesn't need to be made worse than it already is.   If you get a certain level of gratification from instigating already irrational people - consider the potentially fatal consequences for other innocent people out there instead of thinking only of yourself. It's like volunteering for a suicide hotline and pissing off suicidal callers. Try to be the better person and you might just help to keep the roads a little safer.
  15. The way I look at it is this. Someone is already late getting somewhere so they've already made their first mistake. Knowing this, chances are it will not be there last mistake. First, do you want to be around when this happens? Do you want to be the aggravator of this potentially fatal incident and have that on your conscious? I'm not just looking out for myself. I'm talking about the innocent mom with her kids in a mini van coming in the opposite direction. I'm talking about 10 minutes down the road when this angry idiot driver blows a red light and kills someone. You may never even hear about it and it won't be your fault but you contributed to this unecessarily. You're a sick person. I'm not a slowpoke but I dont make a point to speed either. I always stay out of the way of faster or reckless drivers. I take driving very seriously just like a trip to the gun range. Be responsible!
  16.   You're not going to find any statute in the T.C.A. It's against the law to possess or carry firearms at all in Tennessee. There are only defenses to possessing or carrying a firearm such as a handgun carry permit.
  17. Im pretty sure you can NOT under any circumstance except perhaps incident to lawful hunting...
  18. I don't know, I'm just using lee standard dies (3).
  19. Name your best or your favorite handgun that you've had past or present and why. I'm talkin about the gun that just felt like it was made for your own hand and had everything you wanted and shot like a dream. I know I've had a few guns that I felt were the opposite of "factory lemons" that I semi regret getting rid of. Right now that pistol for me is an Springfield XDM9 4.5. I've always been a anti-striker fire pro-DA/SA guy because I'm real finicky about triggers and always felt like hammer guns had the best ones. I've had Glocks and I've had an M&P and was never satisfied with the strikers. This XDM trigger feels completely different than any other striker I've had. It's not a 1911 trigger but it's about as close as you can get with a striker. The grip and ergos are perfect for my hands and thumbs forward grip. Second place is a CZ75 I used to have. Only gripe I had was the really long trigger reach for double action.
  20. I don't know, I think I'd hate having zero ammunition...
  21. I was homeschooled - look how I turned out.
  22. I just checked the length, I forgot I set them in deeper. They're all at 1.100". The bullet itself is 0.537". It's just the way the bullet looks (sizing marks?) they look like they need to set deeper. Posting up a photo in a second.
  23. My book only lists max OAL and it just looks like its just resting on the case mouth when i set it anywhere near that.
