  1. Congratulations JHatmaker.
  2. I would definitely be up for the drive for something like this. I voted for Sunday; work during the week.
  3. Welcome to TGO.
  4. Just a side note but this does vary from state to state; so if you travel be sure to know what the laws are in the states in which you are traveling. For example NC is a must inform state. My instructor was a LEO and let us know it was a choice as to inform or not, but did say that he would rather be informed himself to avoid any potential misunderstandings. I have been pulled over once (headlight out) since having my permit, and the Winchester LEO thanked me for informing him and sent me on my way. Other opinions vary, but I will most often inform. Guess not having to inform is nice if you have a brief encounter (such as asking directions; saying hello in the convenience store, etc.) Always thought it might make for a weird situation in NC to have to inform....(where is the nearest gas station?....uh by the way, I got a gun.)
  5. Nope not what it means. As long as you have applied for your renewal before the date of the expiration of your old permit, you are good to go with a receipt for your renewal. If you apply for a renewal after your old HCP has expired then NO, your receipt is not good enough, you must wait until your new HCP arrives in the mail. Correct Fallguy?
  6. Waiting on this as well. Maybe we can have a mini-get together there sometime for the local people.
  7. Fury2neon. Thank you for posting this. I live in Franklin County and work in Cowan. I will make sure to patronize the restaurant and make up for the "loss" of business of this one anti. I will also make sure to pass this information on to my friends from work with HCP's as well.
  8. Big South Fork is a National River and Recreation Area......so I am not sure. Maybe Fallguy or someone else here knows more.
  9. I get off of work at 11pm and always go by the local Wal-mart to buy ammo (if they have any) because I know that if I wait until the morning it will be gone. Sounds like some lazy people not wanting to find the key to open the case.
  10. Great news. Thanks for following up on this guys.
  11. I haven't been there yet, but have heard good things about him and the store. Been waiting on the range to go visit. Keep me posted guys and maybe we can get an area group together.
  12. Welcome from Franklin County. Glad you found us.
  13. Everyone knows that a bun gun is a Glock.
  14. I was at Applebee's last Sunday; no signs as of yet.
  15. Not sure but think that London's doesn't qualify because of the serving food definition of a restaurant. They do not serve food excepting the popcorn; maybe a bag of chips. So truly is a bar. Am I correct in the wording of the new law and how it applies to this situation?
  16. I wonder if the business pays for paving of the streets?....if so maybe it is private.....but I bet public money goes to the upkeep of the street...which seems to me would make it public.
  17. Hey Brooksjr. If you don't mind, pm me the name of the establishment so I can make sure that I make an informed decision about where not to spend my money. Thanks.
  18. I have a Stainless II that I bet they would look great on if you ever wanna get rid of them:) By the way....been meaning to ask about your mag well? Kind? Price? etc....did you do it yourself?
  19. Looks like a great hike. I lived in Knoxville for 7 years, and still miss the proximity to the mountains. Winter time is hiking time for me too....just too hot in the summer unless you get some elevation (Smokies, Pisgah, etc.) Guess it is canoe and kayak season for me, at least until these temps let up.
  20. It was there yesterday when I voted, but if you notice the wording it too is quite misleading. " About the law Starting on July 14, handgun owners with valid carry permits will be allowed to bring their weapons into restaurants and bars that serve alcohol, unless the restaurant has posted a sign banning guns. Anyone carrying a weapon is not allowed to drink. Violating the new law carries a fine up to $500." With the "Anyone carrying a weapon is not allowed to drink" inserted before "Violating the new law carries a fine up to $500." makes it sound like it is only a 500$ violation for carrying and drinking...............not that it is a 500$ violation for carrying in a place posting a legal sign banning carry. But guess that might just be poor writing skills and not the intentional misrepresentation that has been so common in the coverage of this matter.
  21. That sounds kinda interesting. I will have to try that when both of those end up in my fridge at the same time. By fizziness........not sure but you might mean the hoppiness of the Blue Moon gives the contrast. Not to be confused with happiness...but hoppiness is close to happiness to my taste buds.
  22. Not that polls matter a whole lot, but I voted and we are losing 58 to 41 %. Poll is located to the right of the article.
  23. Congratulations on the class. Now hurry up and get the paperwork in so the countdown begins:) Not sure if they have the same schedule, but when I was going through this the license center in Manchester (now in Tullahoma) was only open on Tues-Friday. Lincoln County was open Monday-Thurs. So I went to Lincoln Co. and they directed me across the street to the Sheriff's Dept to get fingerprinted; had to wait for them to get back from lunch, but got it done all the same day when I was thinking I would have to make an appointment to be fingerprinted.
