  1. Not the grips, the original safety (non ambi) works fine... really just need a gunsmith to take it too.
  2. Was given an older colt 1911 for Xmas that has been previously modified. The original thumb safety has been discarded and a new one installed. The new one does not properly seat on the left hand side of the pistol. Essentially it won’t go down far enough to pull the slide back and load the firearm. I am in Maryville/Knoxville area, who is a good 1911 gunsmith I can trust to fix the issue properly?
  3. Simply put what are the differences between the two? Will parts such as grips, triggers, sights, slide release, safety, etc.. Be interchangeable? What is the best website for parts and accessories besides midway and brownells? Thanks
  4. My father recently purchased an adams upper and was told that the quad rail which is on it may not have enough clearence for the gas piston. Does anyone have a list of brands and rail manufacturers that are made to fit on an adams gas piston upper????? Other than the outrageously priced rails on adams website that is......
  5. I am in the market for a holographic optic, however have limited experience with them. Would like any experience or opinions on price, general function, and reliability. Thanks, Smiddy
  6. Just saw this statement on their twitter page.... @cheaperthandirt: CTD will resume online sales of firearms once we update and improve our process. Firearms will continue to ship only to FFL Dealers...... How quickly they are flip flopping
  7. I have found more info since I began this thread. One CTD is owned by two seperate entities, one selling accessories and one selling firearms! The entity selling firearms did in fact make the decision to stop selling them all together. Also found out they will not be liquidating any inventory as they drop ship all items straight from suppliers... The do not wear house anything!!!! Definitely not seeing any business from me in the future!
  8. Was trying to purchas a handgun from cheaper than dirt a few moments ago that I looked at online last night and a message popped up on my screen.... Cheaper than dirt does not sell firearms. I called cheaper than dirt and the woman who answered says they stopped selling them an hour ago. She stated that she was not told that this was forced or given any explanation as to why they have stopped. Anyone have any answers???????
  9. Thank you, My father was looking at one of these and I obviously didnt know anything about it.
  10. Would like some information on this fnar 308? Specifically is it built the same as any other AR... Same components, lower, upper, d.i. or gas piston. Or is it more like a hunting rifle in semi auto? Can I change components like but stock for grip ect??? Thanks for info
  11. My wife and I shopped for the same thing about three months ago and ended up with a glock 19.... She was shooting my ruger mark II 22 very well and it has taken several sessions at the range for her to adjust also.... Overall she loves it, however may want to look at extended slide and mag release if you go the g 19 route. Good luck and have fun shopping!
  12. Thanks for all of the info everyone.... All of it is very helpfull and should get me through anything I have the capabilities of doing myself.....
  13. Any reccomendations on a complete gunsmithing tool set? I will not be building any firearms with these tools, just basic disassembly, cleaning, etc.... It will be used on a wide range of firearms from rifles, shotguns, and different types of pistols. Are the complete sets worth looking at or should I just look at different tools and piece meal a set? If so which brands and which tools are a must have? Thanks for replies
  14. Yes I have the greatest wife ever and I have been doing nothing but telling her that since yesterday morning..... I realized the magazine and ammo thing after going to the farm yesterday to shoot and only having one magazine and 5 20 round boxes of ammo she threw in the stocking..... Anything wrong with running bulk ammo bought on the Internet if it's brass and domestic? I guess I'm asking if this is factory defect stuff or are they discounting due to the bulk of the order? Merry Christmas to all!
  15. My wife shocked me yesterday with a 16" cmmg mod4 ar 15.... (don't think she knows how much she will regret that decision) This is my first AR however I have been lusting over them for sometime. What upgrades are a must right away? And what should I look into as far as sights/scope (magnification or not.. That sort of thing) I am really just going to be having fun with this thing at the range, no competitive or long range shooting..... Well not yet anyway.... I have a feeling this thread is fixin to cost me a bunch of money.... Thanks for replies.
