No worries, it will get better once you're a permanent resident. They may even let you have special toys with permission from the ATF. (I've got two tax stamps.... which reminds me, I need to file for a couple more suppressors. Hopefully there's no Coronavirus shortage of those yet...)

Once the conditional status has been removed, and a proper I-551 is issued, it is only valid for 10 years. You gotta renew it like you renew your drivers license. (A pretty simple and painless procedure. Thankfully the immigration office in Nashville can handle those. I'm glad they opened that... no more trips to Memphis... yay!). In other words, there is no permanent Permanent Resident card. The Permanent Resident cards have a 10 year expiration date. The "conditional" status has nothing to do with the type of card or its expiration date. Yes, the temp card is only valid for two years. But the actual "status" is in your file (erm.... or "record"... welcome to the 21st century, Obiwan...)

All the laws I've seen talk about Citizens and Permanent Residents. A conditional status does not grant you permanent residence. (Otherwise you wouldn't need to go back for another interview to get the conditional status removed, and a get a new and proper Permanent Residency card). You're more like a temporary resident until the conditional status is removed if your condition is satisfactory (for example, still married to a US citizen). Unfortunately, I don't have that temp card anymore, nor my first Green Card (which was pink I believe... the second was white, and the current is green). Still got the old I-688B though. Gawd, what a horrible picture. Not like the current one is any better though... Anyway, if you can't wait until the conditional status is removed, contact an attorney to find out for sure. But I'm reasonable sure that you'll have to wait.

I don't recall ever phrasing it like that, but yes, I do love my CZ75 compact (PCR). Of course, I do love all my other CZ's, but the compact is likely the most perfect carry-gun ever.

Interesting. I thought the frame issues were only with the .40S&W version, not the 9mm. Anyway, regrading the trigger pin, that's very common. Mine was fine after several hundred rounds after purchase. But after having punched it out for the first time (for polish work on trigger bar, etc), it never seated reliably. The solution is to get the floating trigger pin from CGW. I got it in all my CZ pistols. It removes any worries about the pin walking. It's one of the must-have upgrades, just like more comfortable triggers. (The RAMI's trigger is known for being uncomfortable to many).

I installed the under-desk safe from V-Line in my vehicle under the driver seat. Works pretty good. You can't remove it without taking the seat out, so stealing my gun won't be a quick smash'n'grab affair.

I always wondered about how to hide the clip of an IWB holster, and recently got an idea (that I haven't put to the test yet). If the holster has only one clip, buy a Leatherman (or other brand) tool with leather belt pouch. Drill a small hole into the upper part of the clip and the Leatherman pouch. Attach the pouch with a rivet to the clip. Now people will see you're carrying a Leatherman, and the clip is obviously to hold your multi-tool on your belt. If the gun doesn't print, would this fool even folks who carry and know what to look for? It just might. I need to order a couple more clips for my holsters and will get an extra one to drill and try out.

Something on the lighter side:

If the slide is like that of a CZ75, you don't even need to drill. When I installed F/O sights on my 75, I used a triangular jewelers file to file a groove into the underside of the front sight (in the appropriate spot after inserting and marking it). Filing a groove seemed much more ... uhm.... controlled .... to me and my clumsy hands than drilling with a drill bit. The groove works just as well and holds the sight tight. Just to be clear. Punch out the pin. Remove the old sight. Insert new sight. Mark the spot to be drilled/filed (I think I used a needle to scratch the location on the sight through the hole on both sides). Remove front sight, file a groove into it. Re-insert front sight, then punch the pin back in. Make sure you go easy on the filing and try occasionally. Don't remove too much or the sight will be loose.

Careful though. CZ's can be very addictive. Might as well make room in your safe now. In order of appearance: CZ 75B matte stainless, 2075 RAMI, 75 PCR, Scorpion Evo, vz.58, 805 Bren, and last years Christmas present, the CZ/Huglu Hammer Coach.

Prince Rupert drops are molten glass droppings that carry a lot of internal stress and can be broken rather easily by breaking the tail. However, the head seems rather sturdy, seeing how it survived point blank shots from a 22mag and 38spcl. Nice high speed footage. (I love high-speed bullet impact videos... lol). Enjoy!

For a really small pistol, and if you allow the 9mm to be a bit... uhm... short, the P238 is a great gun. In fact, it has grown on me so much, that will likely change from dual-stack 9mm to single-stack (mostly for carry comfort reason). I haven't fully compared yet, but the Springfield Range Officer Compact (i9mm) is currently on the top of my wish list. There is indeed something awesome about the 1911 platform, and since you can get it in 9mm, I think it should definitely be on the list.

You didn't specify what type of action you prefer, and if metal or plastic. If you just want a poll, then I'll throw the C75B PCR into the mix. Some say it's the best carry gun ever created. And it handily pulls double-duty as a range gun. I really wish CZ would release a stainless-steel compact....

You don't think that's possible? It appears there was 10 minutes between the report of the security guard being shot and LEOs starting to clear floors. An hour between SG being shot and entry into the room. (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/10/04/las-vegas-shooting-timeline-events.html). Did the SG at the elevator remain in line of fire? Or did he retreat to safety, losing sight of the room? Again, we need to wait on facts to rule that out. If the SG was shot from the room and retained visual contact on the room (or rooms, not sure if that was a double with two doors) then we can rule that out.

David, The problem is that Occam's Razor in this case may actually point to an "alternate theory". Granted, while we don't have all facts, something does not look right here. If you were a mad man trying to kill as many people, you'd bring several guns, some for backup, and lots of ammo. The amount of guns here seems excessive. (Unless he wasn't aware that you can reload firearms). The way they are laid out in the pictures also looks odd to me, almost as if they were "sprinkled" around the room for effect, not stacked up. You know, to make a statement. I think he was making his statement by shooting as many people as he could. I don't think his statement was "look how many guns I can have". I have to admit that I only did cursory research/reading about this case yesterday, and have not, and don't intent to, do any further research at this point. But after reading that he doesn't seem to fit the typical profile, my first thought was he may have just been a pawn. It's pretty convenient to just have a body with a "self-inflicted" gun shot wound in a room full of guns. It is possible that he was just picked up an hour earlier, lured to that room, shot, and then whoever did the shooting and managed to disappear. Now, I'm not a conspiracy nut, and don't point to shadow government agents, etc, but this case just has some odd things about it. Occam's Razor might actually lead us away from the truth. I'd like to see some evidence (like hotel video footage) of him hauling "bags" to his room, or engaged in the act of shooting or whatever. At this point we got a mystery man in a room full of guns. And that just looks too much like a familiar movie plot to me. I'm curious though. Will we try to gather evidence and come to a conclusion, or will he have a conclusion that we'll be gathering evidence for?

One of the cans has an interesting baffle design, and while it seems quite effective on retaining gas flow, it makes me wonder how much that increases back pressure.
