It always makes me happy when I see this hanging in the sign section at Lowes. They have had them for a few years now. I pick one up every so often just to make sure they are registering sales for them.

Questions on Building a SBR on the AR platform
DHF replied to Snaveba's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I have a slightly different way of looking at this and below are the actions I took. Please excuse the length. I have more than one lower registered as an SBR and have had them for a while now. Each one was registered at a specific barrel length and overall length than the others and one with a different caliber (5.56 and 300 being those used). Recently, I sent a letter to the ATF for each designation titled “Additional Upper Receiver and Caliber Configurations for a Registered SHORT-BARRELED RIFLE” that specified all the additional calibers, barrel lengths & overall lengths that lower may be configured as. I requested a return letter for my request from the ATF approving or denying it. I originally received approval on the lowers a while ago and just got around to doing this. I have been meaning to do this for a while now but with the current geo/political state continuing to be what it is, I figured sooner was better than later. Why I did this: There is all kinds of information on the internet saying you do or you don’t but many legal professionals I referenced suggest you do this and then there is the statement below is on the form itself (see below) that could be used as a basis to mess with someone. Now, I am not actually too worried about an agent showing up at my home, or the range but I am concerned that an overzealous law enforcement officer or District Attorney might ignore our rights &/or the actual law (WHAT?!, no way) and it was an easy CYA at the end of the day. There is also the reason I registered them all in the first place instead of waiting for a more convenient time, they can always change the rules, the cost and other restrictions of these things and now I am at least one file with them and their optional configurations. Also, you are already on file with them when you submit to make an SBR or purchase a suppressor, so it isn’t like you have anything to lose by having more paper to cover your bottom with. I do suggest you file for the SBR. It is not very difficult to do and $200 is nothing compared to what they could make it. Not to mention that now you will have one. They were also approved in a short amount of time when i efiled. Just my take. Do whatever works for you. I’m not a lawyer or a government agent. Heck, I don’t even play one on TV. > From Form 1 (Application to Make and Register a Firearm under “Important Information for Currently Registered Firearm” Change of Description or Address: The registrant shall notify the NFA Division, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, 244 Needy Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405, in writing, of any change to the description of the firearm in item 4, or any change to the address of the registrant. -
That was beautiful.

... and people that do not post feedback after a transaction, especially on tight-knit forums like TGO.

People who say things such as “Me and John went to the store” instead of, “John and I went to the store.” It is like hearing someone say, “Me posted to this pet peeve discussion.”

Personal Survival Solutions Calendar from February 12 - April 11
DHF replied to Shane K.'s topic in TGO Vendor Sale Postings
Great to see you a pert of the TGO community. -
I have gotten to this point with a lot of things, myself.

Thank you for the note. I find the current way expiration dates are issued inconvenient, as well.

... and it was probably more of a brown gun. Excuse me, I don't mean to sound racist. I would appreciate seeing national numbers broken down with this detail, as well.

Thanks for the question and the answers. Information I can utilize as well.

eForms payment issue
DHF replied to Sproles Shooting's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I would check your browser and put the site on the allowed list for pop-ups per what Snaveba mentioned and/or try another browser. I have had to do both with issues like this especially when using Firefox. -
Appreciate you taking the time to make us aware.

How much hassle is it to own a NFA class 3 weapon?
DHF replied to FireMedic's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
To try and answer your question quickly, I can say that I had a little apprehension at first as well but after purchasing my first suppressor, realized just how easy it was. I now have multiple items including SBRs. As mentioned above by the other responses, just have your paperwork in order. I do not worry about moving around and have not found it to be a burden to possess them. It has actually been one of the best decisions I have made. It doesn’t hurt to do some research on ownership responsibilities/requirements on ownership. Silencer Central, the American Suppressor Association and many other legitimate companies and law firms publish such info online. There is a Lot of misinformation online… big surprise. -
Best transfer fee in Nashville or Johnson city?
DHF replied to starncannon's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Godcountrygun, do you have any experience with any small FFLs charging a good rate in the Nashville area? I would be glad to add them to my list for future business. -
I was lucky enough too. It had just been on the range for some testing and it was being put back on the bench.

Just adding to an old post with a recent experience. I have used DTV Tactical Innovations here in the Nashville area to engrave three SBR lowers. They are located in the Royal Range USA building. They were laser engraved and they knocked the three of them off while I waited. https://www.dtvtacticalinnovations.com/

Best transfer fee in Nashville or Johnson city?
DHF replied to starncannon's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I have used Music City Pawn a few times over the years for transfers. Always a smooth process with them. They have a few physical locations and I used the one on Nolensville Rd. They were $25 per item and then $12.50 for each additional plus the$10 for the State. I believe they are now at $40 per firearm plus the State's fee. I'm not sure how this compares anymore but have noticed that most places seem to be at least this much so it may not matter . https://www.musiccitypawn.com/firearm-transfers As for suppressors, it looks like a lot of places are maybe keeping a few items in stock and utilizing Silencer Shop to handle carrying most of the inventory and becoming affiliated with them or one of the other such organizations. I have used Royal Range and Silencer Shop recently. You could check out Silencer Central online as well. I have a friend who just purchased through them and was extremely pleased. Also, the guys over at Nashville Gun and Knife are always a pleasure to talk to, very helpful and worth checking out. Sorry it isn't all that specific but I have found the price charged has kind of stabilized recently and you have to factor in convenience to yourself as well. -
For the self-defense portion of the knowledge you are looking for, I would start with a copy of Andrew Branca's book The Law of Self Defense Principles. It isn't exactly free but the $8.95 S&H he'll charge you to get a copy is as good as free for the amount of information and detail. He has some other offers there as well. He posts to his blog and YouTube as well. link to the offer if you want to check it out. https://get.lawofselfdefense.com/v1-full-freebook-lp/b.html and his site: https://lawofselfdefense.com/

Silencerco ASR -vs- Dead Air Keymo mounting systems
DHF replied to DHF's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Thanks for the input. I will be mounting to various SBR/pistol length (10.5", 11.5", 12.5") as well as the less "regulated" 16" plus. Using a Dead Air Nomand 30 and a Silencerco Omega 36M. I went ahead and started to ordered a KeyMo setup as I have an ASR with the Omega. Best way to tell what you like is to try it. -
Silencerco ASR -vs- Dead Air Keymo mounting systems
DHF replied to DHF's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I have heard nothing but good things about the Keymo system. As you said, finding things in stock now is a challenge. Thank you for the feedback. -
Thanks for the feedback. May pick one up and give it try. As you said, A.J., the videos on the site show some heavy hitters implementing it. I'll try and find the two round version and take a good look at it, though, bobsguns.
