My parents both enjoy dove just plain grilled, but it was an acquired taste I'm sure. Probably an acquired tolerance is more accurate.

Dad has always been an avid small game hunter, and starting from nothing, we grew up eating dad's squirrels, rabbits, and dove.

With the way I shoot most days, what was a cheap meal for dad to feed his young family, costs me as much as buying sirloin steaks, what with my 2 birds per 1 box of shells shooting average. Haha

    Wich brings up my recipe.

    Good ammo! Good ammo!

remington hull, Winchester primer, ,27gr winchester WSF, federal 12s3 wad, with 1-1/8 oz 7.5 shot.

Low pressure & 1400fps. Can take out birds others don't even pull up their guns for. :)

  2. My best one on RCBS was, I bought an older Rockchucker that had the straight green pull handle & while I was on the phone getting a new hopper for my $10 Uniflow I mentioned I would like to have the ball type pull handle for the Rockchucker. Yup got one of those to (just because I waned a different one).

  4. I have a safe full of 39a, 1894, 336, 1894, 1895 & model 62 Marlin rifles.

With that being said I have a 1895 Remiln guide gun that is spot on. The quality of it is great(it's not a 1970's Marlin by any means) but at 100 yards off hand with iron sights I will still put it up against one.
  5. Don't rule out the new Marlins or (remlins) if you will. I collect Marlin leverguns, & always look for the presafety guns.

With that being said I do own a (remlin) 1895 GBL guide gun in 45-70. The fit & finish is great even though I'm not a fan of checkering. The sights are spot on straight out of the box. & is actually my favorite Marlin to shoot besides my 1894 in 357 mag.

Just don't rule something out without checking it out yourself if you have a chance.
